- In this video I make Ash William's mechanical right hand as seen in the show Ash vs. the Evil Dead.
I show step by step the methods and problems I had with building a replica hand from costume gloves, parts form the hardware store, and EVA foam.

I was literally freaking out how I was gonna make my Ash costume for Halloween. Thanks Odin!!
Right on! Well, here is the complicated hand, and I linked to my video about making the chainsaw too.
@@OdinMakes thanks a bunch again, keep up the stellar work!
Post the ash costume on your YT would like to see that
This is literally the “Odin is with us!” Meme
Him: spends time and effort making something
Kids in the comments who don't even acknowledge his hard work: make something else
I mean- he does also ask for ideas to be suggested at the end of videos i think, but even if they are doing this without being asked to by Odin, they are giving him plenty of ideas of other wonderful ideas for his powrful craftsmanship!
Surprised no one made Ash’s mechanical gauntlet from Army of Darkness.
Same. That would've been dop- groovy
This is great! I have a bit of an obsession with mechanical hands. It's a really specific yet ubiquitous trope in modern fiction, and I think one of the oldest as well. I believe it became a part of social consciousness mostly thanks to Fritz Lang's Metropolis, though as far as I know the original "man with the mechanical hand" was a real historical figure, "Gotz of The Iron Hand", whose prosthetic was basically the same as Ash's from Army of Darkness. Sort of interesting that Ash eventually got a high-tech hand much like the one from Metropolis that was probably inspired by the original Gotz hand. Anyway, just wanted to share a crash course on the history of what you made here. ;D
That was such a good show! Oh, nice build btw.
It was a great show! And Thank you Jake!
@Dylans Cosplay thanks, I think you're the only one!
@@OdinMakes Totally! I built an obligatory chainsaw but never got around to filming it.
You're awesome jake. So wholesome
@Dylans Cosplay thanks!
I appreciate that you left the flubs and mistakes in the video. This helps us newbies realize that even the best Makers make the occasional error. Most tutorials and make videos seem to edit all that out. Once again thanks for an awesome inspiring video!
This is one of your best creations I've seen so far! I really like all the details. Which reminds me that I have some episodes of that show left that I haven't watched yet so thanks for that too. Just beware of Ash's evil hand looking for that glove!
I need to finish the show too!
@@OdinMakes Boy, you are in for a treat when you do!
I was just watching Ash vs Evil Dead yesterday! This is an amazing build
Thank you! I need to finish watching the show! ha!
me too i started watching it on netflix im still in episode 1
I’d be cool if you made one of Batman’s Batarangs!
I 3D printed the Arkham Asylum version last week
@@OdinMakes It appears so. Thanks for the info
Request: The Doomslayers Arm Blade from Doom: Eternal
Hell yeah
Ooh what if it can retract and stuff
Nice
Odin! Another awesome and incredible build! You’ve got the chainsaw, you’ve got the power glove, now you got to Mack the mechanical gauntlet from Army of Darkness! Hail to the king baby!
I'm really starting to enjoy these longer videos
Great! Thank you! I was worried about going too long
Same
I’m guessing your a patreon? Bc says the video was uploaded 10 minutes ago and this comment is 7 hours ago
You should do a collaboration with Adam Savage
I can't wait to watch. I've been meaning to do this after I did an Ash costume a few years ago, gutting a Homelite chainsaw.
WOW! You did it right! Sweet!
Wish I had been smart enough to do it to one with a plastic housing.
You are one of the most persistent people I have ever appreciated. I respect you very much
I love Evil Dead with a passion. I loved the OG films like Friday the 13th, Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street, but none will stand out in my heart like Evil Dead. With that being said? This was a GROOVY video.
You sir are a really good prop maker, able to figure out from sight alone how an original prop was made and replicate it.
thumbs up just reading the title. 2ND one; Army of darkness:
"THIS....IS MY BOOOM STICK!!"............ok Ill watch video now
not gonna lie, myself and the other knights of sumeria spent a long time on our power gloves, but this was SUPER ENJOYABLE to watch. bravo sir! always a pleasure!
Haven't watched in a while, but I love the new style. Seeing Odin get a bit flustered and confused makes the videos so much more interesting. I love seeing the full process.
