  • E Class has always been a favorite of many Mercedes buyers. How did this E350 hold up after 8 years? *mistake: the car makes 302hp not 372hp.

      @Albert, a low mileage car ‘might’ have fewer issues but you also pay extra for it. These engines and transmissions will last beyond 200k miles with proper maintenance. It’s the electronics that might start to fail. Again if it is well maintained, a car with 100k miles still have a lot of life left.

    I own a 2014 e350. Bought it as a certified pre-owned, with only 14k miles in 2016. It has 78,000 miles now. In the past 4 months, I’ve had to replace the driver seat heating element, the motor for the tilt/telescope steering wheel, the auxiliary battery for the stop-start system, and the sensor for the trunk release. All of that, along with the spark plugs and oil change, set me back $4800. The dealer is recommending replacing the engine and transmission mounts, and correcting an engine leak, for another few grand.

      I actually really like the car, despite the issues I’ve had. It is disappointing that the Mercedes has not been nearly as trouble free as other cars I’ve owned. I tend to buy cars new, keep them for a long time, then turn them over to one of my (adult) kids. My younger son and his wife are driving my 2005 Pilot and 2006 TL respectively. Both have north of 250k miles on the odometer. My younger daughter has my 2010 MDX, with about 210k miles. All 3 of those vehicles have been bullet-proof. Even my 2003 Z4 has been very trouble free compared to the e350. Cheers!

      I’m surprised the Z4 is still going trouble free. The Honda products are known for reliability but I always here people complaining about BMW reliability and leaks.

    Interesting review. After seeing this car and all the grime, the cheap plastic making popping noises and the bubbling on the sterring wheel I was shocked. So I went into the garage and guys, I have to tell you if I shared a photo of my 2014 you would be shocked. The cheap plastic must be a basic low range option the original owner opted for to keep the price very low. Same with the seats. Even the steering wheel doesn't match. None of my most used buttons are faded. All the interior trim is real wood including the steering wheel and console. And it does have real genuine leather seats. 2014 E350 Cabriolet.

    If I could have bought a Toyota Camry that rode and drove like this car, I would. I didn't care for all the amenities most cars don't, well maybe they do, have, Lane Assist, etc... I only bought because my last Mercedes outlasted anything else I ever owned, wanted another like that. Sadly, this ain't it, but it's far better than any Ford or GM. It rides and drives like a Mercedes should, better than most others. My biggest complaint isn't the lesser quality put in oppsed to days of old. Poor Service from Dealers who seem to only want to work on brand new ones. Like a modern Harley Dealers, who forgot who the people are that don't just trade it in when the tires wear out, or couldn't care less about the car itself but the status, the people who care about keeping these cars on the road as long as possible, who spend time righting imperfections made by the manufacture, who pour over the history of the company, the milestones of it's long lineage, and the people behind it's advancements, the racing heatage. Sure, other makers like BMW have this too, but I can only afford one at a time. You'd think Mercedes and it's dealers would be happy people like me chose them first...

    You can tell the material is not the same since Mercedes was the "King" of luxury cars? Mercedes have been using the synthetic MB Tex leather since the 60's...

      @Alex Bradley, to me, the material they used in the 90s used to hold up a lot better than what they use today. Maybe Benz that cost over $100k use high quality materials but the E class and C class materials seem to age a lot faster today.

      You can add cow leather for $1200 when go buy and Eclass
      When I bought mine they had diamond stitched custom leather seats and double size sunroof available just cost a lot more money.

    Debating between a 2015 E350 (95k miles) & a 2017 Maserati Ghibli (50k miles)

    • @JioniDrive
      @JioniDrive  Před rokem +4

      @kevinB-gj1gk, it’s a hard choice! But in terms of reliability and affordability of services/repair, I would go with the E350. If it’s car you’re not going to keep long-term, then you might as well enjoy the Maserati for a while.

    E does not mean 'Electronic ' fuel injection. E stands for fuel injection in German.

      @Silver Surfer, $14k would be a really nice deal. If it’s well maintained, then it’s worth it. Good luck with the purchase. Thanks for watching.
