    I feel like people kinda underestimate their televote potential. They are pretty established artists and a lot of people around Europe know them/grew up with their music, at least in some western countries like Germany, Netherlands or France. Now I'm not saying that they will smash the televote, but I see potential for top 10 in the televote.

      Never underestimate the televoting power of millions of 8-15 year old girls in northern/Western Europe where the fanbase is established as well as new fans probably popping up in the rest of Europe. On top of that the song is quite Daft Punk “clubby” and has the best staging so far, which will appeal to many 18-30 year olds as well - and especially the jury!
      It’s a safe top 10 and potential lower top 5. But not a winner of course.

    • @in_wino_veritas
      @in_wino_veritas Před měsícem +1

      @@Fluxwux why only girls, not boys as well? But yeah, if you're talking about the Netherlands, it also do well with people aged 15 to 30, not just 8 to 15. But yes, teenagers don't throw away their own money in this app, but their parents' money, so they might vote all 20 times possible, while older people might be more cautious with money and might only vote for a couple of times. And yes, it's a very electronic, hardstyle song which conveys a great message, so people who are 18 and older and who aren't solely listening to pop, might be voting for it as well.

    • @Fluxwux
      @Fluxwux Před měsícem +2

      @@in_wino_veritas I mostly talk about 8-15 year old girls because it’s the stereotypical/overrepresented fans of M&M here in Scandinavia that will spam vote 20 times, but many boys and guys like them as well of course! The sound is according to me a bit generic but still pure pop perfection and appeals to people outside the traditional fanbase due to that the sound on the ESC stage is probably the most “modern” club song with hints of Daft punk and the whole 90s/synth nostalgia (but with a modern twist) going on in pop culture at the moment.

I reckon I've watched more interviews with M&M than any other contestant as they come across so well (personal favourite is their Blue Peter appearance LOL) I hope they get a good result as I think it'd be well deserved!!

    I actually really like it. I was a bit indifferent at first but it’s ridiculously catchy and it’s crawled its way into my top 10.
    That being said, I doubt it will get more than 20-30 televote points. Correct me if I’m wrong, but since 2017 the most points won by the show opener is 32.
    I think it will come 6th-10th with the jury and probably bottom 5 in the televote. Overall around 13th-17th.

      No, melovin got 119 points from the televote as an opening act in 2018. Ukraine also got 112 points from televote in 2014. Azerbaijan finished 5th in televote with 161 points in 2010. So no, being first does not mean it will completely tank in the televote. It's just that the producers usually start the grand final with a song that is upbeat but not that much of a televote magnet. We can cope and say that the songs starting the final are really good but that's only inside the eurovision bubble.

    Hi, thanks for the review! Some reflections. What's the deal with having to have an instant memorable, catchy chorus in every song? I think it's a very one-sided and narrow-minded way of thinking. I'm sorry! A song is a journey, where every note counts and can be at least as interesting or even more so without a chorus to pick up right away!? This song is definitely that, starts captivating and mysterious with various electronic sounds. Then the beat kicks in and it becomes very catchy and advances to a heavy club beat, boosted of electro to volume up. Here, their fine voices are also mixed in with different timbres. And there is a constant energy in the song through varying strength of the beat and their energetic delivery on stage.
    Strange, because most people I hear say it's very catchy, which is also the effect I get when I listen to it. I start to move quite immediately and want to dance! I think people haven't given the song a fair chance. (It took me a couple of listens to the studio version to get it's whole vibe together).
    As Jan Bors says, it's extremely enjoyable in the headphones, this very well composed electro pop song (his 4th place). I turn up the volume and dig. And we are not teenagers rather around 40 I guess.
    There is a clear theme here and every little detail is carefully chosen to create the feel of the number. Professionalism and creativity stand behind and should be rewarded. I am SO tired of the comparison with Benjamin, as this song has a completely different dynamic, higher tempo and expand, both energy-wise and show-wise. Not a chance that this song will come 5th last in the televote, a hint to the written comments!
    They will upgrade the outfits, not change it completely but make it more futuristic. A dancer must go, to match the rules. These guys aren't here just for fun, they have winning instincts, want to win (they won't). Which inspire respect and what they should also receive!! They are extremely ambitious, determined, have enormous experience, won "winner of the year" prize in Norway only 15 years old, the biggest you can get etc. They are too professional and humble people to be talked about in the low level seen here in the comments!! 😡
    The lyrics have some connections to their own experiences, such as Marcus who values his relationship highly, hence the title. The whole number should breathe a cool, tough, dark, "industrial futuristic" club vibe, which the lyrics thus match. Nothing strange at all.
    Are people equally critical to "Zorra" (transl. bitch/slut) which is repeated over 40 times during the song. Or to Cyprus "Liar" with lyrics about a girl who is mad at a guy who doesn't give her enough attention.? And do you think the lyrics in Kaleen's song are deeper that repeat "we ram-di-dum-dum da, we will rave" essentially the whole song? Or "Luktelk" (wait a bit) which also repeats its title over 20 times during the song. Compared to some, this is (almost) good. In pure dancy songs/club songs as these, I do not have the same high standards on texts such as “changing the world".
    And statement that they jump around and look silly is total nonsense, it creates energy between them, with the audience and fits the song. Do you prefer Saba who doesn't move her feet throughout the song, despite its expanding pop vibe.
    I am ashamed of some comments on their behalf quite frankly. Not okay, but they simply don't grasp the beauty in this. That was all from me, sorry for the long comment.🌷

Visuals are great, as you say it's not as disconnected as Benjamin Ingrosso was. And I'll hand it to the boys that they're great performers; I saw them live in Amsterdam this weekend and they were great on stage, they sang well, danced well, good charisma (I'll forgive them for shouting "Holland!" when they came on stage). The song is nothing interesting though. I didn't care for "Air" (super boring as a radio song) and this one isn't better. I guess that's what happens if SVT wants Melfest to appeal to such a broad range of people; I guess it's really fun when you're in such a varied audience in the arena, but it keeps everything that's risky or interesting far, far away.

I understand the song because I have had some of these experiences in my life. Once in my youth I met an extremely beautiful and sexy woman in a disco that I instantly , in ONE second, fell in love with when I saw her smile. That love consumed me and it did not become better when I found out that she was a high end prostitute working fashionable nightclubs and 5 star hotels. For me the text is meaningful as hell.
