Thanks for the honest review. These boutique board producers expect every one of their customers to be the avid DIYers. That's just not the case as many of us just want to enjoy the board. Many compare these boards to Bugatti or Ferrari, I bet the buyers initial experiences in those car are much better. Heck, even my Porsche made my ownership feel so special. Well done on the review, more of us need to speak up so we can help the Lacroix's and Kaly's improve.
Couldn’t agree more with your callouts. Fair and balanced. I will say that part of the concerns are stemming from the product being aimed at hobbyists who will gladly invest the hours to learn about every specification about the board. They consider the DIY tasks a labor of love. This doesn’t excuse the manufacturers for not providing clear communication or the innate issues (defects) you called out.
I feel you, brother. You paid a premium price and expect to have a premium product with quality finish and a great customer service. But this is not the case with these "boutique" boards, you have to do some DIYing which shouldn't be for the price you paid.
Well said! I was half expecting to do a lot of DIYing before ordering the board and was still slightly unhappy with the amount of work involved lol. but overall i'm very happy with the board and Lacroix's customer support.
BRO, greattttt review. i just had a similar experience with kaly but even worse. i feel like ever since my negative honest review, a ton of buyers that spent 4000+ are finally speaking up that these botique boards might not be all that worth it. i feel like ppl have been scared to say there negative experiences due to ernesto and alex’s prior good reputation. when u had questions and some complaints of trial and error, i got attacked online. but if it was other brands, the esk8 community gets all kinds of rowdy if something at all goes sideways with the board or customer service… good stuff man. we need more honest ekater reviewers instead of all these YES men youtubers that just say “its amazing” and the others that make fun of brands all day … just a good solid, honest review 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I mentioned on the general Electric Skateboard facebook group how excited i was to receive my first Lacroix and was attacked by a bunch of Kaly riders pointing out to me everything negative about lacroix that have ever existed. I have never experienced such negativity before. I didn't even say anything about Kaly lol

I recently became aware of this board. Used to DIY but that was years ago. I can't believe they went up to 18s, that's insane! Even pro DIYer's would rarely go above 12s when I was on the forums. Really would love to see a year down video of one of these... don't think anyone is willingly gonna void a warranty or possibly destroy such an expensive board... If they are using Samsung 30T or 40T 21700 cells that would be really great too.
I like this review as it is controlling my expectations for the naz SS I will be getting shortly. Personally I am looking forward to getting some more DIY skills to dial in the board. I am just crossing all my fingers that my falcon drive will not fail. Although there I have been told by Lacroix to basically just ignore any sounds they make for the first 500 miles.
Your wowgo AT2 videos convinced me to get one. I've got about 700 miles on mine currently now and love it. Lately I have been wondering what my next step would be in boards and I've looked at other various AT competitors (onsra, atlas, Hercules etc) and kind of came to the conclusion they are all roughly the same quality with slightly different ride performances but nothing ground breaking. This has lead me looking into a much higher stepup in quality and have been looking at the Nazare line the past few weeks and low and behold I came back to your channel to find you have your hands on one! I was thrilled to see as many YT reviewers on these boards are speed demons just trying to push the Lacroix to their max and I really wanted to see how normal cruisers/carvers would feel about the board. I'm sad to hear of the issues you are experiencing but have also seen that feedback in reddit forums too. Besides the technical issues you've addressed, how do you feel about the board besides that? specifically in its lower speed performance (12-20mph) and carving ability compared to the DKP wowgo AT2 setup? Do you think the acceleration curves and abrupt breaking behavior may be more inline with the supersport rather than the standard Nazare? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
hey thanks for your kind comments I appreciate it! aside from the issues I addressed, I love the Lonestar Supersport. it still is my favorite board. I use the softest bushing in the front (60A) and it carves really well and is stable under 25 mph. It's surprising for a board that weights 60 pounds to be so nimble. I made my wowAT2 to be super stiff so I can't actually tell you how much improvement it is vs the LSSS. From my range test on the LSSS, I got about 1% battery per mile at an average speed of 16 mph. Your milage may vary depending on your weight, speed and other factors. I only go slow on my LSSS and mostly for sight seeing and carving. I do think the Lonstar is bit overkill for the distance I ride and the speed that I ride. I can't tell you if the Nazare has the same breaking behavior or not, be that's something I got used to fairly quickly. (and it is adjustable)

