This guy Sangakkara retired when he was on his best form and on peak of his batting. He just had one double century to equal Sir. Bradman’s record but he foolishly decided to retire. The reason he quoted for retiring was that his Dad had asked him to retire. After retiring he played first class Cricket in England for more than three years and scored few more double centuries. Had he played for Sri Lanka instead, couldn't he have done it for the country and brought glory? Apart from this he was taking part in most of the T20 tournaments around the world. Just before he retired he also had the opportunity to become the first ever wicket keeper to take 100 stumpings, he was on 99. I am really trying to figure out what kind of a person who throws away such opportunities just because his father advised. Many of you may not agree with me but my two cents is that he is an idiot to do so. Yes, one can understand if he was; fatigued, not in his form, physically or mentality hurt or problems within the team /management. But he had none, in fact SLC was almost begging him on knees not to retire as Mahela Jayawardena too was retiring at the same time. I highly respect Mahela because he knew that he was out of form and that he could not produce anymore, so he decided to retire. But this bloke was on top form and stepped down dragging Sri Lankan Cricket to the lowest level in history. FYI, he was eventually offered to be the Sri Lanka High Commissioner in UK by the President of SL which he turned down. That I totally agree because the is no obligatin and that is his personal choice. The million dollar question remains if he is really a patriot or an egoist? Well, he abandoned his country when they were bleeding but went around the world to enjoy his cricket for money. You can decide it!
Sri Lanka no needs to copy what India, Australia or England done. We are by far produce better young players it’s matter of how you manage the and look after their talent and build them to world cricket. So please stop doing unnecessary things I personally saw many panic decisions made by SLC . All we need to do now understand our strength and build the team with that. Please I’m asking don’t ask everyone what a do just analyse what happened before make sure not to repeat
