Jojo is one of a kind. Truly unique. A perfect balance between technique and musicality.
When the keyboard player has a turtleneck on, you’d better buckle up, it’s gonna get wild.
Salut
That's hilarious!
😆
Lmfao
Jojo's performance here is out of this world
One of the GOATs for sure
Before the pandemic I went to a nerve show in philly. It was the debut show of their new concert philsophy, where the brand isnt on stage, but scattered all around the audience. Me and my buddies stood about 3 feet behind him playing his drum set and they opened with this track. It was one of the most incredible things ive ever witnessed.
@@yeagemk Dude that's super awesome
@@KOOLEE88 bro their shows are so intimate. If you haven't been to one you gotta! Feeling his bass drum rattle your fillings loose is a whole different animal lol!
@@yeagemk ive been on their show in Bydgoszcz and we sat all around them, even on the Floor, a very pretty experiance
Hell yeah! I saw Jojo in some small bar in Perth, Australia doing a drum clinic about 10 years ago and I've been obsessed with his drumming ever since. Dude is a creative genius.
That bald sound and keyboard guy is dope!! The silent glue to hold this all together.
Wish there was a Fantastic planet-ish movie with Nerve making the soundtrack. I want to understand nothing throughout the movie but feeling deeply moved when it's over
Talking about music for sharks(the album the song is a part of) listening to it you really do feel you're under water and submechanophobic.
Very nice! Jojo takes his trio/rhythm section experience to new levels. Good to see the soundman grooving even more than the band.
Jojo, you're my top drummer. I can't say how much I appreciate what you've got to offer. I love you. Keep going.
Jojo Mayer is from a different planet for sure.
The 8th note displacement of the Keyboard over that 'Latin type' vibe toward the end is brilliant. Nerve is pushing the envelope. Keep on pushing Jojo
what's envelope?
@@northernhemisphere4906 I had to check the origins of this idiom. One of the other definitions of envelope is a performance limit of a aircraft or spaceship. So "pushing the envelope" means to go past the accepted safe limits of the machine. This statement eventually filtered down past NASA/astronaut types and into everyday English to mean "push past established boundaries". Basically to do something new....lol.
@@doublestrokeroll damn that sounds hella cool
much obliged for research🤙
I live for NERVE live perfomances
Me too, I may need to go throw money at their patreon to see more of the music from sharks performances
Holy pocket, this is some of the tightest creative drumming I've heard in a while..
I second that!
Expanding you? Spend time here
If you haven't already seen it, look up Jojo's "Textural Technique" series (3 parts) which is also on the Vic Firth channel. Jojo's creativity is off the charts!
@@Tekkerue I'll be sure to check it out, thanks for the rec. He's a game changer!
Almost too tight. Kinda hard to listen to IMO
If any young drummer asks me for advice on playing hi hats and cymbals, I point to Jojo
Sick Grooves!
Sick, such a legend, my fav drummer, good to see he's still active ! Great job Vic Firth
Music. Beautiful work by everyone.
At last,they're back
The way he attack the rythim its from another galaxy ! Jojo always on top
Jojo the 👑
Jojo is Perfect
I listened to this a lot. I love this stuff
Where’s the option for “automatic like” for every Jojo’s performance?!??
Love them!
beautifully haunting
After this, i love Jojo Mayer, someone rec me some off this stuff, been missing out on him
nice take on this track, recommend the full album (music for sharks) to anyone who likes this. hoping to see a video for “blacktip reef shark”, too.
Such flow!
Incredible!!!
Love the groove so much!🔥🔥🔥
Outstanding!
Wow! Matched grip throughout the entire track.
He’s mentioned in an interview he’s playing matched a lot more recently due to age and concern about tearing his left rotator cuff. It wouldn’t be an issue with a normal setup that does have anything to the left, but since his setup does, he’s been considerate of it
Thanks Master!! abracos from brazil
Fantastic , itsss exitanteeee
Spot On ..So Good!!! :-)!
Damn, didnt know he also plays matched grip as well as traditional.....😍 What an incredible drummer!!
Love Jojo!
Alucinante JOJO 🇨🇱

Immer eine Inspiration
I like the guy playing the Allen & Heath sound board
It would have been awesome if this was the version that was put on the album!
I like so much!!! NERVE !!!
The camera work is good how it goes to different angles at the right times when it captures something great.
It might B the camera work of John Davis
MORE!
Wow! The best! :-)
Clinic!
Why would anyone give this a thumbs down?! If it's not your jam, then move along. Don't give it a thumbs down. The fuck?
jojo is a true master
Hell yeah 🔥🔥🔥
f yeah!!!!!!!! was this done recently.
nerve is next level
Спасибо большое!!!
Wow
Anyone know what’s on his Aux snare? I’ve seen him play it before and I absolutely love the sound
knowing how evil a goblin shark looks, I expected this to sound more ominous.
Fuck yeah!!!!!!! Love this
Increíble
Solid!! Big Digs! Cheers!;-)!
Fuaaaaaaaakkk yessssss.
That was naughty
That left-hand floor tom hit just after 2:01 though....
As good as macaroni

Meraviglioso Unico travolgente......
i love his signature --- uhm pfla bahhh -- so much
Matched grip ;)
Amazing performance. Just wish that the drums and bass sat a little higher in the mix.
the bass is under heavy effects
What are you listening on?
With the right speakers that bass is THICKKK
Supercool.
👊💪
Noise.....
саунд - супер!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
🕊
Jo Jo, Jaco Pastorious, Hendrix and Miles would be interesting!
2:00 sounds dope on .75 speed lol.
Are tunable sound shapes still a thing? What’s the next best thing in comparison?
I want Jojo’s hands!
Damn!, was that hit on the hi-hat clutch at around 2:22 on purpose? It fits so seamlessly well that I'm inclined to say it has to be.
I don't think it was on purpose... Since his arm/hand movement is on time, almost anything would fit the song
@@marcusbirylaby no kidding? LOL oh well, guess it's really my fault for not making sure the "ironic bafflement" with that clutch hit would surface on my comment. Jokes aside, I'm pretty aware it was some sort of happy accident, I'm a drummer as well. But hey, thanks for the notice, anyway (:
edit: typo
Whats more impressive is that you heard that! Good ears
He did it at 2:03 aswell, so I guess it was
Looks like the Bunker
can someone pls tell me what the red glowing thing the sound guy uses i know what it does but idk what its called
