Source: www.spreaker.com/user/praireh... Today is the birthday of novelist and poet Rosellen Brown, born in 1939. Her novels include “Tender Mercies” and most recently “Half a Heart”.
Why didn't I know about this before?? I've missed The Writer's Almanac since it left the radio; very important to me during some hard times. I'll be listening daily from now on. Great hearing you again, Garrison!
Florence Nightingale's effectiveness as an advocate is an illustration of how bold a person born into an empowered circumstance can be. The working class nurses would have had to risk much more to undertake the cause she did. Thanks Mr. Keillor, for the story.
Thank you Garrison. The Writer's Almanac is the perfect way to start my day and ground myself. That is no small thing.
The almanac best way to start my day. Thank u 🥰
A nice poetic look at how our mature side is always aware of the childlike side of ourselves.
Thanks for today's Writer's Almanac recognizing William Clayton, Rosellen Brown, Farley Mowat, Florence Nightingale & Jim Harrison
Thank you for this edition of "The Writer's Almanac."

A garter snake glided by without noticing me...
Garter snake or anaconda, that's when I would've headed back to the house🐍
Note to Florence Nightingale -- Are we still to suppose that bullets and cannonballs had nothing to do with the high death rates?
A chickadee landed on my bare toe... so light she wasn't believable
I've read " Sea of Slaughter" by Farley Mowat.
