- My name Hannah Bronfman and I am an angel investor and content creator. In this video I will talk about why I invest and how it plays into my overall brand strategy. I focus on minority founders with a large emphasis on female founded companies that are creating "better for you" and "better for the planet" products and platforms.
Through my own experience starting a technology company in 2012 and raising capital from VC's in the early consumer tech bubble I learned a lot of strategies and tactics that I thought would be helpful to others going through the process. I started out mentoring entrepreneurs and helping them with their go to market strategies, best practices for community building, influencer marketing, PR and celebrity gifting etc. At the same time I was building my own social media presence in Health, Beauty and Wellness. While learning in real time about growth strategies.
Wellness has always been my north star for my own content creation and for my investing ethos. I love to invest in consumer brands whether DTC or Omni channel - Beauty, F&B, Fem tech, SASS platforms, Fertility hardware and more.

I definitely was not taught this information as a kid from my hispanic parents. I never knew what venture capitalist or angel investors were until a couple of years ago as a small business owner. 😌 Thank you for sharing your experience and for investing in so many woman and BIPOC businesses.
You have taken your “entitlement” and leveraged it exponentially in furthering the success of other talented, though perhaps less experienced minority women. You are building an impressive personal legacy, truly impressive. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing Hannah! I built a venture backed clean beauty brand in South Africa and had pretty similar experiences engaging with VCs here. Raising venture finance is still incredibly challenging for women of colour. Also, the story about about PH is so important and such a lesson on choosing your cofounders carefully. I've heard this story many times!
I think especially with tech products, non-technical founders are always pressured to get a technical co-founder and often investors see it as like "essential", but especially in this day and age where you can outsource alot of the development and also use no/low code solutions (Or just teach yourself to code) , getting a technical co-founder should not be seen as mandatory.

I helped build a company from the start, I built the culture, the programs, the client base, and its entire reputation. The only issue was I joined the company after its founding, began making below a living wage pay and every single time I asked for a raise I was met with anger and told that I could not bring that conversation up. I would bring it up only because I was negotiating company contracts that were bringing in so much money yet I never saw it in my paycheck. What hurt was I had to juggle leaving a job I loved in order to survive or staying and dealing with no support. In deciding to leave I was kicked out, access to my email and softwares was taken away, and I was told in order to receive my last paycheck I would need to hand over a list of everything that needs to be taken care of for each client account and was threatened to be sued for claiming that was illegal of them to do??? The one thing I learned from this and that kept me from breaking down as I had just lost a big part of my life was when an older account manager of a company client found out what happened, called me to cheer me up, and told me that I need to walk away from this knowing that business is business and I need to always look out for myself from the beginning. I see Hannah learned that the hard way too. Business is not always fun and please look out for yourself. If you're reading this and starting a business or working in a company where you don't feel appreciated, please make every bit of what you do count towards your future no matter how young you are because someone can always screw you over. And lastly do not be afraid to reach out for help. Dealing with stuff like this hurts and is scary especially if you don't have a lawyer, but don't deal with it alone.
Everything here is perfect. Super appreciative of your transparency. I remember Beautified and you guys blazed a space for sure! The story behind it is even more powerful. Definitely sharing that story (even having privilege, connections, etc doesn’t mean it is a cake walk) meant a lot. WHEN the face of privilege is not the typical face, it is HARDER. Hanna this is amazing, and so inspiring, I have been through a lot of loss and grief in my life,, also personal and life setbacks and just crap that made me a statue, and now its a time in my life where I am motivated and wellness is my focus and your book helped me a lot, along with your A badass, Jen Sinchero! I'm in my mid 30's and I am a writer, and I am very innovative with ideas, and creative, I love following my passions. I, however, have been told that writing is so competitive and it pays little, I got into FILM school for my writing! (shut up the haters and believe in me I shut out the White noise) I had bad awful back-to-back deaths during Coronavirus, I worked in Customer Relations Pharmacy and hospitality, and always been a creative vivid persona, artist-wise. Scorpio in my Mars Cap Sun! So my ambition has always been even during my setback and moments where I was sick and suffered loss and almost died myself.! Soo going forward and becoming stronger, after years and years and years of feeling stuck and moving inch by inch Hannah I fell upon Brendan's channel and found you are awesome it was your travel vlogs that got me out of my depression, it was seeing you living your best life and how present and solid Brendan was with you as a partner that gave me hope! I decided to get up and change my life after binging your travel wellness videos and interviews! your wedding in Morocco changed the game! I am in Film School, and I am innovating my ideas not just in my head, but I am putting my foot to the pavement and believing and networking and I am getting a new place soon, I know it's expensive but I am believing and trusting the process with faith! Hannah, you may not know it but you're beautiful inside and outside, and your constant reminder to women of color and others that we CAN BE!! our best and beyond really resonates you saved me girl when I was on a ledge! my nephew has previously been murdered my best friend committed suicide, and years back i lost relatives and an ex-boyfriend all to death and just crazy losses! my job closed down my aunt died two days after my nephew in the same hospital, my boyfriend broke up with me and I felt so lost.. it was watching and seeing the authenticity of you guys with your tenacious attitudes and courage that gave me mine! I am so thankful to you!
my business Office Poppers is underway, I also want to eventually do a couple of apps too but I'm not sure what to do hearing your story I will seek protective supportive knowledgeable help and spaces! I have no idea what I am doing, lol but I trust that this idea didn't come to me for no reason, "Listen to that voice" is what you say! I also want to start a concierge business I have no idea about that either but I am believing in my endeavors because I see how you Brendan just leap! My partner is Indian and we are in the beginning stages of a health product for women of color for an issue that 90% will develop yet rarely talked about online.I’ve built an online community over past 2 years of 150K on social media and private app and Facebook group for women to meet new friends and plan and host meetup events with my members and local businesses to help them with pr/marketing. Very inspiring story❤
