Hurricane fan here and I didn't expect a young QB like Conner Weigman to be as poised and accurate as he was. You have a stud there at QB. His 2 int's were not on him, the first the Receiver fell down and the second was simply a late effort in desperation. I've re-watched the game and have nothing but admiration of Conner Weigman and your receivers. Based on our first game I think Durkin expected us to play smash mouth so he shut down our running attack. If he watched film from 2022 he should've watched TVD in 2021, even we were not sure if we would get 2021 TVD or 2022 TVD you got 2021 TVD and we feel blessed.

I’m not saying yall aren’t good, clearly yall are, but yall had trouble getting pressure when yall didn’t blitz as well. That was basically us for two thirds of the game. I’m not unwilling to give yall credit, but the approach was different. Yalls was superior and we have to get our D coord on point. If ours had been the same, or done by your D coordinator, i think yall would have had more than your hands full. What I’m saying is, I’d trade yall DC for ours in a heart beat. Thank you for giving us some credit. As a canes fan, I read all the projections and we were not picked to win. We don’t have as much talent as A/M. And we gave up 2 touchdowns on short short fields. If we don’t do that, this game could look worse than it does. Losing 3 starters on the defensive line during the game didn’t help either. I hope we can get better as the year moves along.

Your delivery has definitely improved. A&M is a great university very rich in tradition. All schools have traditions but none run deeper and broader than Texas A&M. Unfortunately, complacency has also become a tradition! Oh well there's always next year has become our mantra. Our athletic programs will not be great until only greatness is expected and mediocrity is completely unacceptable. We are mired in decades upon decades of mediocrity. As long as we continue to accept mediocrity, it is all we will ever have. Out of 132 schools in the FBS, nobody has done less with more than Jimbo Fisher. I am tired of hearing excuses and if's and buts. Jimbo obviously does not have it to give. His 10 year extension will go down in the annals of football history as the dumbest move ever by any athletic Director. I like Ross, but he should be fired immediately on general principle for incompetence!

I understand the circumstance when Jimbo was given an extension, but we did the same with Sumlin to a lesser degree; get a little success and here's a huge reward. I'm fine with the bonus, but the time and complacency can set in from that point. Ppl seem to ride high on the fatted calf after they have been enriched. Frankly, I'm tired of it. But I'm still and Aggie and have a tenacious drive to see the best case scenario; I fight it in every preview and prediction.

True. Ill say this though, we did not stunt much or bring extra bodies. I don’t think its as much about the players as it is the scheme and calls. Y’all do have a quality O line which helped a lot. We got to Mauigoa a few times, but he did a good job and will be very good.
The talk about not being able to get home with just the d line, no blitz, because of where the kids rank has some merit. The d line is all 5 stars and loaded with depth so you would think they could do it but they just can’t. Really is shocking and proves their is some sort of disconnect like you said with either scheme or what they are being taught. Then I look at the team I root for in Texas and they sacked Bama 5 times, held them to 3.1 yards rushing and constantly were beating bama o line. No reason Aggie shouldn’t be doing the same.
Durkin and Jimbo need to realize this. It does not matter, it does not matter, IT DOES NOT MATTER how many guys you have back in coverage and how good they are, if the qb is given a week to throw the ball someone will always get open. A&M should be able to get home with four with their talent, but they can’t, so suck it up and adjust. If your going to let receivers get open, you might as well blitz. So BRING THE HEAT or every quarterback will do exactly what Van Dyke did and you’ll get into track meets that you can’t win.
Fisher knows football, he's an amazing recruiter, and if he has a star-studded staff he performs well. But he has been failing as CEO. Addazio, Durkin, etc. are all his. H needs to know how to hire and fire. Horrible coaching. Like I mentioned last week. No reason upperclassmen like richardson should be making mistakes. When all the previews were talking about Weigman i was harping on Durkin as a cane fan. Because i couldn't fathom how a team with the DL A&M has, go through a season and be ranked 123 in run defense and 111 in sacks. Its inexcuseable. I thought we were gonna run, which it seems he did focus on it but then he had no answer to stop the Pass game. I do think people are a little overboard acting like yall lost to a FCS team. But we brought in 43 new players and revamped the OL and basically changed the entire coaching staff, except 4. We are a new team but people view us as 5-7. Anyways yeah, Durkin is not it but Weigman is the real deal and your OL is pretty good at pass blocking, just not alot of schematic help there and i credit Guidry who had a great defense at Marshall. They won 8 games with a terrible offense off his Defense. And yes we played with urgency it was our big weekend for recruits to see we really are serious about changing the program. We brought in alot to visit. Good luck rest of the way, 8 or 9 wins is still there, for us as well. Not going overboard, we still building

