As a fellow cyclist, kailangan talaga yung awareness sa paligid. Always know how to read the situations in your surrounding, be cautious. Lookout of those brake, signal lights, or any sign that may change the condition of your route. Pangalawa, know the proper speed ng takbo mo depende pa rin sa condition ng paligid, pag ganitong nasa traffic ka, make sure na yung takbo mo dapat yung kaya mong i-control in case something like this happens, tulad nyan di sya nakapreno kaagad tapos the biker chose to overtake na lang without realizing that there are vehicles approaching from behind, buti pa yung taxi naging alisto at nakapreno pa ng husto dahil din sa banayad lang ang takbuhan nya due to this traffic condition... Yup! We share the road, but we must do our responsibility given on what we're riding... Ride safe everyone! 😉

As a cyclist.. he should have noticed that this innova was already using his turn indicators to show his intention of turning right. Whenever I ride my bike I always take note of areas where a car is more likely to enter and exit, for example a grocery store or in this case, a gas station. So when approaching these areas I look out for cars looking to turn into them, or exit them, and am ready to apply the brakes if needed. This guy clearly was not paying attention to turn indicators, the area he was in, or even being mindful to brake and he paid the price for it, nearly got runover. Cyclist is 100% at fault here.

Tips ko lang sa mga nag babike to work
2 Always be alert sa paligid niyo
    4. Be comfortable with the road, but not comfortable enough to the point wala na kayong pakialam sa paligid niyo. Napapansin ko ito karaniwan sa mga nag babike to work eh(may mga recreational bikers din naman pero iilan lamang sila), feeling nila exempted na sila sa traffic rules since araw araw nila itong hindi suinusundan(di ko naman linalahat pero karamihan talaga nang lumalabag sa batas trapiko ay ang mga nag babike to work)

The cyclist simply dont know how the road rules work. His mindset is that the road is like a huge obstacle course that you can just get thru or squeeze in and pass thru in between vehicles as long as he feels he can get thru them. Sorry but what if taxi driver is going in a much faster speed. No helmet safety gear can save him. Thats why bikers need to be subjected to the same insurace and also the same theory and actual practical exams as the motor vehicle. Its as simple as dicpline. The biker does not seem to care about the traffic. Good thing he is lucky that the taxi stop in a dime. He should just wait for the Inova and not overtake.

Especially in the Philippines I just assume the drivers bought their license and thought they own the road. In this case, the driver actually used his signal more than 10 meters before making a turn. It's different from the law that says you have to signal 100m before your turn, but the cyclist should've seen the signal because It's done early enough to make others aware of the driver's intentions. And even if he didn't notice the signal, the fact that a car is merging onto his lane should've made him brake.

Ive been a cyclist for a about 11 years now, ive competed in races and spent a long time in the road and heres one thing if youre a beginner cyclist in the road, read your surroundings, dont try to sneak by, learn how to stop, learn how to understand vehicle signs, learn rules of the road
1.when you want to sneak by or overtake it should be common sense that you should check your rear, you cannot overtake or sneak by if someone is on your back or someone is currently moving there like in the video he almost gets crushed by the motorcycle and the white vehicle
2.learn how to stop, youre not a motorcyclist, Motorcyclist tend to sneak and overtake recklessly sometimes causing accidents such as running over someone or crashing into someone and getting mad every time, now youre not riding a motorcycle youre on a bicycle a manpowered vehicle learn how to stop let them overtake you, dont try to compete with them nor try to get faster when someone wishes to overtake you, its just disrespectful and can cause serious stuff such as trying to block someone from overtaking you when the one overtaking is in an emergency
    3. There are road rules and car signs most understandable turn signals and brake signals, you cant go ahead when a car brakes cant you now? As seen in the video he tries to sneak in between the car and the motor causing him to crash and almost get hit by the white vehicle, its seen in the video that the red SUV had turn signals dont be like him and follow road rules, youre not a car youre a guy on a 2 wheeled vehicle powered by pedaling

The red car knew he was going to make the maneuver but still pulled across the cyclists path. At the very least, if he had been more aware, the cyclist would be inconvenienced by having to brake. The car driver would be considered at fault in European countries. Very poor driving by the car driver, they should have hung back behind the cyclist when approaching the petrol station. Putting on the indicator is no excuse, the car should have dropped in behind the cyclist so as not to impede him.

Kala cguro nya tatagos sya dun sa toyota. Kung mabilis un taxi goobye earth sya.

I think his break is not working, which is a really big problem in the first place. At that speed, isn't it much easier to squeeze the break than to make a left turn?
I would rather be called a dumbass on awareness but not on the functionality of the bike itself.

That's the reason why cyclist should have a license first or at least a seminar, they still share the road with motorist

  • @kookurikapooh

First off, the cyclist was aware that the car has signaled to turn right.
Secondly, he apparently wasn’t aware of the motorcycle that was pretty much parallel to him all throughout.
Lastly, he, like so many other motorists out there, simply refused to slow down and instead chose to swerve around the turning car.

Vulnerable sila compare sainyo.

At first I thought red was in fault. But after replaying the vid I can tell the cyclist is inexperienced.
    - No Helmet. You don't have to expend a lot. Any helmet is better than nothing, but reliable brands are a better choice
    - He didn't look back when turning. If you don't have mirrors (idk their name in English) you have always to look back, even when doing fast reactive maneuvers. Someone can be trying to pass by your side.
    - He didn't sign with his hand where whe was (suddenly) gonna move. You should always do that.
He could had either turn right, or hit the car but NEVER run into another line without watching back. Even you're not ready for the streets, don't drive there. It's dangerous.
Now a tip from a "self-called" experienced cyclist: always drive in the middle of your line or 3/4 to your left (in right ways con tries, yk what I mean). That makes people think twice before trying to overpass you bcs they would most probably hit you, most cases they don't want to, so they use other lines (most the times I have a full line for me). When they pass close to you it's not bcs they wanna scare you or hit you but because they think they can (they are faster and there's is space). Ofc that's selfish bcs they don't think you could overreact or evade some street hole or whatever. Trust me, this works. Also, prioritize bike roads

If even for a second you thought red was at fault i hope you never drive. Your judgement and knowledge of the road is poor and in moments when critical thinking is needed to protect everyone on the road you're going to fuck it up
