    Want to know more about Minecraft? Minecraft is an online virtual sandbox type game where people of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn. Nearly everything on Minecraft is built and designed by the players. Each player starts by choosing a character and giving it a name. They can then explore Minecraft having fun by chatting and working with other players to survive in survival mode or even create huge structures with an unlimited lego like set of blocks. Each player has their own land and a virtual toolbox with which to make creations - be it a castle, mansion or a giant arcade machine for example. There are lots of multiplayer games and servers through which players learn to cooperate.

    Add dice to really randomize and grow this project. A D6 to tell which direction to go in next, a D12 to tell what to build next, and maybe a D20 to mix up the materials?
    Your d12, 1 through 12 could be standard Village stuff like a house, a blacksmith, a library or even things like resource production/farms.

    Really nice tutorial! I’ve been using a similar modular building style myself for a while, but I’ve always struggled with keeping my buildings from looking too samey, so the detailing portion was pretty helpful. Another tip I’ve started using with this kind of building style is occasionally flexing the walls in or out by one block compared to the pillars. With a few cubes stacked on top of eachother, if you flex the walls out by one block it makes a nice rounded tower, and if you have a lot of cubes together to form a large room, you can flex the walls in one block so that the pillars really stand out on the outside of the build. I’ve noticed a few other youtubers using similar methods so I just thought I’d share that for anyone who hasn’t thought of it yet. Also you can vary the materials used for the pillars and walls even within the same build to great effect. I like to use Stone brick for pillars and smooth stone for walls to make simple castles.

    that is really good.
    ...my only question is; why isn't this the NPC village system as default in vanilla minecraft?!
    Think of it, every village could be randomly different by different combination of the 5x5 cubes (in along the same way that the rooms of underwater monoliths or woodland mansions are generated).
    With this system every NPC village would spawn in with between 15 to 30 5x5 cubes aligned randomly in the area (so some multi-story, some not) with stairs or awning covered paths joining them.
    Even the details, such as; water tanks, farms, gardens, township trees, fountains, statues, etc could be done in 5x5 spaces too.

    • @helline9
      @helline9 Před 6 lety +4

      even the themes within the rooms could be done to those 5x5 cubes. such as a fireplace, or a bed, or one with bookshelf, etc. they don't have to be complicated.
      specialist buildings could be done in different materials, eg: the temple could be done in cobblestone instead of wood.

    I think "modular" is the term you're looking for with this system of building. I've been building with near exactly this style for the past number of years and it is by far the easiest way to build interesting structures and communities. Ironically, it's cookie cutter underpinnings actually help with organic expansion and lead to very unique and natural builds. I've since expanded on my blueprints of this format with the inclusion of larger, atrium style rooms or common areas to really make the builds pop. On top of that, I tend to favour 2x2 platform steps or spiral stairs for added variety but that usually requires more advanced techniques and planning.

    Haven't clicked play yet, but; I saw the thumbnail and immediately noticed a pattern that I tend to use - pillars/columns every 4 blocks for a floor space of 4x4 every segment. It makes it easy to just sort of snap things together, and for bigger rooms you just use multiple segments without a wall dividing them. I tend to use 4 segments in a 2x2 fashion for dining rooms, and get a center block to hang a chandelier from or otherwise put a centerpiece on the table. I've since branched out a bit and have found other techniques, some of which can be incorporated into my segmented method and some that are more free-form, but all in all it's a good base...
    I'm gonna watch the video now and see if this segmenting thing is actually used...
    EDIT: Yup, that's segmenting alright. Different dimensions for each segment than what I tend to use, but the principal is still the same.