I was exactly the same with my Bioboard. You can appreciate the power, the speed and the “premium” elements to it but just small things that you shouldn’t have to encounter crop up and it’s annoying. Even more so because you have paid so much. I am waiting for the Kaly XL-R so we will see if Ernesto provides that premium feel and premium tech
you mean like the geardrives getting loose from the trucks if you ride an AT board on AT roads? believe it or not but I got a plut 4x4 in june and by now (about 2000 miles later) I had to open the geardrives multiple times and was not able to get stuck grub screws (the ones clamping the gearbox to the axles) out. I am currently waiting for additional expensive tools just to be able to unmount them, cause the windings probably ate into the screws from all the hits the thing experienced (and me only noticing late the geardrives were actually loose on the axles (!). don't buy a plutonium if you want to go off-road is all I can say. that being said, it is probably a design flaw and a lack of thought put into the design by the team on this project, which they call a "passion project" lovely. very passionate about having invested so much money in "premium" when the geardrives and motors are so heavy that at some point (inevitably according to my estimate) they will grind into the grub screws of the hangers and you will have problems even removing or replacing them. support is very helpful in telling me how I should do it but from a premium brand I'd expect a replacement and a return label presto. bottom line, three of 4 geardrives wobble on the axles after about 2000 miles of various road and off-road use. I have an evolve GTX which I treated the same way for over 2 years and nothing got loose except the deck-screws. bottom line: don't trust anyone. build it yourself or you will have unpredictable problems. thinking about repurposing the plutonium for a diy build, but I guess the battery is too stiff, I would like flex-deck for my next one. btw also had the wobble with plutonium stock tyres, very annoying, and by now they admit to "should have" used kenda ones, but now that you have problems with kenda tyres as well, all it means is that actual reliable premium quality is probably not possible yet for such a niche-sport(?).
Men , this one of the most honest reviews I've ever seen. I rode this board once and I had the same thoughts. I dont know why but I love a EB that is noiseless thats real a tecnology mate, totally agreed with you. For me I prefer agility instead big Tank, Its just too massive I got disappointed when I saw it . I went out and joined in a group ride then all Lacroix raiders have get off the board all the time naaah is no for me. But seriously honest review. Cheers
Don't get it twisted. These powerful and expensive boards (Kaly, Lacroix, and Bioboard) are amazing. Don't fool yourself into thinking that they aren't over a few small issues. Wait till you see his second review!

Dude I appreciate the unsponsored honest reviews on these boards. It's a huge decision to drop that much cheddar on a board. I'm leaning towards the ecomobl telum board for a good on road/off road option.
Thanks. Telum is a sick board. However their tires are hard rubber not air filled. Which doesn’t make it the most comfortable ride on paved roads. Telum Ba is the better board for off road but you may find it too hard for paved streets

Great review, I've had to make a few adjustments to my Nazare SS and with some upgrades I have close to 5k in this board, that being said, I have zero regrets, I am enjoying every minute on this board.
Shame to hear. I cannot say this about the two Nazare SS boards with Falcon Drive me and my girl received a few day's ago. They are both ludicrous fast and silent AF! No squeaky sounds or any of that and ready to go out of the box😎 A simple instruction would certainly be nice instead of three pages with warnings I will die🙈 but even for a electric skateboard novice like me getting it to ride was doable🤙🏼
@@P4l4d7n Maximum range so far on a single journey was about 38 km in mode 2 and stil had juice left in the board (mode 3 is kamikaze mode for me so I only use it for very steep climbs). Unfortunately I didn't save the data so I don't have the exact numbers but I think the puck remote depletes faster then the board does on long tours. So the range is fine for me and I can still carry the board with some ease🤙🏼
Cracking video mate. My experience with my 2 month old Nazare has been exactly the same. 3 out of 5 of my wheels were not balanced, the squeaking, mode 1 barely moves the board and mode 2 like you is not responsive enough. I've slowly navigated most of these issues now but, like you I simply did not expect that having paid such a premium. My old Wowgo 2S and GTR worked perfectly straight out the box. I still love the board, the power, the ride, range etc and I wouldn't change it now. The niggles just tar the initial enjoyment for me. Some people are a lot less tolerant than we are though, Lacroix need to sort their QA out.

