This is "Ragga Jungle Sound Clash 95", mixed by Dj R.A.W. in 1995. Enjoy! Downloaded from here: http:/goldenerajungle.com/ R.A.W./B-Boy 3000/6Blocc www.6blocc.com
This shit is stirring up some major nostalgia for me right now! I was about 15-16 in 1995, when my boy introduced me to raves. I would tell my parents I was going to stay the night at his house, his mom was super cool about us partying. She would take us to the rave and any other checkpoint required (remember that shit?) where they would require bringing a canned food then give you directions to the party. Sometimes even more than one checkpoint. Ah, man...those were the days. Had the time of my life, and will never forget the experience of partying in an abandon warehouse with at most 150 to 300 people.
Bryon Yarbrough LOL....those times will never come back! Cherish the memories my friend! I have many memories of that time as well. I was known as DJ MENPHISTO
+Bryon Yarbrough I never had to go to a checkpoint. When I started in Toronto in 1998, there were no checkpoints. But they didn't say where it was going to be until right before the event, and you had to call a phone number and they'd say where it was. It occurred to me that this must have become a legendary thing.
Me and my bro grew up out here in SB. Driving all over SoCal from SB Master doom, Boys and Girls Club & Orange Show, Pomona Fox theatre to all over the LA scene. Curious, Machete, I can go name dropping forever.. Cargo shorts, bass speakers and some BBoy 3000 aka RAW and you my friends now have memories to maintain for a life time.
Been listening to this since it was first uploaded to youtube and had no idea it was from the artist later known as 6blocc, always thought it was from the UK. Big ups to the OG American jungle crew.
best thing was, at least I had aaalll the space to dance ! '97 was , for me (well for me as in the d and the b at it's highest), the golden year, and afterwards more and more people, was still ok, but then afterwards it was totally fucked!
This mixtape hits the spot right about now. Brings back so many memories. Raves in downtown LA warehouses. Come out to find your car's battery has been stolen. Fuck it, hop on someone else's ride and hit the next spot. Go get your car in the morning. FAMILY.
Mikee Duran The good ol' days. Catching the 10 Line from DTLA to Melrose Ave. Get hit up by other graff writers on the way. Stop at Beat Non Stop to pick up some cassettes. It will never be the same.
L.A. Ray Aww for real! I remember Beat Non Stop off Melrose. Haven't been that way in a while. Is it still there? I picked up a couple of Steve Loria and Ron D Core mix tapes. Those were some of the best days of my life. No responsibilities and so carefree. The world was ours to conquer. I really miss that.
Mikee Duran I agree with you dude. It definitely was so care free. Unfortunately, times have changed. Along with the vibe that Melrose once gave off in the 90's into the early 2000's. After Beat Non Stop closed, the location became Temple of Boom. Also selling pretty much the same stuff as Beat Non Stop, but wasn't quite the same. Workmens closed down. As well as Fat Beats. A lot of the cool stores that supported the scene began closing. Currently, Melrose is all hipster'd out. Leaving people who are new to that section of the street thinking, "it's always been that way." Yet, they have no clue what Melrose was really like in it's heyday.
fuck man reading these comment and realizing you guys had it good really makes me jealous. I really wish I was able to live those times. but I was born into it though. 199 early jungle if correct lol
Right!? RAW is one of the only DJs I can think of who consistently played two styles under the same name. Sometimes he'd play Hardcore/Gabber - sometimes Jungle/D&B… This wasn't just early 90s either, he stuck with it for a long time. Total master of the decks… made it look easy.
the love on this thread is whats up!! we all on the same frequency only a true junglist can tap into salutes my fellow junglists we were a part of some real shit stay golden soldiers
Maybe the best Jungle tape ever made. The wave probably crested here. Happy to be an aging Junglist that saw this shit. Wow the memories. The endless dancing and jumping out of our shoes together. So much fun.
OMG!!!!! I had this tape. Bought it at a record store in newport a couple years after it was recorded. Looking at thepicture of the tape brings back so many memories
yes! found a real jungle mix! rather than reggae drum and bass. im not a hater of reggae dnb atall, it has its place and is vibey. but i want this most of the time, people need to get more clued up on the terminology lol
Fuckin' '95! Around this time, I was living in LA and I would work temp jobs all week just to make money to party on the weekends. I only went to parties that had R.A.W., APX-1, Machete, or anyone from the Mictlan crew on the flyer. Those were the days.
Oh shit you did a set in '94 in a rave called Insanity. I know you! Digitron aka digiclone or whatever he called himself did his gabber set. That gabber never took off.
I remember MENPHISTO! Saw you spin several times in the LA/IE area. I am also far removed from the rave scene., but, my buddy still spins hardcore under the moniker DJ GABBERNAUT.
Jay Riley That's great! I do recognize the name DJ Gabbernaut. Its wild because I am completely straight edge now for about 10 years, Vegetarian and into weights and fitness. I live in La Mirada CA yet still listen to Hardcore and Jump Up Jungle during my workouts.
because music evolves and so does society! excellent music. without looking back and appreciating past music, how would we feel that amazing sense of euphoria and reminisce every time we listen to the past?
Not a problem... unfortunately... my account is hella restricted now, so I can't upload any more "full" mixes. I've been bumped back down to only 15mins per video. As long as they keep the ones I already made up... I guess I'm cool. Thanks for stopping by!
I remember finding this tape at a record shop one day.. I couldn’t stop listening to it for the next couple days after.. so fire! Still bangs just as hard and smooth 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I feel like im a rare species of junglist... im born in 95 but i love early and raw jungle. Wish this was played in clubs nowadays. Really born in the wrong era.
I've made this my homepage. Now I can get the jungle going whenever i get online, automagically
1995 at 15 years old, was an amazing time in drum and bass and raves and I lived through it all 94-02 every weekend.

+Bryon Yarbrough Mannn, me too. I was 15 in 95 and this DJ. R.A.W mix tape is what got me into jungle.
+Bryon Yarbrough I never had to go to a checkpoint. When I started in Toronto in 1998, there were no checkpoints. there was a time in the mid 90's that I would only go to the parties that had RAW on the flyer. I knew that if he was there, it was gonna be a party.
Right!? RAW is one of the only DJs I can think of who consistently played two styles under the same name. Sometimes he'd play Hardcore/Gabber - sometimes Jungle/D&B… This wasn't just early 90s either, he stuck with it for a long time. Total master of the decks… made it look easy.
Bad times I was in year 7 when this shit dropped so I could never go to any parties :(
I'd let you borrow my time machine to go back to those parties, but I dismantled it after "the incident".

This is classic ragga jungle. This introduced me to the genre!! 🔥🔥🔥
RAW represented the Jungle/D&B sound for LA before it was even a thing! Loved seeing him play at Magic Wednesdays!!
Most definitely! DJ CRS? Held it down for L.A. Jungle as well....both were my favorites growing up in L.A. during the 90s and 2000s
Does anyone from those years remember DJ Aldo Bende

RAW is pretty awesome! I use to play some gigs with him back in the late 1990's 2000 under the name DJ MENPHISTO and have lots of respect for him!
Oh shit you did a set in '94 in a rave called Insanity. I know you! Digitron aka digiclone or whatever he called himself did his gabber set. That gabber never took off.
Jorge Sanchez Right on my brotha! Time sure does go fast! It has been 13 years for me since I left the scene. Are you still in the hardcore scene?
I remember MENPHISTO! Saw you spin several times in the LA/IE area. I am also far removed from the rave scene., but, my buddy still spins hardcore under the moniker DJ GABBERNAUT.
