  • A pair of general bonsai scissors is possibly the very first tool you will purchase as it has a wide range of uses in bonsai cultivation. In this video I refer to several different scissors which we sell however the points made are relevant to any general purpose scissors and will hopefully help you to make the right selection.

I've been forging bonsai scissors and all I can say is that even a badly made pair will outperform the stainless plastic handle stuff.
I don't want to tell people what to spend their money on but you will certainly never even consider regretting buying a pair of true, Japanese handmade bonsai scissors. They are rugged, sharp, with incredible edge retention.

I agree with you 100%, a good pair of scissors is really a good investment. However what you might consider also is that some people are not convinced bonsai "is their thing" so they may want something inexpensive to get started. I find they will usually progress to something of better quality and greater comfort. Thanks for sharing your views!

Really helpful video but it was spoilt for me by the loud background music which was quite distracting when trying to concentrate on what you were saying.

Hi John, I wouldn't have a clue where you could find those on the shelf. You will need to have them made or if the tools are from a reputable brand you may be able to send them back to the factory for repair. I have never tried to do this.
