    My genuine Mercedes Wheels cracked (2 of them) and they came on a brand new MB from the dealership. Just goes to show that genuine ones with bad city potholes will crack too.

      I can confirm my W212 E350 Mercedes AMG wheel cracked with a hair line crack. No rash, no abuse, no bending, in just 215,000 miles of normal driving.

    I own a w222 which came with the 20 inch oem Amg multispoke wheels. I previously owned a w218 on which I installed replica 20 inch amg multispoke wheels and both sets were never abused or mistreated by potholes. My oem s class wheels failed horribly, just goes to show you how sometimes the regulatory associations would rather back a party who invests in them.

    Who is stupid enough to drive at 50kmph on a fucked up road when he knows he has 18+ inch wheels? :)) Even if the rim doesn't crack the tire will be cut immediately.
    I have 20inch on my car, i drive like my grandma when i'm not on a perfect road! :D

    lol, its very misleading indeed. any non forged wheel will break like that. its not a matter of fake or not.

    I don't understand something.
    if these fake wheels are indeed not the genuine product, then why the heck they have the " Germany and the serial parts shaved "??? were they stolen goods?
    then does that make me fake???
    I'm a bit confused 😕

      +No Way - they most likely would have been made by creating a mould of an original wheel, which would have included the authentic Benz badging/lettering.

    It's a simple process to cast aluminum wheels. You pour molten aluminum into a mold and you have a wheel. I was a service advisor and I saw lots of Mercedes OEM wheels cracked, broken, dented from every day potholes. The whole point of this is that Mercedes (along with other Auto manufacturers) want you to buy their ridiculously overpriced wheel(s) over the replicas. The problem is that most people that are buying wheels from dealerships are insurance companies to fix a wrecked vehicle. Auto manufacturers know this, so they jack up the price of the wheel. The truth is, you can drive on replica wheels for thousands of miles and have no issues...

    If it’s such a important deal, why don’t you lower the prices of your genuine wheels! Tell me why my c63 507 edition are 8,000 usd a set?

      +Ricky Julian Mmmm it was at Holden's Proving Ground with a Holden Evaluation Driver behind the wheel. Benz do not have the same level of facility to test cars as Holden does in Australia

  • @Daniel-bm6jg
    @Daniel-bm6jg Před 7 lety

    There is no right and wrong. Possibly the type of pothole you tested the vehicle in was "exposed to the maximum impact force..." plus this was on "Holden's Proving Ground.... with specially calibrated potholes which replicates the types of conditions motorists can find on Australian roads"... most roads these days are being upgraded and well maintained. Plus in Sydney, potholes are mostly not as severe like the one shown in the video and it is common sense people will slow down on roads that are rough. Recognized retailers do precaution buyers that warranty will be voided if wheels are damaged by reckless use of them and speeding on rough terrain. So don't have to worry a great deal if the wheels are being sold from a reputable retailer who also provide the warranty features direct from the manufacturers, unlike wheels bought online from an unknown manufacturer.
    I would firstly think it would be unwise to buy online without plenty of research and visiting a recognised retailer to see for yourself the quality and warranty provided. This kind of video can target and negatively affect businesses in the tyre & wheel businesses that are doing right by law.

    Mercedes are taking the piss by trying to compare their wheels against aftermarket. It’s a known fact that OEM Mercedes wheels crack even if you hit the mildest of potholes.
    I’ve had a wheel crack twice on my C43, which Merc don’t want to know about
    When you can buy FOUR aftermarket wheels for less than Mercedes want for ONE wheel, what would you choose !
    I’d be staggered if the OEM wheel in this test didn’t crack

    Was this AD sponsored by Donald Trump? Genuine AMG 18" 7 spoke wheels not with just 1 crack but 3. Just glad the safety feature worked and the tyre deflated before the rim totally disintegrated. So much for genuine parts. And interesting how Mercedes in the US, managed to have a class action citing these genuine rims as being faulty at manufacture thrown out of court.

  • @Daniel-bm6jg
    @Daniel-bm6jg Před 7 lety +1

    Just to let you know BMW, Subaru and many other models from different car manufacturers are known for their use of BBS Rims. You can't be anymore further away from the truth that you are negatively affecting businesses that are selling genuine wheels.... I hope you guys rectify this research before you are sued for public defamation of other potential businesses you may inadvertently attacking through this upload.
