I saw a lot of comments in her youtube videos telling people to not listen to the recitation of Quran while studying or sleeping and I am compelled to write something about this.
I remember asking my Ustazah on this matter a few years back, and she said that It is best to listen to the recitation of the Quran attentively while you are focused.
So I asked, "But, I can only concentrate in studying when listening to something like music, and i'm trying to leave music and making myself used to the recitation of Quran. so is this okay?"
And she said, yes it is permissible although it is not ideal. it is fine to listen to the recitation of Quran for as long as the environment and situation are not too loud and busy like in the markets and others. Also we need to avoid unnecessary actions in between (like talking or laughing) to show our respect towards the words of Allah.
I also found many fatwas (from different countries) that are allowing this and even Imam An Nawawi said it is permissible though it is not ideal.
Imam al-Nawawi also said : matters of honouring and respecting the Quran should be emphasized in every aspect. In this matter, there are some people who are negligent and depreciate the manners of when a person recites the Quran. Thus, one should avoid laughing, whispering, or talking when the Quran is recited unless in unavoidable circumstances. (See al-Tibyan fi Adab Hamilah al-Quran pg. 92)

Quran for sleep!!! It was Not sent down for sleep o man, wake up!. When the Companions heard the Qur'an, they trembled with fear. + Allah says in quran if we have sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples we present to the people that perhaps they will thought.
