This song is based on exemplifying the sufferings of Jesus Christ on the cross. Each stanza reminds us about the MANY WOUNDS HE BORE FOR US.
Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
The seven stanzas of this song describes the pain and suffering Jesus went through in His Head , Heart , chest , sides, hands, knees and feet. The pain that he underwent was for all of us, because of the love He had for us !
