The Americans have been played. I lived in Asia for 20 years. No one listened. The writing was on the wall but ... people just ignored it all.

To pick up on the words of Yellen. The "playing field" is not level because the Chinese government have have 'massively subsidized investment' in EV and green energy. That is just good old fashion investment. If the Chinese were just good old fashion capitalist they would just raise the prices to maximize profit since the playing field is not level in their favor because of their investments. But they want to provide affordable EV and other products to everyone including the poor. How jaded is the US thinking. Would the US and the G7 still have a problem if the Chinese just raises their prices on EV for them and only them??
