    Even if we ignore the difference in size (and what that represents in dollar figure), the cost to get 70hp reliably, upgraded transmission, the adaptive suspension, the added features such as HUD heated and Cooled seats, it would cost more than 10k. But this comparison really shows how far the Civic has evolved. Its basically a small luxury car now.

      Yeah Accord is soon due for a refresh, Honda has given no info yet to dealers but because of covid you never know, it could be a 2023 or 2024 Accord. The 10th generation Civic Type-R came out 2017, the 10th generation Accord soon followed in 2018. Following that pattern plus covid it might not be until the 2024 model year, not 2023. @stephenvivian6178 Před 2 lety +262

    Loved the review. I did this same comparison this past week and ended up buying the Accord. The ride feels more premium due to the bigger engine, 10 speed transmission, and compliance over bumps and rough patches probably because of the adaptive dampers and wheel base. The rear seat passengers get heated seats and climate vents while the Civic gives neither in the US. The Civic is a great not so little car though and is the better bang for your buck, especially the hatchback but the price difference is around $8k in the US when comparing both top trims and the hatch.

    Interesting comparo. I did my own back in 2008 and decided on getting a used 2004 accord in the highest trim. However I really like the latest gen civic. In terms of refinement, quality and features, the gap between the two seems smaller. I like you using the parking lot to demo the turning radius.

  • @phil8761
    @phil8761 Před 2 lety +37

    For me it's still the Accord 2.0 hands down. It's factor based for anyone looking at these two. What can be afforded at the moment, how long does one plan to keep the car, and ones age. The first is self explanatory. You should only buy what you can actually afford. The second is a bit different. If I just need something to get me around for the next few years, I'm not going to drop a lot of money on it. If I plan to keep it a good while, I want the best I can get. Last, age is about transitional years. What I want in my teens and 20s will usually be different from my 30s and 40s. I could see more younger people going for the Civic, and middle aged to older people going for the Accord.

      Well I'm in my 30s and my interests haven't changed much from my 20s but me personally I'll probably get the civic because it's still more affordable and it has improved a lot.. it's almost like a mini accord now so I'll buy it.. only thing I wished is that they had kept the coupe model that would of been my top choice honestly.

    Depends on the year and trim level, but I was able to negotiate a 2020 Accord Sport for $2400 more than the 2020 Civic Hatch Sport (new and in 2020). At that price, seemed a no brainer and that I’d likely regret not getting the larger car and extra features. Also, this is a last year versus first year comparison. The difference will likely NOT be 10k. Civic will go closer to sticker as a new redesign where the Accords will likely need incentives to move since a new Accord is coming in 2023. So it will not be a 10k difference in final price.

    Thank you for this comparison. My 2010 Accord LXP finally got into the dealer for the Takata airbag & I got a 2021 Accord Sport loaner... I thought for sure the 2010 would be my last Honda but the 2021 Accord has me reconsidering. Then I looked at the price tag for Accord Sport vs Civic Si & there was only around $5k difference (along with the $5k & $4k "Market adjustment").
    Your comparisons (having owned 2 Civics & 2 Accords since 1994) both helped & didn't ^_^
    Looks like it'll come down to test drives + monthly payments.
