Late, but now very convenient.. thank you for adding... :-)
There needs to be a rule all musicians names are listed
Agreed!
💯
Absolutely! I literally opened this comment tab just to ask "Who are the players" ......Me as a 40 year follower has seen many incarnations, and I always Judge a grooves honesty by if they're willing to at least tell us the players, so we can encourage the path of Jazz for those who come next. Hugs everybody. Please don't block me. 😙😇
Russell Ferrante: Piano & Synthesizers
Bob Mintzer: Woodwinds & EWI
Will Kennedy: Drums Dane Alderson: Bass
@@energyideas thank you!
I'm amazed by the quality of this live recording. Yellowjackets are always Yellowjackets. I love them!
And in their interviews they always seem so humble.
After 5 years of JJ, the Indonesians are leagues ahead in sound engineering.A simple coffee house with unheard of brands, and it will sound like a recording.
They are made of passion.
Love the YellowJackets.... Quite naturally being a drummer. Will Kennedy is my man.
Was lucky to see them and play in a band that playes in a few of their songs..
William Kennedy: Drums (Pearl drums Zildjian Cymbals, REMO Heads & ProMark Sticks)
Dane Anderson: bassist
Bob Mintzer: saxophonist
Russell Ferrante: piano and synths.
Dane Alderson, not Anderson. He's a local hero round our way.😉
jesse For this particular performance, he’s playing on a Yamaha drum-set...
Thank-you
@@eliotmccann2589 which is?
if you only knew how this is what most of us look for in the comments,THANK YOU JESSE!
Bob Mintzer is flawless as usual...a true Sax players Sax man....he is in my mind the ultimate sax player and jazz writer....just a beast of a musician. Bob Mintzer truly rules!
I couldn't agree more, Berkleesaxman. I met him between big band sets in N.Y. in '04... such a nice guy, too, humble & friendly
Completely agree. His solos are so well constructed, with no wasted flashiness and such a great sound. Yes, a monster musician.
I totally agree. From his debut with the band on the album, Greenhouse (1991) their sound changed radically to a more jazzy feel and they are phenomenal. I have been a fan of them for years and I give them accolades for their musicianship and longevity. I have every album they have released and saw them live a few times. Much love to Yellowjackets. ☆☆☆☆☆
He’s too perfect. lol . He brought A ton of Class ,and Skills to the group.I remember him playing with Jaco.
Without a doubt -One the most gifted jazz musicians ever. Writing, arranging, playing, so versatile with a beautiful full tenor sound that’s as contemporary or classic whenever it needs to be. He just kills me.
Saw them in 2019, and it was a dream come true. I was in a state of awe throughout. I've always loved Will's playing and the way he's able to meld with the the other players in a way that is so musical, you almost stop thinking in terms of 'drummer', 'bassist', 'pianist' and start hearing a unified sound. He's so unique. He's a genius, in my opinion.
I think the kid on the bass can grove and solo fine, but Jimmy's tone on the bass was something out of this earth. Great band , love them still, but Jimmy's tone on the bass and compositional chops will be forever missed. Im glad he is still growing as a musician and producer. His solo albums are great too, awesome latin jazz fusion.
Greatest quartet on the planet. Will Kennedy is beyond spectacular, what a drummer.
Huge Yellowjacket fan for 20 yrs. Its a shame that there wasn't more people in attendance that night. Great performance.
I have always "loved" Jimmy Haslip, he is my bass Hero since my youth with "Yellowjackets, Mirage a Trois, Samurai Samba aso ", which means i´m not young anymore ;-) And i really like the new man in the band Dane A., he is a marvelous bassman as well. What I do not like is the idea about comparing two musicians like they were two blue cars. Let them be what they are, as well as we- individuals with talent and creativity and different ways to express it. I will see them here in Denmark the 1´November 2019, and I look so much forward to it ;-)
I hear you. Been following them since 4 Corners. That got me hooked on Jimmies compositions. It takes me on such great journey's. Saw them at Orchestra Hall in Chicago followed by Russell Ferante and the Rippingtons . It was a magical night sometime in the 90s.
I mean Russels composition s
One of the best things my big brother brought home from his freshman year of college was a copy of four corners. Years later I was waiting around for one of my friends gigs to start. I hear him yell my name and I look over and my friend's pointing to a bass player playing Haslip's part from Out of Town. Needless to say this band's been part of my life for most of my life
Inevitable Outcome is one of the two best tunes The Yellowjackets have ever composed, among the tens of fine compositions they have made along their four decades of wonderful music. In my opinion, this one and The Red Sea represent their trademark.
