Mega-cities in China’s eastern provinces, including Hangzhou and Shanghai, have been sweltering under scorching heat. Temperatures have reached 40°C (104°F) in Shanghai and the prolonged heatwave is expected to last for another 10 days. Local authorities have issued extreme weather warnings, as Chinese state media say this year’s summer is likely to be the warmest in modern history. In downtown Shanghai, streets were nearly deserted as most locals stayed indoors. Some visitors told the Post they were keeping their daytime movement to a minimum.

China's per capita GDP is around $14,000, very close to the threshold of developed countries. If China is poor, then there are only a dozen countries in the world that you can call rich. In addition, China burns coal only for factories to generate electricity, and ordinary people do not burn coal.

China have to burn coal because it is inexpensive for its industries to manufacture "CHEAP" for you. Wallst just lost 2.1t, and most of you cannot afford luxuries, so be thankful to China.
