    In the summer, I ALWAYS have my nails done! I do them myself, because I can't afford to go get them done, but for me it's the easiest way to feel nicely pulled together.

    I'm from South Italy and hell knows how hot and humid summer is like here. I agree that the most important thing is fabric choice!! Natural breathable materials are key. Thin cotton and linen are the only things I'll wear when it's sweating hot outside (sometimes up to +40°C)

    • @AlyssaBeltempo
      @AlyssaBeltempo  Pƙed 4 lety +1

      Agreed! I learned that linen and cotton are my best friend in the heat after spending several summers in Greece/Italy - it's the only way! Hope you are staying cool this summer!

    Great tips! The only spot where I disagree is on rings :) I can barely stand to wear my wedding rings in the summer since they get a smidge tight, my hands sweat, I'm frequently putting on sunscreen, etc. I generally just stick with light earrings, a hat, and sunnies! I also pick linen and cotton dresses that flow on the bottom, but fitted up top so that I don't need to wear a bra. I have a bigger bust, so bras can get pretty sweaty. But I've also found cute but supportive soft/wireless bras. I wear a lot of white, light blue, pink, and beige in the summer since they are cooler than darker colors.

    It is extremely hot and humid where I live so this video is perfect timing. I stick with linen (not a fan of wrinkles) but it is so breathable and lightweight. Cotton is also my "go-to." I agree that heavy jewelry is a "no go" for hot days. I stick to a very delicate necklace and stud earrings. Great tips, as usual, Alyssa...thanks!

    Here in Phoenix Arizona, lava hot here. We hibernate indoors a good portion of the time which means air conditioning. I end up bringing a sweater with me everywhere, especially the grocery store!

    Great tips as usual but definitely not for me. I absolutely hate summer. For me, personally, there is no way to look put together when heat and humidity are high ... makeup melts, hair frizzes out, and I don't like summer fashion whatsoever. I tend to "hibernate" in the summer until I make my return to society in the fall and winter months! Ha, ha, ha! Have a great day, Alyssa!

I’m struggling right now finding a job it’s so hot I sweat so much and start stressing 😭plus I have social anxiety which makes it so much worse since I already sweat in social situations now in this heat I just can’t take it plus I have low self esteem becasue of how big I am so I only wear sweats and sweaters and hoodies and now I’m so lost

    Hi Alyssa, Cindy here. Greetings from the very hot Valley of the Sun, Phoenix, AZ. It is supposed to hit 113 degrees today and this video was oh so timely. In an extreme, dry climate where it's so easy to forego style in favor of shorts, a tank top and flipflops, your video reminds us that we CAN look stylish even in this extreme heat. Your advice on wearing metal earrings was on point. All it takes is a walk from my office to my car in the parking lot and my earrings are hot to the touch! Your video was inspirational to take it up a notch. Keep up the good work! Hugs from Phoenix. Cindy

      I so agree, I live in Australia where we have summer for 8 months of the year and viscose or rayon is my favourite summer fabric. I know its not so environmentally friendly but it breathes so well and is more light weight than cotton, doesn’t wrinkle as much as linen, has a beautiful drape like silk (but silk here in summer is too clammy) and is inexpensive. The downsides are you have to be careful to wash in cold water as hot water will disintegrate the fabric and it will lose its shape and look shabby quickly if you wash in warm water.

    Watching this from Aus where it’s winter. Gloriously sunny morning today but chilly inside so watching with cup of tea and a hot water bottle.
    To me jeans are a seasonal item which I never think of wearing in summer. Would melt. Likewise long-sleeved tops, regardless of fabric.
    I’m all about dresses in summer - cotton or cotton jersey, and generally sleeveless or short sleeved. Casual for the weekend, smarter for work. I’m not mad on wearing strapless bras so not so much shoe string straps. Totally agree on the maxi-dress, unless it’s a slightly cooler evening!
    Yes to shorts with light weight t-shirt or tank style tops, and I do occasionally wear light weight slightly cropped summer pants on cooler summer days.
    Summer wool can be a surprisingly good option!

      Ironing linen only makes it wrinkle more creasely....soft wrinkles are preferred. Hang dry and maybe fluff in the dryer for a smidge to soften.

    • @susie9893
      @susie9893 Pƙed 3 lety +2

      Or maybe we just get used to the wrinkles and not care anymore? 😁
      I think, over time, you just get better at picking items where the wrinkles matter less - that's certainly true of the linen clothes that have stayed in my increasingly minimal closet.
      (That would make a good video probably - how to choose linen clothing in terms of cut AND quality)

    I wear a lot of rayon spandex knits and I find they are much cooler than cotton knits. Also rayon wovens are airy, flows, and cooling. I’m a 70 year with a very warm body, so cool even in winter is what I need. Love your videos. Appropriate for western New York!

    It's so hot in the Summers where I live too! Great tips! I sweat so fast wearing polyesters, but love silks in Summer too. I live in cotton and linens pretty much, or just wear my swimsuit outside since I am staying home mostly.

      A swimsuit can actually be quite hot - usually lined - so unless constantly having dips, I don't think it answers.
      And I love the idea of wearing silk in summer, great way to have dual season items eg. silk cami. But I just sweat so much in silk. Am currently looking into the silk merino blends - so pleased to have found they are making this option now but yet to find a cut I like

    LOVE it. Silk is very cool in the summer and warm in the winter, well its what I learnt when I visited China and visited their silk worms factory, it was incredible to experience the silk being removed from the worms. I enjoy traveling, last year I went to Italy with my family for my 50th birthday in Venice but travelled elsewhere with my 13 year old twin girls who spent their 12th birthday in Florence, such an amazing country. We went to Rome where we started from and ended up in Venice. I love fashion and I did a lot of research on how to dress. I took a lot of scarves as it was in April, gorgeous weather. Thank God we went last year because of covid-19, we don't see how we canpossibly travel. With wearing mask here in Ontario, it's not funny especially when I love my makeup to go work, plsdo a video with wearing mask, I have been do I g my eyes with brighter pallet. Thank you very much, love from Ontario, well Vaughan where there are a lot of Italians, beautiful people. I love Tuscany too.
