Il sughero, materiale affascinante e poliedrico. Uno degli ultimi prodotti assolutamente ecologici, sostenibili e rinnovabili della società moderna. Purtroppo in pericolo di estinzione a causa dell'invadenza delle plastiche, estinzione che porterebbe come conseguenza anche il degrado totale degli ambienti e degli ecosistemi di cui la quercia da sughero è regina: abbandonare l'uso del sughero non può che causare incalcolabili danni ambientali.
In questo video l'altrettanto affascinante lavoro della raccolta del sughero, un mestiere che sopravvive uguale dal tempo dei nuraghe. Un lavoro duro, difficile ma molto soddisfacente per chi lo pratica, e non per una questione economica, ma bensì per la realizzazione e la dimensione ancora umana e naturale che trasmette.
Si parte prima dell'alba, per sfruttare al meglio le ore fresche della giornata, prima che la grande calura pomeridiana abbia la meglio su forza e volontà degli scorzini. Non è facile stare tutto il giorno a picchiare con l'accetta, dovendo usare tanto forza quanto sensibilità e attenzione . E non è semplice neanche stare tutta la giornata a trasportare i fasci di sughero in spalla, in terreni spesso scoscesi e accidentati, in mezzo a una vegetazione non sempre amichevole. Mille insidie e difficoltà, ma la grande soddisfazione di fare un mestiere assolutamente ecosostenibile, dal bassissimo impatto ambientale e dalle reminescenze ancestrali, che riportano chi lo esercita a sensazioni ataviche e ad un legame con la natura ormai persi e misconosciuti nella caotica e plasticosa società moderna. Il tutto nella accogliente terra di Sardegna.

Unfortunately, in danger of extinction due to the intrusiveness of plastics; extinction which would also result in the total degradation of the environment and ecosystems of which the cork oak is the queen: abandon the use of cork can cause untold environmental damage.
