A Critical Movement in the Golf Swing (Drills Included)

  • All side bend is, is another rotation and as I'm sure most of us are aware, we wouldn't get very far in our golf swing without rotation! Try these drills out for yourself and see if the movements you're making are recognisable and if they're in any way relatable to your golf swing.
    If they're not, then it's likely that you're missing these movements in your swing.

    Brilliant session Marcus. Explains in simple terms that we can all understand and what drills we need to use to develop our skillset. Hopefully, there's more like this to come so that I can get even more out of my GRFi kit 😀

    Perfect timing of this video. What you’re talking about and showing is exactly what I started working on last week. I noticed that I wasn’t side bending/tilting enough through my backswing and follow through. I now make this move feeling like my shoulders are trying to hit the ground in the backswing and follow through. It makes quite a difference in strike. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

    This is really helpful to understand the body mechanics needed for an effective golf swing, great explanation and illustration, thank you !

    ..thank you very much, very very clearly explained, you are very generous with your knowledge, both are impressive, your generosity and the higher level perspective on the movements.
    I always think for a complex system you need descriptions that are broad and simple, the super-fine detail is unhelpful when the motion is so complex, Marcus gives the broader picture which by definition is simpler to describe, well done Marcus, that’s your biggest achievement in my opinion, your approach to teaching 👏👏👏

    Looking forward to trying this! Don't feel like I get any in my swing. Very horizontal finish as Marcus eluded too. I blame on being a left hander playing right handed 😅

Can see the benefits of your philosophy to the game because along with the Mach3 methods it's improved my game so much. Sincerely appreciate your reply.

    If I had to think about all that in the swing I would freeze over the ball

    • @GRFGolf

      You don't, that's what the exercise is for so you can experience what side bend offers. The explanation isn't just for understanding the reason for doing it. Exercises require no technical thought, just exploration. No progress without trying something new 👍

  • @luckymanla
    @luckymanla Před 3 měsíci +1

    respectfully it’s not ’side bend’ - it’s ‘forward bend’ with rotation. if you side bend and rotate you’ll (a) hit ground before ball; and (b) get lumbar pains a/o SI Joint issues

    • @GRFGolf
      @GRFGolf  Před 3 měsíci

      This is mid/upper thoracic lateral flexion. When you're in lumbar lordosis and laterally flex you get transverse rotation naturally. Trail hip hike and ipsilateral lateral flexion is generally problematic. Trying to remain in forward trunk flexion and trying to rotate often creates excessive sway and potentially injurious compensatory patterns that can be a big contributor to what you're talking about. Only my opinion and happy for you to disagree. All healthy discussion with the betterment of everyone's game intended 👍

    • @GRFGolf
      @GRFGolf  Před rokem

      It's only an exercise to explore movement. The explanation is just for understanding the reason for trying it. Don't read too much into movement, just explore it 👍

      @@stephenwilkinson3549 No problem, didn't think you were being rude, I was just explaining the indepth explanation. Some people learn by having to know all the details and some people don't want much. I try to satisfy both so the info can be filtered and discarded if you feel it's not appropriate for you. It's no problem, there's no judgement, it's just information for everyone 👍
