Her exquisite playing is outdone only by her infectious smile and how clear it is that she's loving every minute of it. And I'm not going to qualify her playing by saying she's pretty good for an 11 yr old. She's REALLY good, period.

Absolutely incredible! When I see Ellen playing lines like this from the great James Jamerson, I think about the no name person I had a debate with about whether or not Ellen plays on a pro level. The guy thinks because she is a kid she is not yet there. Well this is just ANOTHER EXAMPLE of her PRO level playing. I told this guy that if Ellen went to compete for the bassist job in HIS BAND, she would SMOKE HIM 7 ways to Sunday!

Before I started following Ellen, bass was something that was "just there, in the background". Now, as I watch her progress and play many different styles and genres, I have come to appreciate bass much more fully. Of course, that smile at the end of every video is great to wake up to (even better than coffee lol).
