- Theater Talk welcomes the stars of the new Broadway musical "War Paint," Christine Ebersole and Patti LuPone, along with the director of their show Michael Greif. "War Paint" chronicles the amazing careers of cosmetic-industry-pioneers and moguls, Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubinstein. Born in poverty on opposite sides of the world, they both rose to unparalleled heights of success and became two of the most powerful and wealthy women of the 20th century, as well as business rivals for decades. This bio-musical about their lives is the perfect vehicle to bring together two of the most eminent and talented actresses of today, who share the same stage for the first time in their celebrated careers.

Saw the show last night, loved it!!
Did not know anything about the story, but was fascinated by the history... Not only of cosmetics but greed and industrial espionage and theft of trade secrets etc... Amazing.
Patti and Christine were beyond amazing. Vocally and acting wise. Patti gets a lot more of the comic lines, and executes flawlessly.
The costumes, hair etc were fantastic, taking people through the 1930s, 40s, 50s and 60s very well.
Set design incredible.
The whole premise that the two leads never meet, but their stories are intertwined the whole show was very well done.
A little bit like watching a history channel documentary with singing!!
All up, very good show. Go and see it.
I love what Patti LuPone says about making the Tony Awards a celebration instead of a competition. That's such a wonderful attitude!
OMG It's insane how much patty and Helena look alike !!
Saw it last month in previews. LuPone and Ebersole are fantastic!
I love the way that Patti gets caught up in speaking about Helena Rubenstein.
Saw this last week in NY.... it was sensational
3:33 White Diamond: Oh! don't believe a word of it! (Laughs)
yey PATTI... happy birthday!
Great fun interview. Wonderful insights on the creative process.
If there is one thing I would love to ask Patti it would be the following: How is it that the greatest dramatic ensemble of actors to ever appear within a long term TV series for over eight years (The Sopranos) never reached out to her for either a cameo, or a recurring part? Surely David Chase would have scored big with her thespian 'chops" on full display. Being Italian would only have gilded the lily as it were!!
Patti auditioned for Janis (Tony’s sister) but didn’t get the role. She was devastated and cried for a week!!
omg the cover looks like a white diamond
LuPone looks like Mrs. Rubinstein DOES ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THAT
Here because of Steven Universe :T
Why are you here? Shouldn't you two be on Homeworld?!
They gotta have SOME free-time from governing Homeworld and all of it's outlying colonies.
