This must just be for folks that don’t use a mattress pad....odd. Best bet is to get food-grade DE and carefully press in to all those holes in your mattress, keeps the bedbugs (that feed off dead skin cells) away + let your mattress be exposed to sunlight and air while your washing/changing linens...or just get a mattress pad cover you can easily wash!

Thanks for mentioning how often you should clean your mattress. I swear some people never do. Even if they only vacuumed it, it would be okay but this is way better.
My brother came for a week long visit to my home. He definitely has a distinct scent. He’s not dirty he just has a scent. I’ve never known anyone to have such a strong natural scent. After only a day the room he slept in smelled like him. It’s not horrible or anything but not how I want my house to smell. This scent is something I remember from our childhood. Lol. Unfortunately, then I couldn’t get the smell out of the room. I had a mattress topper and a super thick mattress pad on the mattress. I washed the mattress pad twice and used vinegar in the washing machine the second time because it still smelled. This helped but I put the topper outside in the sun hoping that would work. It did but I can still smell a slight scent every now and then - and it’s been two months since he left. So I am going to use this technique on the mattress topper. I hope this solves the issue.

I will try to do this in the spring/fall and let in sit in my bedroom in direct sunlight and have to flip it so all sides dry fully along w the entire mattress and they will clean the foam toppers too if you ask once they arrive at your home. Pretty much anything fabric wise they can clean along w all different types of flooring. I have them do my carpeting along w tile flooring at a seperate time along w/ my sectional w chaise lounge. It's worth every penny not to have to do all of that work manually and never get anything as clean as they do. I have a big bathroom and I have saw tips on how to clean grout ( if not mistaken on here) but, not as large as my bathroom. I have used the trick w resolve carpet cleaner foam spray on grout let it sit around toilet area for a few hours or more and take a toothbrush (for dentures) can purchase them at a dollar store. Scrub with a wet denture toothbrush and wipe the grout with a white washcloth from dollar store. You would never imagine how much nastiness can add up around a toilet and surrounding area esp. if you have men/ boys in your home. It doesn't make your mattress smell like vinegar? The baking soda helps get rid of that?

Wouldn’t 91 isopropyl alcohol, dry faster? I use mattress pads also, to protect my mattresses. It was a bad day when Shopko closed, as they had the nicest and best priced, ones.

I steam my bed and it does a really good job at deep cleaning your mattress

How does the steam deep *clean?* Seems like whatever is deep inside would stay deep inside.

Call me crazy but because I let my pets sleep with me (🙄) I find using 2 mattress pads necessary. I wash them both every
2-3 months and then spray my mattress with Lysol while they’re washing and drying.. It seems to work and I get a little extra comfort from sleeping on not one but 2 cushioned pads.

I remember every spring, we would take all the mattresses outside to air them out while we did our spring cleaning. Now that I'm grown, I use a mattress pad. Ummmhmmm. ;D

Most People Hopefully Use a Mattress-Protector. Some Use one that is Water-Proof. If there are Any Dead Skin Cell's, they would Fall Onto the Mattress Protector from the Sheet's. Can then DO a Thorough Vacuuming.

I use to do this.. I bought a new mattress so as I was removing old one should of seen all that baking powder that was coming out it was gross. I use to even vacuum it after it was all dried but obvious that didn't work. Just buy a cover and wash it

Didnt have vinegar so I used hydrogen peroxide instead. That's ok as well right? Then I continued with step 2.

What if I #1 have a mattress protector that's zipped up and # 2 I have 2 toppers on top of my mattress and then on top of that I have a mattress pad and then my sheets. I wouldn't need to do this if I have all of that on top of my mattress in the 1st place, right??
