  • It was time to leave the mainland of Cambodia and head over to the island of Koh Rong Saloem. A tropical place with the chilled vibes that was evident as soon as I got off the boat.
    Although there was a mix up with hostels, I was given Chill Inn Hostel, right on the beach! It was amazing and CHEAP! I too a couple of hours to explore the village and the surrounding areas and fell in love with the place.
    Definitely the place to be after being in any mainland city for too long.
    I am an older backpacker travelling the world proving that backpacking is not just for the younger generation.

    The few places that are worth seeing and staying for me were the two Koh Rong islands, Kampot, Battambang and Siem Reap. Had a fun time in Phnom Penh as well! I travel with one small backpack, it liberates you I found! There’s nice quiet spots on the larger Koh Rong island too 😊

    Beautiful,island,I travelled around Cambodia many years ago,didnt even know these islands existed,and well done for staying in a $5 dorm,at my age now my minimum requirement would be a private room or beach hut.

      Nice video. Been Koh Rong but not there so good to see finally. Enjoy Koh Rong & reccomend visiting. Kampot. a nice big town, nice relaxed vibe, river side & plenty to do and see.

      This island is amazing and I’m looking forward to Koh Rong :) Hostels are a good way of meeting other people, and SO much cheaper lol

      I try and show local food but I’ve been eating a lot of noodles from the shop (add hot water) to save money! But I’ll get some Cambodian food soon

    If you can rent a snorkel/mask I found the best bits in the tropics are under/around the jetties that go out to sea, the fish like the shade!

      I would have loved to taken you for food but it’s all western! I had one meal and got food poisoning… and spent the rest of the time drinking water! I’ve not seen much Cambodian food tbh, and I have been warned that Cambodian street food is definitely something I have to watch :/

    How much a unit of hostel cost per night sir?

    • @olderbackpacker
      @olderbackpacker  Před 4 měsíci

      The hostel I stayed in was US$ 5 a night but there are different prices on the various booking apps for the type of place you would want to stay. I stay in very cheap hostels :)