My only thing is the top knob on the inside of the wrist lights up when the hand is on. I used a spring water bottle cap and painted it, but if I had known about the light before I started making it, I could have used the cap to put a light behind. I jumped into building my hand IMMEDIATELY after Ash was released in Dead by Daylight and I hadn't seen the movies or the show yet, and I binge watched the show while I was constructing my hand.
Beautiful build, and I'll probably use this for reference when I make hand 2.0
All the Evil Dead, Army of Darkness and Ash versus the Evil Dead is my favorites. I do a lot of collecting on these. U did an amazing job on the two props!!!
This is now my favourite build that you've done, Odin. This could have been used in the production and no one would be able to tell the difference. Absolutely perfect.
This build has a wonderful combination of real greeblies combined with custom foam/plastics to give it an overall very realistic look, wonderful work as always!
Thank you!
I seriously can't get over this build. So damn amazing.
that thing kicks ass.....it looks like its a screen accurate actual prop from the show. really great job picking the materials and assembly. really nice work man
I LOVE this build!!! Awesome job as usual!!!
Yessss!!!! Another Odin masterpiece. Like recently it's been mostly swords and other stuff, and I know it's so you can put out more videos frequently, but I really missed this. Very awesome details, and lengthy video. You're just too awesome.
Loved watching this build. This is one of my favorite props ever, I’ve been kind of obsessed with it since seeing the show. This video makes me wanna build one so bad.
So cool. Some of your best work, Odin. Good timing also as I literally just finished watching through the entire Ash vs. Evil Dead series for the second time about a week ago.
That looks freaking dope, another great build by Odin Makes!
This looks awesome Odin! Thx for share 🙏
This was an ambitious one, Odin. Thanks for showing the process.
Great build and amazing detail! I can tell how much you liked this project!
Groovy! Great build!
Awsome job!!!! Looks incredible!
Groovy build!
if I had ever seen the evil dead, I would call this build astounding.
but as is, all I can say is: amazing
I love these videos! Currently my dad is in a rehab facility due to a spinal stroke and he’s been watching your videos getting excited to do projects when he’s all better! Thanks for helping him during this thought time!
I would buy that in a heartbeat, that’s amazing!
Well done Odin 🤘🏻👏🏻
This is a great build!
Amazing work! Super accurate looking 👌
Beautiful Prop Odin! Looks Great!
Thank you Bennie!
Thanks for sharing
Another brilliant build mate keep it up
Finally! Ive been waiting for this moment!
looks great good job
Thanks for another great build. As much as I appreciate the work and skill that goes into your big multi week builds, I love the smaller builds using lots of bits and pieces and finding creative ways to replicate a prop. Many thanks.
Thank you!
Love these! Build the King! Oderus!
Love it!
the irony! you posted this just as i was working on my power glove! i finished up the wire housing and am currently working on the hand (it actually lights up and has a removable hand like the show), so to see this from one of my favorite cosplayer creators is a treat! definitely gonna make for good entertainment as i work! keep it groovy odin!
Right on! or... GROOVY!
@@OdinMakes groovy indeed! if by any chance youd like some ideas for your channel or are just look to browse; may i recommend to you the knights of sumeria fans of ash williams page on facebook? we are a group of evil dead prop builders and are looking for fellow members to keep the memory of the show alive! im sure theyd MORE than love and appreciate the DIY builds!
Amazing!
Wow love it. Love that show.
Every week gets cooler and cooler! I love this build! Definitely gonna take some notes to make a few Devil Breakers from Devil May Cry 5
This is one hell of a build! Really enjoyed it with all the thought process :) Cheers!
This is by far one of the sickest looking things you have made
Thank you!
Finally found a good video to watch while I eat my spaghetti and garlic bread
Thanks for the save man and as always awesome work
Sweet!
And finally someone who is watching my videos while food is going in!!
@@OdinMakes I have a question are you planning to make anime themed weapons again?
If so could you please make one of Ezra Scarlet’s Sword from fairy tail, she has a lot so choose your favorite
Week after week you produce these amazing builds .. if i haven't said this enough, you are extremely talented!
