Hot take: Alex Turcotte will score 50pts next season. Here’s why. Turcotte is the only center on the Kings that can match Kevin Fiala’s energy and play style. He will eventually wind up (like Lizzo) playing with Kevin. Alex has played with highly creative offensively gifted winger (Zegras,Hughes, etc.) and excelled. I also think Kevin can help Alex with the one area of his game that still needs development, mindset and confidence, which Kevin has in spades.
Very interesting hot take. I like it. But in this scenario would Danault be traded? Or PLD? Seems like the only way they'd be able to open up a top 9 center spot for Turcotte. Also, as much as I'd love to see Turcotte excel I feel like it's probably more important to open up a top 9 center spot for Byfield so he can ideally blossom into the 1st line center the Kings desperately need him to be. You make some really good points though - Hopefully we see a fully healthy Turcotte as a full time NHLer next year

What coach would have really wanted this job. This roster is basically capped out as far as talent goes (and will probably regress) not much in the pipeline and not much salary cap to do much. PLD will doom this franchise for the next 7 years. He payed lip service and said the right things to get past this buyout period. In short the kings are playoff pretenders.
Couple of pieces away from contenders? Are those pieces Mcdavid, Bobrovsky and Makar?
I know we're playing armchair GM and all these things are easier said than done but it's just crazy to think about how good this Kings team could be with a couple smart moves/signings this offseason. And that's even with the PLD situation. A bottom pair of Kylington-Clarke or Martinez-Clarke would be such a drastic improvement its insane. Perron is an interesting target as well. I like the ideas of Stolarz or Samsonov as cheap options for a starting G. PLEASE don't screw this up Blake
Re: Portillo - Arturs Silovs is the same age and only 1 extra year of AHL experience. Portillo will be fine in the emergency 3rd goalie role.
Not quite sure I get the appeal of Stolarz for over 3 mil. Yes, he played well this year, but he's also never started more than 25 games in a season. Seems like a lot to pay for a journey-man, largely back-up goaltender.
What is the love affair with Lizotte??!! He can’t score, gets tossed around a lot, not a spark plug…. He offers nothing that Akil or Turcotte can’t do at a cheaper rate.
Hiller and blake avoided answering anything should have asked hey does the christmas party get more or less funding when you are dead last in November?
The elephant in the room.... the best coach in the league is going to have a tough time hiding a turd of a player making 10% of the teams salary while trying to win. If Blake wasn't only concerned about his job, he would buyout PLD knowing and acknowledging he made a huge mistake and getting fired for doing so. That would be a character guy making the right choice for the fans, the org and the next GM.
