Yamandu is a gift to mankind. He is much more than just a brilliant musician. He is a musical being that often brings tears to my eyes with such unique emotion that comes thru everything he plays, fast, slow, doesn´t matter. I am extremely grateful for his existance and inspiration as a musician and a brazillian.

Not to be pedantic, but Choro Para Paquito” is dedicated to reed master Paquito D’Rivera, not Paco de Lucia. There’s a clip of Yamandu and Paquito performing together in NYC last year, and “Choro Para Paquito” is performed in the wonderful concert he did with pianist Thomas Lundgren, also on CZcams.

I'd really like to see your impressions on "Águas de março" by Tom Jobim (there is a popular version with him singing along with the legendary Elis Regina on studio). This music is taken by some as a song which could match the works of the greatest classical composers on history. It's a song about anthetesis, and you will soon notice as melody and harmony are one on minor and the other on major scales.

I love watch you reacting Yamandu's music. Whatch reactions to Yamandú is one of my favorites YT programation. Your reaction is special, I like the analyse teoric. I was born in the same region of Brasil that Yamandu came. The regional music influence a lot his music (música tradicional gaúcha). Gaucho are people born in south of Brasil, Uruguay, Argentina and I think part of Paraguay too. Of course he master every brasilian rythms. I think his music translate South America music. I love watch you reacting to 2 songs first I recomend Sarará. If you really react to Sarará I search the another one that is in a full live apresentation. Great reaction. Your reactions to Yamandu revealed nuances that I did enjoy before but wasn't able to fully appreciate until you pointed that out. You earned a subscription.
Here are some other incredible songs to react from Yamandú:
(The descriptions were taken from Yamandú's original videos, that's why they're written in 1st person)
    🎵 Sarará
    czcams.com/video/PTkqxrlh4R4/video.html
Sarará is a composition I've done many years ago.
I play it almost every concert.
It represents the freedom of the frontier musicality, it also reminds me of my childhood.
The dream of having a horse!
When I was a kid, it became this theme song.
More and more my compositions try to be photographs of different cultures, in this case, the language of chamamé, music with a Guarani influence.
Long live the music that transports us simply by closing our eyes!! Blessed music!!
    🎵 Lapa Hora Zero
    czcams.com/video/5TnBWdMgdqo/video.html
Lapa Hora Zero is a samba I composed at Tejo bar in Alfama during the dawn.
Missing Lapa and the Rio bohemian circles, I composed this rather somber samba to remember the number of times we used to go to Semente bar to watch our dear friend Zé Paulo Becker playing.
    Lapa represents the Brazilian culture.
This samba tries to take the listener to the feeling of suspense that happens in the late hours of the night in that neighborhood.
Long live the music that transports us! Blessed music!
    🎵 Ritmo Colombiano
    czcams.com/video/EXeHPUMpM2U/video.html
"Porro" is an irresistible Colombian rhythm, which clearly shows the African influence. Lucky are the countries that had the privilege of having this magnificent mix! In this video, Yamandu makes an adaptation of the piece composed by Gentil Montaña, this music is very dear to Yamandu and is always performed in his presentations, translating the musician's desire to show how rich our continent is culturally.
    🎵 El Negro del Blanco
    czcams.com/video/S8KfvQrilM8/video.html
In front of an audience at GSI. Yamandu whistles and moves as if he were playing drums. Almost falls from the chair. Amazing performance, as if he was possessed.
It is a song that tries to get close to Venezuelan and Colombian culture. In this solo version, I have recorded a theme that always accompanies me in all the presentations I make.
🎵 Yamandu Costa e Elodie Bouny - La Catedral (Allegro Solemne)
    czcams.com/users/results?search_query=yamandu+elodi+catedral
Yamandu Costa and Elodie Bouny perform La Catedral by Agustín Barrios (Allegro Solemne). This version was conceived based on the original part for solo guitar played by Elodie, on which Yamandu improvises a second guitar.
    🎵 Disparada
    czcams.com/video/Q1_UJKSoqFI/video.html
Yamandu goes crazy live in a melotic, tasty, virtuose and jazzy interpretation of a song that's very emblematic of Brazilian Popular Music in the 60's (originally by Jair Rodrigues)

The Spanish equivalent of the Portuguese "carinho" is "cariño" and is used as you said of the Portuguese, but is also used as a term of endearment. Like "sweetheart," "dear," or "darling." It's also used in Spanish to sign off a letter - "Con cariño" is in English like "With love."

