Decided I'd see these guys live since they're coming through my area later this week. Been listening to Etemen Ænka and Voidkind a fair bit over the past week, and im quite enjoying this band; like a cool combination of mastodon and later rivers of nihil. Gotta get to the debut before I see them.

This album reminds me of mastodon and baroness if both bands were more into the sludge metal sound of their early albums add a little bit of cave in's heavy pendulum and that's how I describe the album

Kinda as you mentioned, I came across this band while being on the voyage of filling a gap left from older Mastodon's stuff, and I was quite pleasantly surprised when I heard their first two albums.. I was very excited when I saw they are releasing a new album this year, will give it a listen right now! :)

I've got this album but not had a chance to jam it yet (High On Fire and My Dying Bride are still on replay) but I was a big fan of their previous album, and judging by the great reviews Voidkind has been getting, I have high hopes I'll love that one too.

This album is really good. It has an interesting concept.

    The score is unfair.
It is a great album that needs more listens .
It is not as straightforward as the previous one.
Less groovy, more dark and introvert.
    It's easily a 4/5 for me.
One of the promising new bands for sure.

¿? The album is more straightforward than the previous one, the band members said they wanted a more direct approach and the album is shorter. It's just a matter of taste.

Etemen Aenka's songs , rhythms, grooves , and choruses were accessible to the listeners from the beginning. You could bring them up to your mind and sing along from the first listen. That is not the case here .
The main focus in this album is the dark chaotic sludge riffing and the dark, anti organized religion lyrical themes .
This album requires far more listens in order to be understood than Etemen Aenka .
      This is what I meant.
As far as the bands approach, I have known it since last September when they entered the studio, and they expressed their willingness to create something shorter with less atmospheric interludes.
The point , however, is that , in my opinion , our host hurried to make this review and should have given it more time in order to appreciate it better and more profound.
I really love and believe in this band .
For a 54 year old metal fan , it is not that easy to say this for a new band.
Greetings, my friend, and thank you for your reply.
Our beloved music will always connect us.

I'm listening to it for a month now and hell this is a grower. I loved Etemen Aenka from the start, but I found Voidkind a bit disappointing at first. Now I can't decide which one I like more.
