*Honestly, I don't know any ambitious person whose work isn't "hard".* This isn't unique to entrepreneurship. Working in finance is hard, being a lawyer is hard, being a doctor is hard, climbing the corporate ladder is hard. Even some of the most rewarding life choices are hella hard (i.e parenting, etc). It's all challenging. If people want to try out entrepreneurship, for whatever reason, awesome! Let them try it out and see if it fits. Experience is the best teacher. I feel like there's a way to be honest and open about the challenges of our day to day schedules, without discouraging anyone from trying, or telling them they will most likely fail. None of us gets to decide whether entrepreneurship is right for the next person.
I'm with you on this one! I understand where she's coming from though, when I first started my brand I wanted every one to be an entrepreneur 1 yr later my heart completely changed. It's not for every one and perhaps the way she said it ruffled your feathers a bit. No disrespect to those who are not entrepreneurs, but for those wanting to get into it just know that it's not the easy Street some of us portray it to be. You're right, It's just as hard as climbing the corporate ladder.

I think unless you are an entrepreneur you can't truly understand the walk. I've worked other jobs my whole life, and have now owned my own business for almost 7 years. It's amazing how when you just think you hit your grove, the market changes, trends change, etc. You have to have a certain personality that can think business from the second you open your eyes in the morning until you close them at night. When you work for someone else, you can leave their cares behind you and go home for the night. When you do it on your own, every aspect is yours-and you have to effectively manage that stress or your customers will not want to work with you. It is a unique role-and I say that from the point of view of a woman who built her business while being a single mom.
Choose your hard. Everything worthwhile is hard.
Desiree Larieaux I’m about one year to late on this topic lol but I’m an entrepreneur (12yrs in real estate), and entrepreneurship is definitely a trend right now. I have numerous friends getting licensed thinking it’ll solve their financial problems etc which I encouraged anyone to follow their dream(s). However people forget it’s not 9-5 it’s 24/7, I believe Karin was highlighting the facts, it’s hard, it’s not for everyone and it definitely shouldn’t be because it’s “hot” right now. I do agree being a doctor, lawyer etc is harder as well, accomplish any goal is hard....but people aren’t running to be doctors or lawyers, hence it’s not a “trend”.
She is a real business owner. CZcams has alot of wanna bee's however she is the real deal.
Just started my business in January and my God can I relate to what she was saying. I'm finally in a position where things are looking up. Most people will fail because it's a certain type of long-suffering needed that most people aren't ready to do. Despite all the seemingly negative effects the rewards are so fulfilling. The only advice I can give is to keep going despite how scary or risky it seems KEEP GOING.

I have to agree with what you said. All of a sudden everyone wants to be an entrepreneur, even me. I mean, who wouldn't want to work for themselves, right? But to be honest, I think people want to be their own boss because it's "cool". I think you made some great points with this. We have to sit back a bit and ask why we want to be our own boss. I’ve wanted to be an entrepreneur since I was 15 years old. I’m 24 now and just last year I finally new what I wanted to do. That desire to be an entrepreneur never left me. Thank you for sharing this video and showing the hard work you and many others do behind the scenes 😊
Entrepreneur life is not easy but you just have to love the game. You got to love to fail and enjoy life while you hustle from rock bottom. The easiest way I have learned to understand and get thru the entrepreneurial struggle is to not play the blame game and just blame your self for everything. After a while, it gets easier to move on from your mistakes and you become happier because it just a 1 time set back and you learn from it and soon you figure out a solution and you move.
This is so authentic and real! I like that you show the good, the bad, and the ugly in entrepreneurship.

I know that I am posting a whole YEAR after this video was made, but I just found you and I have to say you are AMAZING! You are inspirational, you are REAL, and you are STRAIGHT UP. I am a Business Marketing Student who just graduated and like most, turn to You Tube for some inspiration as to what the heck am I going to do now??? I saw one of your videos and I am HOOKED. You are just straight up and raw, not like some of the people on here who are like "write in your journal", "drink lots of water", "exercise everyday" etc. and you'll be successful. You have not mentioned those things, not once! You show that in order to be one BAD ASS female, you need to WORK YOUR ASS OFF and get IT DONE. True inspiration, I'm serious please please please don't fall into the "download this app" or "buy this book" cliche! Because you don't need it, your stuff is so amazing and influential for a future business woman like myself. Thank you!

Thanks Joceline! It seems like talking about failure as a possibility struck a cord with some people and rubbed them the wrong way. My message was about how hard entrepreneurship is, and unless you're willing to put in the work, success isn't guaranteed.

I appreciate what Karin was saying. What you see on Social Media is what those people want you to see, what you never see is what it takes to get there and stay there. Also, as an entrepreneur you have no safety net of an employer or a salary. If your employed, you have a job to do and no doubt it can be manic and full on, and nobody in my opinion is devaluing that. But being employed means you can switch off at 6pm, you do get your weekends (depending on your position in the company). As an entrepreneur it is 24/7 all year round, and you have to balance your work/life, but with no guarantees of success, or if you are successful, you have to keep working hard to maintain that, because believe me, you can lose it all much quicker than getting it!
Its 3:34 pm and I am just having my 1st coffee of the day. I feel your video this Monday as my day started at 6 am with clients randomly calling me from Eastcoast. Imaging running to the computer & continuing those calls & dealing with tech issues when you're not dressed, haven't brushed your teeth, barely awake and overall feel like crap but you still take those calls. This life is def not for everyone!
Word! Exactly!! Unless you work for yourself, it's hard to understand or relate to the crazy amount of work that goes in to building something. It's WAY harder than what people think!! xK

I recently applied and got accepted into a college with my major as interior design and I’ve been questioning my choice to do so because I really love decorating but I also love aspects of design as well. Your videos have definitely helped me get an idea of what I’m getting into for the future, so thanks Karin! It is definitely my dream to start a business out in California and get out of boring old Ohio, so I’m living my dreams through you lol 💕

My school has a fairly new major called interior architecture; It's a double major with architecture and interior design. My heart is in interior design but thought it'd be better to have both perspectives in the my career. Should I just focus on an interior design major or would interior architecture help me in the long run ? (jobs, pay scale, business, etc) Thank you.

Great video Karin. Make sure to bring Oscar this week with his sushi costume so we can feature him in our videos and photos for the Halloween special. As an entrepreneur myself, I know how crazy some days can get but I've learned to spread out my tasks through the week so not everything piles up in one day. I hate days that 10 things are scheduled and next day 1 thing only. I think pre-planning is the key.

I am not running a bussiness but i am a hard working woman also and every day its exciting if you do what you love
90% of businesses fail but how many of that 90% are built by noobie entrepreneurs? I've failed at 5+ businesses since I've started and it took one year of continuous failing to learn and grow to the level of being able to know how to pick a good feasible business idea, plan it and execute the plan properly. So, that statistic means nothing if you look at what it truly represents and how it was measured.
If you don’t understand why so many people do it, why do you? Chances are the others have very similar hopes and dreams, if you have been lucky there is no need passionately discourage everyone else who’s trying :)
U may be having a hard time dealing with clients bcoz u r working to hard to do it all yourself..once u filter d shit that u really want to do, i.e. growing your business and leave some decision making to your employees...u r sorted pretty much.