All Brilliant Musicians 👌🏿
The Sound Engineer ✅🔥
Dane Adelson's Bass playing 👌🏿
Will Kennedy 👌🏿🔥🔥
Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤
The sound engineer was sleeping, most of time the Saxophon was not loud enough!
These guys are just as tight as they were when I first saw them in Montreux back in 1981. Their musicianship is extraordinary. Keep on keepin' on guys. Brilliant.
phenomenal Band in every respect... Claires Song.. always wow when I hear that!
Always enjoy watching Kennedy drum He does so much by using so little. Very clever drummer.
Been years and years...never quiting seeing this brilliant jazz group playing their music!!! BRAVO!
Love this! These guys are just wonderful human beans. When I had a nonprofit they generously donated lots of things for a fund raiser. Wonderful talent, but also good souls.
I'd never heard of BM or the YellowJackets until my sax tutor suggested I buy his etudes. Wow. I'm hooked. He's one of the best.
One of the truly great quartets in jazz. Every musician is a master craftsman. Beautiful!
I thank God you exist! You guys are one of the reasons I LOVE Jazz sooooooo much!!!! You are so fkn brilliant!!!! Thanks for your inspiration!
This is good stuff, period. I have been a fan of Yellowjacket for more years than I can remember.
In my opinion Yellowjackets is the best band on the world. Both excellent instrumental players and great composers. This concert performance has CD quality. You can listen to their songs 100 times and it will be never boring.
I have every album that they have made and am happy to meet them in October this year in Switzerland.
My most favourite band, ever. I had more musical orgasms listening them
over the years than all the rest put together. I wish I knew more bands
that display such sensational creativity and interplay. I just love them
A fave of mine as well
It's not by chance that You display a pic from beloved Frank Zappa... I feel a lot of gratitude to these people
I waited 30 years to see this band. In college they were my favorite and it only took one album for me to decide that! -Michele Sturtevant
not taking away but dont forget chick corea electric band
Great stuff. Have been a big fan of them since the 80's.
Will is so good, I love the way he sets points !
Thanks God you gave us CZcams for this!
This show will be part of the few few high quality music on the tube... enjoy and say a big THANKS!!!
Great bass player. I've always loved, listened to and been inspired by Yellowjackets
Great to see Will Kennedy back!!!
Will Kennedy is one hundred percent the sound creator of the yellow jackets!
Russell is the heart and soul of this band. it is 'his' band. Always has been.
Did you say it's good to see Will Kennedy's back? It is a different kind of keyboard placement
Who brings the happiness to the tunes? Is it Russ Ferrante? Anybody knows that?
@@ReedGratz Russell is the heart, Jimmy Haslip was the soul, Will, the Fire and Bob, the Preacher. Dane is an excellent replacement for Jimmy as the Showman.
Yellowjackets has this amazing to sound like a jazz band from my part of the world, Langa, Cape Town! Mbaqanga with the a jazz twist for Langa, Old District Six, Kensinton etc. Music of Joy and Celebration in the face of Adversity
I love jimmy Haslip too,but this new bassist is something else too.Love you guys.
I used to watch him play in perth when he was still playing regular gigs at llama bar in subiaco. Watching him play with andy fisenden when they were in a band called Void was something miraculous. So tight and dynamic. Even then i knew he was going sonewhere with his talent.
Will Kennedy's drum fills are like second nature to him like breathing. He doesn't even have to think about it. And just when you think he's done he blows your mind with a time change.
LOVE THIS..Great tunes..Great playing..and Dane..so proud of you man!
Great! Dane is amazing player and Will is a killer. Love those guys.
I am in Awe of the Genius of Mr. Russell Ferrante. He is One of My Newest Influences. His Approach is Amazing!!
Who brings the happiness to the tunes (for example in the first tune)? Is it Russ Ferrante? Anybody knows that?
If anything ever happened to Russ and he left they'd have to change the name. Russell is the Yellowjackets!
Excellent! I met this band when I was a teenager in the 90s and they blew my mind.
In the late 80"s here!
Enchanting music from wonderful musicians. Thanks for posting.
I've literally never heard of them before . Been playing bass almost six months and it's opened so many musical doors . This guy is incredible .