Nor OP here but I have a Lacroix and took about there months. But it's worth the wait. Been on it everyday for a couple hours getting used to it. Have fun.
Okay...this is not what I was expecting to hear (but great review!) Now I'm wondering if I should cancel my Nazare order...These things are WAY too expensive to have unbalanced wheels or ANY other quality control issues out of the box. There are too many smooth, reliable boards currently available for 1/6 of the price. @EV Tech, should I bail?
An EUC person myself, I just love what is coming onto the market in respect to PEV's generally. This one seems to be a bit of a monster, more than capable of mixing it with the EUC's I would have thought :-)
I own a Halo Board Beast and love it, tho it is my very first skateboard period so totally a novice for now, but what I wonder is why do they all seem to use the twist dial for the acceleration and the brake? I kinda feel like that a trigger for the go and a more break like handle for the stop would make more sense!

Great video and review. I bought a $3650.00 Nazare Supersport and on the 2nd ride, left engine started to click & clack. Lacroix won’ fix it, saying it’s an environmental issue. Very disappointed.
Was thinking of getting the barrel but this kinda makes me think the Acedeck X1 will be a better purchase. Lacult fans will be upset you attacked their baby but it's simply not good enough for the prices they charge.
I'M DONE with Lacroix for dozens of reasons but the biggest reason is because the board tried to kill me and the owner of Lacroix's response was "shit happens". Alexandre (owner of Lacriox) refuses to accept any responsibility or acknowledgement when parts fail or go bad on a Lacroix. NEVER. Today I had the rare opportunity to test a Kaly XL-R. It made the SuperSport feel like a joke. Like a child's toy. No comparison at all. Road smooth as butter at high speeds and carved like giant wave. The gear drives are mind blowing. It's light years ahead of Lacroix's engineering and quality. I asked the owner of the Kaly if he has reliability issues with any part of the board? He said "NONE and I've already ridden the board thousands of miles". I told him that I can't even go 30 days without something failing or breaking on my Lacroix. I ordered a Kaly XL-R TODAY! Can't wait to get it!! Bye-bye Lacroix. Never again.

I think anyone who says "I'm not a speed demon" probably shouldn't buy this board. This board is absolutely fu***ing insane! Mode 3 going up hills can actually cause you to time travel. To be fair though, I understand the criticisms. But if you're not willing to stand on a piece of wood going 30-45 MPH somewhat consistently you probably wont enjoy this board.
weird, they seem to be kenda tyres, they are supposed to have much better tolerances than say 200x50 MBS ones. I have lots of wobble on mine as well, and I thought about buying kenda ones which either lacroix or bioboards offer now. so? meh. wobbly AT tyres are a PITA, especially for premium brands.

Lacroix is not a premium product, it’s just premium priced product. Still looks like someone made in garage, not something came out from factory. Not talk about other issues. It’s hugely overpriced, actually you can buy a electric motorcycle in that price (which has significantly more parts)
ESC app not the BMS app. Modes are just factory settings its a VESC designed to be set up to the riders personal taste / wheel wobble happens on all boards with tires these things are not cars no board i know off has wheel weights out the factory / Hoyt them selfs have a vid on the remote / anything made in small numbers is expensive / the curves are made so that you can ride it out the box without injuring or killing yourself & change them in the APP once you have a feel the board / Sorry but your personal feelings on several points are just that personal they are not facts about the board. So u want pull away power here is a novel concept adjust the VESC settings to give u what u want as it designed to do same with the brakes. Your lack of knowledge about basic aspects of the board says you realy wernt ready or should of looked elsewhere. Example VESC based ESC designed to be adjusted to the rider & that factory settings are set on the conservative side as if the factory are gonna ship it with all settings maxed.
I truly don't undestand this take at all. The very first time i got a GLIMPSE of the puck i knew i had to have it. By far the best fitting remote for the hand, and thats the stock shell, which i don't even use. The Batwing case mod destorys all other remotes imo. No other remote has come close, at all.
Damn this guy is critical. Just brutal. I mean I see his point about some shit, but personally, I'm glad they focused on the core of the board as opposed to the less important stuff. New trucks squeak, it's not a problem, just ride it in. Mode 2, I mean shiet, I never ride mode 2 on anything, I don't expect to be riding it on this, whatever the full send version is I'll have to learn to get used to it. Expensive parts? Yeah sure, but at least they are quality. I hope the next review says something positive lol
I think his critiques are valid especially for a board this price. As the price goes up, you expectation that what the budget board does well should also be implemented. As for the expensive parts, it's a non-movable arm that is CNC'ed. Their price does not dictate quality. It is dictated by their customer base, which are people who are willing to pay a lot of money and they're milking it.

