    This became one of my favorite books when I read it. The author also has an awesome podcast by the same title. I believe it's one of the oldest traditional witchcraft podcasts out there. It has over 200 episodes I believe.

    • @Myke_thehuman
      @Myke_thehuman Před 2 lety

      Well now I’m going to look it up. Not sir what a traditional podcast is. Because I know several podcasts that have far more then 200 episodes. So I’m onstage in what makes this one different.

      Would you say it provides a robust enough context to kind of help formulate an understanding of the colonization aspects of whichcraft and think critically about where various practices are sourced?

    • @christacorvidae615
      @christacorvidae615 Před 2 lety +3

      @@coloraddiction absolutely. One thing I love about the podcast is they talk honestly about the colonization and appropriation. Many of their guests on the podcast come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and talk about what witchcraft means to them. They address what is closed practice, what is not and how to ethically go about learning more if that is something you are interested in.

    I am eager to get this one after the review. I obvious watch you but also am a listener of Southern Bramble so double dipping on the desire to get this one now. Any book that helps with developing the connection to plant allies, the land and spirits is one I'm gathering. That's been the biggest weakness in my craft that I am looking to solve.

    I’ve been into witchcraft for several years now but never actually getting started. Mainly because I feel like once I start I want to do it 100% right. I wanna have all the right herbs, crystals, candles, and materials. And I realize now that I really don’t need any of that.
    I should start from the beginning again and just learn the basics once again. Restart and redo for the better. Learn what fits best for me etc etc.
    Don’t know why I decided to rant but I also just wanted to mention that you have been an amazing guide all the way since I started, every time I felt like giving up it was always your channel I went to went I felt like starting again.
    You make it feel so much more simple and easy rather than a lot of other content creators that have these specific spell works and tutorials where I would need a bunch of items I’ve never even heard of.
    Thank you!!

    I friggin went to both of my local libraries and ASKED for books on early north american folk practices, and all I found was shit on the witch trials. THANK YOU for pointing this book out! It's nearly impossible to find information online about North America-specific practices. I can't exactly use rowan berries or common broom in my practice without getting it shipped, which just wouldn't feel the same.

    it's so stupid when people say that North America doesn't have its own culture. Yes it originated from pre-existent cultures, it hasn't fully unified jet and there's a lot of appropriation going on, but they have their own, very unique thing going on. And this book kinda proves that. (Haven't actually read it, but it seams that way.)