If Durkin doesn’t change and start to make adjustments then A&M will end up 7-5 and Jimbo will be fired. Honestly, as horrible as it is to say, I think this is what happens. Losses to Bama, Tenn, Ole Piss and LSU on top of this one to Miami. Jimbo needs to light a fire under the whole team and he has to force Durkin to have 4 down lineman at all time and blitz more often

I'm a Cane fan! A&M defense is fine! You just ran up against a great to elite passing QB in Canes TVD! Your not going to play a SEC starting QB this year who can make all the throws like TVD. There is a reason, Alabama was reportedly trying to get TVD to transfer to Alabama. That wasn't going to happen. Miami boosters weren't going to allow that to happen. Besides TVD is a Connecticut kid. People from that NYC greater area basically call South Florida their second home!
I think you guys have a very talented team, your offense will be awesome this season I think as the players get more experience and the roles become more defined. You got your qb and that is half the battle with great skill players around him who just will get better with more seasoning and reps/confidence. The defense is a little more tricky and will depend on matchups, I dont know how many good qbs you will play this season but the scheme will hold back. The dline is talented but I didnt notice any real twitched up speed passrushers, more jumbo sized power rushers, that will help with run D I assume but its tough to rush 3 and then the back end also not be as talented as last years #1 ranked pass D. Seems you lost a couple guys to NFL and the guys who were supposed to inherit the positions transferred to LSU, Hou, Duke, etc. That is tough to lose that much and not have a drop off. Durkin seems to be tryna protect the back end but now its no pressure and big pass plays. Either way good luck on season, will check in every now and again.

I didn't think he blamed yall particularly, but there were some things that really bounce balls way during the game, those are just facts. There was an OPI when you received threw our DB in the end zone. The field was in terrible condition, although I'll guide that blame more towards our equipment team since I didn't see yall slipping as much, and the non call on the kick off return for a TD. Did they miss some holdings on us, yes, as they did yall. The holding on the kick off return is not the same. When single plays result in points, those make a big difference. If those two calls are made correctly, we likely win.

Just like baseball they have the technology to call balls and strikes perfect without an ump, but then you're taking part of the game away. I watched it again as I always do, didn't see anything egregious. They both played on the same field thats not an advantage either way because Miami definitely doesnt practice on that field. If Jimbo can break down why you slip then I say you probably should of been ready, he was Florida States coach, if anyone knows Miamis Stadium its Jimbo haha. I will go back and watch the kickoff and see if I see anything. I dont think anyone had time to commit a penalty he was gone past everyone in abt 3 seconds, then it was smooth sailing. I still think y’all will have a good season. Weigman is legit and only a Sophomore. From what I saw … Both teams made huge strides from last year but still have some big areas of concern. I’m really glad we’re not heading back to an at home for you guys next year because I think you’ll have it all dialed in by end of this year. Good Game Aggies … GL rest of the year.
If Durkin doesn’t change and start to make adjustments then A&M will end up 7-5 and Jimbo will be fired. Honestly, as horrible as it is to say, I think this is what happens. Losses to Bama, Tenn, Ole Piss and LSU on top of this one to Miami. Jimbo needs to light a fire under the whole team and he has to force Durkin to have 4 down lineman at all time and blitz more often

lots of ball still to play! Durkin seems so stuck in his ways and the answer seems so obvious, so naturally I just don't have confidence in his ability. Perhaps there are more underlying problems and this is the best way to proceed, but that doesn't make me feel any better.