It's like the hygiene theory for products. There is a level of expectation for products as price increases. It's just marketing. The VW group makes the same thing for both VW and Audi but Audi charges more because their customers are willing to pay more.
I wanted to chime in and give another opinion for anyone feeling hesitant about buying a Lacroix. I just got the board a couple weeks ago and also own a $1400.00 board which I put about 650 mi on. My first board is really fun. But I was having issues with range and coming off 120 MM wheels. I wanted to be able to roll over the inevitable imperfections in the roads. Also the AT wheels slow acceleration a bit for that boards power output. The Lacroix answers all of those issues. More power than I'm willing to use and I feel much safer at 25-30 than I did at 15 -20 on my first board. I have plenty of range and roll over pretty much everything. No panic braking when I see a nice size Crack in the road which makes my overall ride a better experience. I also don't feel the road as much. Less fatigue. But yes, it does squeak right now, it is huge and heavy, But there is no con that I deal with that out weighs the speed, power, comfort and range I get. I go faster up 15 - 20 percent grades ( around 30mph ) than I can achieve on my other board flat out on flat roads. And the Lacroix still has power to give and I'm still in mode 2. Im just scared to go faster right now. Yeah I some times get off to change direction which I might not do on my other board. But I haven't had to walk the Lacroix home because my battery died like my first board would do. To say that those things would deter me from purchasing the Lacroix knowing what I know now. That for me is nonsense. Anything around $2k would be a step up from my first board. This is a leap, and is going to take awhile to grow into so ill be in mode 2 for awhile and I have no plans on using mode 3 the until I put in a lot more milage. I can go and buy a couple more $2000.00 boards and still not get the same experience as this one. So if your thinking about it but wondering if it's worth it. IMO it absolutely is if you really enjoy riding. If I would caution anything I would say it's not a beginner board. Straight up...you can get hurt. And I agree the brake will throw you off if your not careful. So will the acceleration for that matter. You can tune the motors to change throttle response but I haven't played with that yet. But if you take time to break it in and show some initial restraint it's extremely rewarding. So again I'm talking to anyone seriously considering the Lacroix boards. I'm very impressed with its build quality so I have to give credit to the Lacroix team for what they developed. I would absolutely do it again.

Yeah, because after 500 miles your 60 warranty will probably be gone.

For me I prefer agility instead big Tank, Its just too massive I got disappointed when I saw it . Dude I appreciate the unsponsored honest reviews on these boards. It's a huge decision to drop that much cheddar on a board. I'm leaning towards the ecomobl telum board for a good on road/off road option.
Thanks. Telum is a sick board. However their tires are hard rubber not air filled. Which doesn’t make it the most comfortable ride on paved roads. Telum Ba is the better board for off road but you may find it too hard for paved streets

Great review, I've had to make a few adjustments to my Nazare SS and with some upgrades I have close to 5k in this board, that being said, I have zero regrets, I am enjoying every minute on this board.