I’m so happy that you selected this lovely song by Yamandu to listen and analyze today :) Thank you very much, dear Sir, for your beautiful reaction and always insightful analysis! This peaceful performance offers us the opportunity to experience another side of Yamandu’s composition, with a very soothing and less complicated melody that can be relatable to a broader audience. As you said very well, the absence of lyrics also opens up plenty of possibilities of interaction with the melody, giving freedom to the listeners to experience the music on their own personal ways. In my case, I feel like this song softly holds my hand and takes me to a contemplative stroll in a tiny town at the foot of green mountains during a blooming debut of Spring, with emerald streams running their path, and the fresh wind blowing some peaceful happiness on my face. In this imaginary scenery, ‘Carinho’ is a song that personifies a friendly companionship ready for an affectionate hug filled with patience and understanding❤

@@SirHairless Hello Sir!👋Thanks again for the lovely reaction and comments on this song, you’re really amazing and incredibly talented❣It's very nice that ‘Carinho’ also touched you in a good way during your patient wait for the Spring arrival over there🍀🌻🍀I do appreciate both the virtuoso and the more intimate ways of Yamandu playing and composing with his guitar, and I usually choose which type of song to listen depending on my mood because the feeling transmitted by each playing/music style varies considerably. So, in case you decide to check more from Yamandu in the future, I’d like to inform you that there are many songs where his virtuoso energetic style of playing is more evidenced, for example, the well known vibrant - yet nostalgic - song ‘Sarará’, where he created a melody inspired by the indigenous sounds from the extreme South of Brazil and also sings passionately about a horse he dreamt to own when he was a child (I won’t add more details because I’ve seen that previous comments already gave enough information on it). On the other hand, if you prefer to explore more of his softer/calmer compositions (they are less known even among Brazilians), I’d suggest the song ‘Insouciance’ from 2021 - it’s a beautiful melody with a nearly bossa-novesque aura, very similar to the roots of the music genre we call MPB [‘MPB” comes from the Portuguese initials of ‘Música Popular Brasileira’ (= 'Brazilian Popular Music')] - then, for your information, I’ll add below the English translation of Yamandu’s own words explaining the general context for creating this lovely song without lyrics (the fragment was taken from the original video description written in Portuguese):
“At the beginning of confinement, I felt the therapeutic power of music like never before. Still in 2020, when the quarantine eased a little and we started going out, I would take my two children and go to a park close to home, Eduardo VII Park, which is in the center of Lisbon. I took the chimarrão, skates, helmets, and of course, the guitar. In one of those days this melody came to me, very calm and pleasant. I remembered the song 'A Paz' by Gilberto Gil and João Donato... That feeling of tranquility... In many moments of uncertainty that we are experiencing, only this inexplicable sensation of having contact with music was salvation. I don't think the power of the arts in the balance of living has ever been so clear. When I got home, I played this song for my father-in-law Francis Bouny, who spent the first months of the pandemic with us, which he named with a French name, ‘Insouciance’, which means ‘Carefree’. Long live the music.” (by Yamandu Costa)
      * P.S. (1): the song ‘A paz’ (= ‘The peace’) mentioned by Yamandu is a MPB classic that deserves to be listened/known as an important reference if you have time/interest: there is available on YT a live performance of it by the legendary Gilberto Gil, and the version of this song that became most known in Brazil is its first interpretation recorded in 1987 by Zizi Possi with the title ‘A Paz (Leila IV)’.
      * P.S. (2): Since Yamandu mentioned his father-in-law, I’ll take the chance to also recommend the lovely interpretation that Yamandu did with his wife Elodie Bouny (a very talented guitar player too!) of the Bach-inspired song ‘La Catedral (Allegro Solemne)’ originally composed by Agustín Barrios (a Paraguayan virtuoso classical guitarist).

It means to physically show affection or love, like a mother's embrace or stroking your partner's hard as you sit by the couch, etc. In a way, that's what the song is doing to us.
PS: I mean no disrespect to English as a language, as there are several English words Portuguese doesn't have. Carinho is just special I guess, you can use it as a verb, and from carinho there is also "carente" which means to miss or need carinho. It is so ingrained in our vocabulary that it impacts our behavior and culture. Hopefully this sheds a bit more light into the composition :)

So good! I adore instrumental music and always listen to some for evening. Acustic guitar is one of the best choices for evening as it's very atmospheric, perfect for logfire and hot drink, a pity ours has burnt out already)) "banda rock beats" isn't too bad as well, by the way. Best wishes

Ohh, yes, this is so beautifully peaceful while still interesting.. very much balances out the frenetic energy of his previously reviewed piece (for me, anyway). His guitar… is it unique to where he’s from (is it Brazil?)? It’s quite a rich tone…yes, very nice this one.

And now I’m off to read about this 7 stringed guitar.. I want to know who thought of it and when? Why? It’s just so rich in tone. Must. Find. Out. More.🎶🌟

Yamandu was born in the south part of Brazil, close to Argentina. Music there is a blend of many different cultural influences, including Spanish, German and Italian, along with original music from native people. The seven string guitar was created in Russia. Nobody knows exactly how or when it arrived in Brazil, although 110.000 Russian immigrants came to Brazil between 1880 and the second war. Many of them settled in the same state Yamandu was born