Awesome 👏
That looks sick! Good job Odin
Thank you!
Who else thinks how ridiculously smart it is of Oden for this big debate to be going on about the wires and then he just goes and looks up the production photos and sees what they're made of..
Great build Oden!
Nice job👍. Very useful for someone wanting a power glove on a budget
Odin, that looks absolutely spectacular. It looks just like his hand from the series. If only I had the parts. My best friend loves Ash Williams and I would totally have made this as a gift for him if I had the time too.
Hey Odin, I have been watching your series for two years and I love a lot of the works and watching this reminds me of when I first used foam to build a wearable Prawn hand from District 9 and how hard it is to take it off.
much luv homie, one of my favs
It would be awesome if you did a tour of all the builds you have on display in your shop. Kind of an overview of the treasures in Odin's Halls as it were. Must be packed to the brim by now because your output is insane.
odin i owe you my life this is so sick!!
Thanks awesome video
This is SO good. I can watch your videos all day. Keep it up. 😀😀👍👍
Thank you!
For future armored glove builds, maybe you could cast your hand in resin.
Yuuuusssss!!! Finally!!!💚
That's one another great build. I need to watch the show too
Thank you!
Odin, wow! At this point I feel you could make any prop! Great job. 👍
Love the vids man, keep up the good work
Odin is badass!!!
Odin this is one spooky and robotically awesome prop. I remember when you built Ash's Evil Dead Chainsaw arm when you were on DIY Prop Shop, that's the video that got me into your builds now your channel is bigger than ever. it's a pity that DIY Prop Shop stopped showing videos you were and still are my favorite prop builder from the show even now you are my favorite prop mentor and the person who's videos i turn to when i need techniques on how to build or make something out of foam the Odin Way. Stay Safe my friend and keep building cool and awesome props made out of foam of course because this is how Odin Makes. Peace :)
Peace Jman! Thank you!
I want this now!
Another job well done my good sir. I also loved Ash vs Evil Dead although I wish it could've gone one more season.
the entire time i thought "look odin made a power glove" Great build, it's always great to get your videos
Very cool! I cosplay Ash and have been meaning to make one of his prosthetic hands for when I don't feel like wearing the chainsaw. Awesome build!
There is a word I would like to say in this video....
Groovy..
So glad you did this! I just ordered my shirt for Ash yesterday night
Im a big fan of ash williams and the evil dead franchise!!
Im so glad you made this one!!
You're ALWAYS the best Odin!!
Your creations are 🔥🔥🔥🔥
You're one of my biggest inspirations!!
Im still you #1 fan here in the Philippines
Take care and stay safe, my idol!!
Thank you so very much Butchick!
THAT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you All Might!!!
I remember specifically looking for if you made this about. a year ago. Thank you so much
Groovy, I like it
Ash vs. Evil Dead and Evil Dead is my favorite movie and TV series.
Ash vs Evil Dead is one of my favourite shows of all time- horror and comedy being balanced perfectly on a razor’s edge is how I’d sum it up. Such a nice surprise to see this pop up in the sub box.
And though its design is kinda similar to other props you’ve done in the past, Pyramid Head’s knife from Silent Hill 2 would be really cool to see tackled by you.
Thank you! I loved the show too. need to watch it again.
One of my favorite characters
Great build. You should do johnny silver hands arm
You should make a hand cast for such gloves
Awesome
This was a prop I never thought you would make!
Sorry to have kept you waiting! I love the Evil Dead movies.
@@OdinMakes holy crap and you responded to my comment! This is the bestest day ever!
This is pretty cool looking awesome job
Thank you dumb ass!
I still like getting to say that :)
@@OdinMakes as long as i comment on time i don't see why you shouldn't say it 😂
Odin you read my mind, I was looking to build one of these
Wow, that's stage ready. Very well done! Not to dig at anything, but I think bringing out your saw is a great demonstration of how much you've improved. It's like night and day.
nice one!
Cool!
Thats pretty damn awesome. I bet that with the blueprints for the chainsaw and hand, it could be possible for someone to make a detachable version of the hand so that the wrist section goes together with the chainsaw.
Why am I enjoying watching this?????