Shame to hear. I cannot say this about the two Nazare SS boards with Falcon Drive me and my girl received a few day's ago. They are both ludicrous fast and silent AF! No squeaky sounds or any of that and ready to go out of the box😎 A simple instruction would certainly be nice instead of three pages with warnings I will die🙈 but even for a electric skateboard novice like me getting it to ride was doable🤙🏼

@@P4l4d7n Maximum range so far on a single journey was about 38 km in mode 2 and stil had juice left in the board (mode 3 is kamikaze mode for me so I only use it for very steep climbs). Unfortunately I didn't save the data so I don't have the exact numbers but I think the puck remote depletes faster then the board does on long tours. So the range is fine for me and I can still carry the board with some ease🤙🏼
Cracking video mate. My experience with my 2 month old Nazare has been exactly the same. 3 out of 5 of my wheels were not balanced, the squeaking, mode 1 barely moves the board and mode 2 like you is not responsive enough. I've slowly navigated most of these issues now but, like you I simply did not expect that having paid such a premium. My old Wowgo 2S and GTR worked perfectly straight out the box. I still love the board, the power, the ride, range etc and I wouldn't change it now. The niggles just tar the initial enjoyment for me. Some people are a lot less tolerant than we are though, Lacroix need to sort their QA out.

Okay...this is not what I was expecting to hear (but great review!) Now I'm wondering if I should cancel my Nazare order...These things are WAY too expensive to have unbalanced wheels or ANY other quality control issues out of the box. There are too many smooth, reliable boards currently available for 1/6 of the price. @EV Tech, should I bail?
it depends. someone don't have this issue and some people don't care. but if you have these issues you are expected to DIY and fix it yourself!

An EUC person myself, I just love what is coming onto the market in respect to PEV's generally. This one seems to be a bit of a monster, more than capable of mixing it with the EUC's I would have thought :-)

I own a Halo Board Beast and love it, tho it is my very first skateboard period so totally a novice for now, but what I wonder is why do they all seem to use the twist dial for the acceleration and the brake? I kinda feel like that a trigger for the go and a more break like handle for the stop would make more sense!

Great video and review. I bought a $3650.00 Nazare Supersport and on the 2nd ride, left engine started to click & clack. Lacroix won’ fix it, saying it’s an environmental issue. Very disappointed.

I'M DONE with Lacroix for dozens of reasons but the biggest reason is because the board tried to kill me and the owner of Lacroix's response was "shit happens". Alexandre (owner of Lacriox) refuses to accept any responsibility or acknowledgement when parts fail or go bad on a Lacroix. NEVER. Today I had the rare opportunity to test a Kaly XL-R. It made the SuperSport feel like a joke. Like a child's toy. No comparison at all. Road smooth as butter at high speeds and carved like giant wave. The gear drives are mind blowing. It's light years ahead of Lacroix's engineering and quality. I asked the owner of the Kaly if he has reliability issues with any part of the board? He said "NONE and I've already ridden the board thousands of miles". I told him that I can't even go 30 days without something failing or breaking on my Lacroix. I ordered a Kaly XL-R TODAY! Can't wait to get it!! Bye-bye Lacroix. Never again.

I think anyone who says "I'm not a speed demon" probably shouldn't buy this board. This board is absolutely fu***ing insane! Mode 3 going up hills can actually cause you to time travel. To be fair though, I understand the criticisms. But if you're not willing to stand on a piece of wood going 30-45 MPH somewhat consistently you probably wont enjoy this board.
Speed demon is a pretty subjective thing Tim. It’s really very simple this one….his money, his call how he spends it.
I just did a range test, used about 50% of the battery to go 50 miles. the range is what I bought the LSSS for and it delivered

weird, they seem to be kenda tyres, they are supposed to have much better tolerances than say 200x50 MBS ones. I have lots of wobble on mine as well, and I thought about buying kenda ones which either lacroix or bioboards offer now. so? meh. wobbly AT tyres are a PITA, especially for premium brands.
The bouncy wheels kinda discouraged me to pull the trigger on one of these. Ugh...
I swapped to Evolve 7 inches and they elimited the issue. it's not a big issue. but it's annoying

Lacroix is not a premium product, it’s just premium priced product. Still looks like someone made in garage, not something came out from factory. Not talk about other issues. It’s hugely overpriced, actually you can buy a electric motorcycle in that price (which has significantly more parts)