Rough game. Lots of weird calls, but our defense just isn't very good sadly.
I’d like to see them with a more aggressive scheme. I just think we are too passive to make a good call on that just yet. I think we are all comfortable saying they can be good, but clearly you are right in that they haven’t performed very well. But you are your results at the end of the day.

I'm a Cane fan! A&M defense is fine! You just ran up against a great to elite passing QB in Canes TVD! Your not going to play a SEC starting QB this year who can make all the throws like TVD. There is a reason, Alabama was reportedly trying to get TVD to transfer to Alabama. That wasn't going to happen. Miami boosters weren't going to allow that to happen. Besides TVD is a Connecticut kid. People from that NYC greater area basically call South Florida their second home!
I think you guys have a very talented team, your offense will be awesome this season I think as the players get more experience and the roles become more defined. You got your qb and that is half the battle with great skill players around him who just will get better with more seasoning and reps/confidence. The defense is a little more tricky and will depend on matchups, I dont know how many good qbs you will play this season but the scheme will hold back.
The dline is talented but I didnt notice any real twitched up speed passrushers, more jumbo sized power rushers, that will help with run D I assume but its tough to rush 3 and then the back end also not be as talented as last years #1 ranked pass D. Seems you lost a couple guys to NFL and the guys who were supposed to inherit the positions transferred to LSU, Hou, Duke, etc. That is tough to lose that much and not have a drop off. Durkin seems to be tryna protect the back end but now its no pressure and big pass plays. Either way good luck on season, will check in every now and again.

I don’t disagree, but we are talking past each other, two different wave lengths. You seem to think your D Line dominated our O line. To me that means, 1-to-1 they won, meaning you think your D line beat our O line when yall didn’t bring a blitz. Is that right?
If so, I’d say you need to rewatch. Y’all did a great job bringing pressure. If you want to count bringing 7 man blitzes and saying you beat our O line, so be it. I applaud yall for your scheme. Heck i wish we had done that. But realistically, for two thirds of the game, yall brought blitzes and we didn’t. Is it any wonder our QB was pressure and yours wasn’t.
TVD did do well on some of those blitz, he made some key throws. so I’m not trying to take anyting away from him or yall, but if we are spitting facts, Weigman literally has pressure on 66% of plays per PFF. Surely you aren’t going to argue we tried to bring the same pressure? It was obvious we were trying to get home with 4 rushers all game all.

I didn't think he blamed yall particularly, but there were some things that really bounce balls way during the game, those are just facts. There was an OPI when you received threw our DB in the end zone. The field was in terrible condition, although I'll guide that blame more towards our equipment team since I didn't see yall slipping as much, and the non call on the kick off return for a TD.
Did they miss some holdings on us, yes, as they did yall. The holding on the kick off return is not the same. When single plays result in points, those make a big difference. If those two calls are made correctly, we likely win.
@@atmcoldchills I honestly didnt see a kickoff hold, but missed calls are part of the game if you wanna use human refs.... Just like baseball they have the technology to call balls and strikes perfect without an ump, but then you're taking part of the game away. I watched it again as I always do, didn't see anything egregious. They both played on the same field thats not an advantage either way because Miami definitely doesnt practice on that field. If Jimbo can break down why you slip then I say you probably should of been ready, he was Florida States coach, if anyone knows Miamis Stadium its Jimbo haha. I will go back and watch the kickoff and see if I see anything. I dont think anyone had time to commit a penalty he was gone past everyone in abt 3 seconds, then it was smooth sailing. Trust as a Miami fan we were robbed of a national championship by a terrible ref so I would say Miamis fanbase understand getting screwed over. But complaining after a game where you just flat out lost is a bad look, SEC fans always complain the most.
