  • @tydek07
    @tydek07 Před 14 lety

    To the people who are saying the ambulance is too slow... There is no need to go flying down the road, just increases the risk of getting into an accident yourself. We (where I work) have a policy that states we can only go 10mph over the posted speed limit. Just remember, you're no help if you end up needing help.
    Now, if this is only a medic unit, there is no need for the it being so big. Just remember that some services have fire/ems units and they are also carrying rescue gear on the truck

    It never ceases to amaze me on how many desktop Wannabe Ambulance/Fire Truck chasers "ASSUME" that they know what the driver or others need to do. It's not your dept, it's not your job and its certainly rubbish on the comments made to belittle the Dept for what hard work that they really do. I for one appreciate every dept in the emergency services for their dedication to safe living. Sad that so many "Pretentious" Fire Fighters or Captains make such silly comments. Become a real Emergency Worker and then contribute a positive response. Oh and btw, rescue911 I love your videos. Thank you for your time to make them and share them with us :)

    As an EMT myself with EVOC and having grown up on the very street Medic 25 passes at 2:00 , I can tell you with confidence that speed is the last thing this rig needs to be doing on Piscataway Road. It's notorious for speeders and drivers who just cannot do the very thing they're supposed to be doing. As an EVOC driver, I also appreciate the need to get to a call ALIVE. While in Europe, speedy responses may be the norm...we just don't have the roads to do it in the US. Sorry counterparts. :/

    Getting there in 5 minutes as opposed to 4 minutes MAY in some cases make a difference in your patient making it or not. Having an accident and killing or injuring yourself or someone else means you wont get there at all. And you just took a unit out of service AND created another incident. Unless you are on the open highway you should not be driving more than 10 mph over the speed limit. And that is the law in many states.

    • @robertgift
      @robertgift Před 8 lety

      +George Rinaldi Ridiculous law. When no traffic we go as fast as possible, but expecting traffic and prepared to slow as necessary for safety.Should be watching for traffic and hazards and NOT LOOKING AT THE SPEEDOMETER.

    Great videos of the ride alongs. Makes me glad to live in a city, seconds save and these 10-20 minute videos to get to a scene are sad. Love Rekednodo0661's comment, so many moron drivers who just STOP. When I lived in London people used to double park on so many streets, trucks would plow them out of the way if they needed to.

    If you read the description:
    Fort Washington firefighters were already on scene with an engine and ambulance
    If they were urgently needed then yes the response would be faster but as there were already personnel on scene to determine the patient's condition they would know how fast the response would need to be.

  • @akimbo5u
    @akimbo5u Před 11 lety

    in alot of companies driving lights and sirens to the scene is a must even if its a BS call.. if it is a BS call then you wont risk your life for 5 minuts of a person who called 911 because he has a toothache

  • @EricCris10sen
    @EricCris10sen Před 12 lety

    You can't drive 100 mph to the scene. It puts everyone on the road at risk because not everyone is going to use their brain and stop. Not only that but you can't have the person in the back flailing around along with all the medical equipment. You're no use to the person if you can't get there in one piece.

It pisses me off so bad when people are too stupid to pull over for emergency vehicles when there's plenty of space!

Hate to think of a Pt. having an MI, or worse yet, an arrest, and having ALS so far away. Still, that's rural life for you, you get the ups and the downs when you're far removed from civilization.

  • @Marty32

  • @Murdnox

    @keldfc you hear both from Europe and the US about Fire/EMS vehicles being involved in accidents while responding.
    It's hard to compare european code 3 driving style with the american one, cause traffic reacts completly different: In the US they often stop at intersection, Q and airhorn running hot and cross traffic still doesn't stop, and in Europe we often can rush over red lights and intersections only by using hi-lo sirens

    If I'm driving with lights and sirens I ensure I've got a reason to even have them on. Meaning there is traffic that needs cleared, and I'm actually going faster than traffic. I've passed ambulances in my POV before while they were screwing around trying to find a house by driving lights and sirens. When you get close to the area, traffic can flow freely around you. No need to continue demanding the right of way.

    @Dufik1992 Yup brother, the model of the ambulance possibly "old" and heavy probably around 2-3 tons or more since the model is a type 1 heavy ambulance.. Not a typical type 1 midsize ambulance with a v8 engine. Also check the description, it said that it had respond OUTSIDE of its area of responsibility meaning the time to respond within the original area has increased by 2x plus traffic and passing by an intersection makes the respond time longer. Peace brother :)

    There was another ambulance on scene because they took to long, they drove like grandmas. That's why the other unit was there first because this unit was taking too long. The fire fighters must have been radioing dispatch every 3 minutes asking for an ambulance because they were taking to long. Your supposed to EXPEDITE not CRUISE. The other ambulance probably go there first because they were following the rules and they EXPEDITED.
