No need... The barrel is so short that the difference will be minimal anyway. He'll just get a big fireball---but the acceleration will be roughly the same, IMO. (And that's why we see the revolver recoiling so little---little even for a 38 Special. Most of the propellant is just wasted.)
@vaclavkrpec2879 The greater pressure in the. 357 round is going to accelerate the bullet with greater force than the. 38 spl. Therefore, greater recoil would be produced. Been working with the. 357 since '76 when the Department issued the 4 in Security 6.
@@williammccaulley281 Technically you're right of course, but will the difference (considering such a short barrel) be really significant? Most importantly, will the propellant even have time to burn to _create_ greater pressure that the 38 Special before the bullet leaves the bore? I doubt that (but I may be wrong of course). I'd expect though that if you used a service revolver in line of duty, it wouldn't be a 2" like this one (or even 1.5"? not sure, but this one looks very short). 4" of bore will of course accelerate the bullet a lot more---exactly because the pressure has time to build up and apply the force over notably longer time. (That also depends on the propellant type/shape; in order to produce pressure as fast as possible, a digressive propellant would be required here, so selection of ammunition might play a role too.)

I love 357. Probably my favorite pistol cartdige ever. But out of a snubbie kinda defeats the purpose. My understanding is it needs the extra barrel length to increase velocity. My 5" 686+ hits hard. Especially with full power 357 from Underwood.
What's the prices for those beautiful revolves
Very Affordable look it up!