ESC app not the BMS app. Modes are just factory settings its a VESC designed to be set up to the riders personal taste / wheel wobble happens on all boards with tires these things are not cars no board i know off has wheel weights out the factory / Hoyt them selfs have a vid on the remote / anything made in small numbers is expensive / the curves are made so that you can ride it out the box without injuring or killing yourself & change them in the APP once you have a feel the board / Sorry but your personal feelings on several points are just that personal they are not facts about the board. So u want pull away power here is a novel concept adjust the VESC settings to give u what u want as it designed to do same with the brakes. Your lack of knowledge about basic aspects of the board says you realy wernt ready or should of looked elsewhere. Example VESC based ESC designed to be adjusted to the rider & that factory settings are set on the conservative side as if the factory are gonna ship it with all settings maxed.

I truly don't undestand this take at all. The very first time i got a GLIMPSE of the puck i knew i had to have it. By far the best fitting remote for the hand, and thats the stock shell, which i don't even use. The Batwing case mod destorys all other remotes imo. No other remote has come close, at all.

Damn this guy is critical. Just brutal. I mean I see his point about some shit, but personally, I'm glad they focused on the core of the board as opposed to the less important stuff. New trucks squeak, it's not a problem, just ride it in. Mode 2, I mean shiet, I never ride mode 2 on anything, I don't expect to be riding it on this, whatever the full send version is I'll have to learn to get used to it. Expensive parts? Yeah sure, but at least they are quality. I hope the next review says something positive lol
I think his critiques are valid especially for a board this price. As the price goes up, you expectation that what the budget board does well should also be implemented. As for the expensive parts, it's a non-movable arm that is CNC'ed. Their price does not dictate quality. It is dictated by their customer base, which are people who are willing to pay a lot of money and they're milking it.

@@solomonjenkins9505 I get it. These are premier boards. But if a 1500 boosted board don't have these issues, a 4k board shouldn't introduce these issues either. It's like the hygiene theory for products. There is a level of expectation for products as price increases. It's just marketing. The VW group makes the same thing for both VW and Audi but Audi charges more because their customers are willing to pay more.
I wanted to chime in and give another opinion for anyone feeling hesitant about buying a Lacroix. I just got the board a couple weeks ago and also own a $1400.00 board which I put about 650 mi on. My first board is really fun. But I was having issues with range and coming off 120 MM wheels. I wanted to be able to roll over the inevitable imperfections in the roads. Also the AT wheels slow acceleration a bit for that boards power output.
The Lacroix answers all of those issues. More power than I'm willing to use and I feel much safer at 25-30 than I did at 15 -20 on my first board. I have plenty of range and roll over pretty much everything. No panic braking when I see a nice size Crack in the road which makes my overall ride a better experience. I also don't feel the road as much. Less fatigue.
But yes, it does squeak right now, it is huge and heavy, But there is no con that I deal with that out weighs the speed, power, comfort and range I get. I go faster up 15 - 20 percent grades ( around 30mph ) than I can achieve on my other board flat out on flat roads. And the Lacroix still has power to give and I'm still in mode 2. Im just scared to go faster right now.
Yeah I some times get off to change direction which I might not do on my other board. But I haven't had to walk the Lacroix home because my battery died like my first board would do. To say that those things would deter me from purchasing the Lacroix knowing what I know now. That for me is nonsense. Anything around $2k would be a step up from my first board. This is a leap, and is going to take awhile to grow into so ill be in mode 2 for awhile and I have no plans on using mode 3 the until I put in a lot more milage.
I can go and buy a couple more $2000.00 boards and still not get the same experience as this one.
So if your thinking about it but wondering if it's worth it. IMO it absolutely is if you really enjoy riding.
If I would caution anything I would say it's not a beginner board. Straight up...you can get hurt. And I agree the brake will throw you off if your not careful. So will the acceleration for that matter. You can tune the motors to change throttle response but I haven't played with that yet. But if you take time to break it in and show some initial restraint it's extremely rewarding.
So again I'm talking to anyone seriously considering the Lacroix boards. I'm very impressed with its build quality so I have to give credit to the Lacroix team for what they developed.
