    Have you ever considered using dry-brushing and black washing techniques on your models? I believe, your friend and fellow ship-modeler from Kiev, whose collection you have shown on your channel, uses those a lot (to a point of being overdone a little :-) ).

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  Před 2 lety

      Thank you very much!
      I'm glad you like it!
      I prefer traditional methods of protection or tinting of the model. Most of the original museum models have shellac or oils and the dark color on them is the result of centuries...
      But no one forbids you to age the wood with paint. Unless, if you want to take part in competitions of the international organization NAVIGA - your model will get to a class "painted" where big battleships usually take part and chances of a victory for small ships on volume of works simply are not present...

  • @aleksandrbezfamilnuy9235

    Эх Ольга, понимаю, что уже поздно, тем не менее.
    Этот скос после носового возвышения (сорри, терминологию не использую, что бы было понятнее для всех) смотрится чужеродным. Я бы тоже набирал его дощечками с неким брусом поверху. Ну не существует в природе деревьев, из которых можно сделать доски такой ширины.
    А так корабль прекрасен. Одна из моих первых крупных моделей в школьном возрасте была именно "Санта Мария". Естественно до моделей вашего уровня ей было весьма далеко. И я тогда сделал ошибку, раскрасив корабль в соответствии с картинкой в журнале. А надо было темным лаком. После покраски корабль потерял половину своего обаяния.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  Před rokem

      Лучше терминологию писать, если я буду пересматривать каждий раз видео после всех кометариев и искать какой я там скос и где делала - не останется времени на стройку!
      Я так поняла что ето одна из книц?
      Но к стати про деревья - в тот период их как раз еще било болле чем достаточно и так же в тот период строили максимально "надежно" поетому часто можно било увидеть гигантские конструкции. Даже на ВАСА там необично масивние кнмци встановлени...

    • @aleksandrbezfamilnuy9235
      @aleksandrbezfamilnuy9235 Před rokem

      @@OlhaBatchvarov Да, передняя кница. Вполне возможно, что супермассивных деревьев тогда хватало, соглашусь, только вот не очень толстая большая по площади деревянная пластина не является надежным элементом в среде переменной влажности. Это я как инженер-кораблестроитель утверждаю. Клеенный массив - еще возможно, это да.
      На том же линкоре "Полтава" мачты например клеенные. Правда это корабль несколько более поздней эпохи.
      Лично я сделал бы все же имитацию досок. Просто органичнее смотрелось бы. Правда и взгляд на моделизм у меня не классический. Я предпочитал делать"по мотивам" скорее.
      Но это все вкусовщина с моей стороны и никак не умаляет красоты ваших кораблей.
      Спасибо за видео.

    Love your videos Olha! Your work is inspiring. I have really been getting very interested in trying to put together a wooden model ship and have absolutely no experience. What kit would you recommend to a novice that is easy to obtain and still in production?

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you!
      Building wooden ships is a long process - so I can only give you one recommendation - choose the one you like, otherwise you will not be interested in building and you will never finish the model! It is also a misconception to buy a boat or something small to see if you can build such wooden ships - sometimes it is harder to put a boat together than a schooner or a brig! Also, choose a not very small scale...