Very talented young bassist! As a 35 year follower, this is an easy transition for my listening ear. Welcome Dane!
DA has chops galore. Incredible!
Excepcional presentación de este magnífico grupo, gracias por compartirlo.
Confesso que não conhecia...som maravilhoso, musicos excelentes!!! Vivaaa
Shout out to their new bassist, the phenomenal Dane Alderson!
Best possible outcome!
Fantastic choice by Russ!
Jeff B "phenomenal" dane alderson?????
Isn't he? Paulo dorfman
shout out to "shouting out" its a lost art form.
every day I listen to yellowjackets and one of my favorite bands, I'm Brazilian and I really like jazz
The great music ..greatjazz band ever..reminds me of around 90s when they concert in Bandung with the formation haslip on bass..
this guys have every sound C-A-L-C-U-L-A-T-E-D!
This is why this is boring af 😂
I'd been listening to The Yellowjackets through the past week. Imagine my surprise Sat. morning when I walk into my local Guitar Center just in time to hear a worker ask "Who's this?" , playing on the store PA. A few bars go by and the manager and I both say "The Yellowjackets" and point at each other as mutual fans will do!
Egroeg McDonald love it
going to work and listen this beautiful band in my morning ,love it.
Love them!
Yes! Will Kennedy is the man! One of the grooviest drummers on the planet, as well as being one of the nicest humans on earth. Many thanks for sharing!
A superb jazz concert in my livingroom! Amazing!
I had the pleasure of watch two shows in Brazil! In 1988 with Marc Russo and 2011, with Bob Mintzer.
Dane is a great bassist and a very personable man! Thanks for the chat, Dane. Big shout out to appearance with Charlottesville musicians (guitarist and drums) at Apocalypse Brewery, Forest, VA Fall 2016.
It really works! Welcome new bassist.
The One and Only... The Yellow Jackets. 🙏🏼🌟🙏🏼🌟❤
I find no comparison between Dane and Jimmy, and I won't even try they're both awesome bassist!
Jimmy was always known for the hair tosses.
The best modern day jazz band i hav been listening to their music from the 80tees
I listen to this group since I am approximately twenty five years old, I have fifty two, and it did not take a wrinkle, for ever magic...
Federico Alberti.
This music is pure genius. Just glad it's still being produced. A new bassist still has to pass the muster of the band to be accepted. It's all good man.
Excelente agrupación y como siempre ejecuciones maravillosas!!! Great band and of course great perfomance!
Very comfortable and sophisticated mood ! I like jazzy guitar like him.
man these guys are straight jamming
inspiration in every single moment
Such a cool band I love the music.
I've been a fan since the beginning when it was Russell, Jimmy, Robben Ford, and Ricky Lawson. They've never stopped being the most musical of all the contemporary instrumental quartets.
wonderful music!
Have loved the Yellowjackets since I first heard "Matinee Idol." Awesome jazz group.
I cant get tired of listening to this .....
Just saw them less that a hour ago here in NC at the John Coltrane Jazz Fest....GREAT SHOW!!!
Beautiful Song ! what a wonderful night

Awesome jammm....I had old albums during their 1990s gig
One of my favs of all time.
Forever a jimmy fan, but Dane is also just as awesome! Good luck to him! Band sounds fantastic
great..I remember this insanely good drummer on the North Sea Jazz festival in 1993..Kennedy.
I Love Jazz music!!!
Used to go see & hear Russell and Robben Ford before they were famous around clubs in the south bay of San Francisco back during the mid seventies. 5th quarter, Bodega, and other clubs in the San Jose area. Took a few jazz piano lessons from Russell as well. Love those days.
They never fail make me happy, simply wowmazin!!!
Music of my heart... Love it !
I love this bass player!
Fantastic group.Really tight and solid.
The drummer is incredibly musical, melodic, finest...
Sounds incredibly good for un-mixed master from FOH console.
My favorite band, definitly !
Awesome thank you
Verry nice...especially the last tune!
Will Kennedy is just amazing. Lots of dynamics, always grooving!
I love this band w Dane ! He fits perfectly
Amazing Band...
nice and amazing music!!!
was fuer eine tolle Band!! Fantastisch!! Absolutely great!! Beyond......
Oh man, I have not been much of a William Kennedy fan, but his playing here is very enjoyable. The bass player is a total monster. Very enjoyable ensemble.
I love this !
Excellent !
