You cannot own real estate on the Moon. BUT you can own mineral rights.
They sell the energy to other countries at y rate, to cover the operating costs of the panels and such. The cost would probably turn out to be less than everyone doing things themselves as we are now.
since it is made of cheese, I think mice should own it.
The aliens who live on the dark side, OBVIOUSLY.
@TheEpisteme One would definitely hope that is how it goes. I want to share this view too but I doubt in human kindness when it comes to something like this. Energy makes a lot of money, there will be a lot of people who would want to get in on this for the money side and when they don't agree I fear wars would start. This is of course a bad case scenario hypothetical but I honestly wouldn't put it past us as humans to have a war over something like this.
I own the moon, my source: Because I said so.
@hemek I don't think it will really be that big of a deal. Not until the distant future anyway. There's plenty of real estate on the moon, that I think nobody will be getting in each other's way or causing any disputes over territory. If Japan were to build a system like that and then the US and China and the EU followed after I think it would just be the more the merrier. Those would be the only countries or unions that would be likely to be able to land anything on the moon for a long time.
We need to just stop wasting the Sun's power and use solar energy.
When are we going to get free wifi highspeed internet? I really wouldn't mind paying a little more on taxes to have that perk.
hopefully American gov't won't stop this plan. As an American I'd LOVE to have better sources of energy, and this plan seems nice. Better than constantly going to wars for oil >_>;
No countries can own the Moon, but all countries have a right to use it.
If the UN leaders could act like adults, I see this issue being deal with easily. Japan sets it up, costs x amount. They
@46619TAB Look at Futurama, they made a giant theme park out of the moon lol XD
@MultiUniv3rsal You know there have been 12 people to walk on the moon, right?
And what he was getting at was that no one man or group of men can lay claim to the Moon, in the same way no one can lay claim to International waters, they belong to everyone.
