If you have an old hard drive from a PC or Mac, there is a good chance you can recover the files and data on the drive.

The data recovery from a damaged drive can be costly. Last year, my external backup drive was damaged and it cost me approximately $3 thousand dollars. The recovery period was not short either as the company that did it was very methodical in recovering over 99% of the data in the damaged drive.
