    My fave bushcraft and wild camping gear - The Kelly Kettle (Scout) - Please note, I made the error of calling it the Kelly Kettle "Base Camp" version but it's the Kelly Kettle "Scout" version which holds 1.2 Litres of water. Please add your comments or questions, Click the like button to help my channel grow. Thank you wolf pack 💙

    Excellent video to demonstrate how a Kelly Kettle works. Stuff a bag of hickory wood chips up the Kelly Chimney for storage for days when its raining and everything is soaking wet. A small titanium wood gasifier stove (Lixada "Tower" Stove Titanium Version and yes it is a wood gas stove)
    in the base of kelly kettle for wood gasification of the hickory wood chips.

      Thanks for your suggestion - hickory is one of the longest burning woods so good choice. I do keep a selection of fat wood in my fire starting kit for when it gets more challenging to find dry wood. To limit smoke (stealth wild camp) I took a log or two from the fire wood pile at home and cut it up on camp as you saw in the video - it is a new location and didn’t feel confident I’d find anything clean enough there. The black zip bag thing that I have the stopper, cooking oil, spork etc in is what goes inside the chimney when it’s packed up. I’ll keep an eye out for some hickory wood chips! Thanks for your comment, much appreciated 💙🐺

    Nice video very good to point out the underground fire risk so many people overlook this and cause some serious fires that can last a long time and in most cases difficult to extinguish or see. Those kettles are really decent and a very good investment for a Prepper 👍 but two bags and 4 sugars never mind the zombies the diabetes is the biggest threat🤣

    • @SigmaPrepper
      @SigmaPrepper  Před 11 měsíci

      🤣 lol hey you, great comment (as always) - no diabetes just yet although there’s always still time 😜. One of the things I love about the Kelly kettle is that you already have the fire contained in the fire base which gives it some protection to begin with. My friend always has to rig up a full size fire to get his pan on. I’m always the one to be “doing the teas for all the boys” when I’m with my Kelly kettle on bushcraft camp - I trust you’re well 💙🐺

      @@SigmaPrepper all good muddling by as the world goes mental 🤣 I’m just about to start new project on homestead those kettles are great they hide the light from the fire well so good for keeping a low profile the chain obviously was a bit of a daft thing to use for the lid smart move changing for a quieter material. Hope these bushcraft videos reach people before the whole lot kicks off i didn’t think things were going to escalate this quickly in the world but the mission is clear as day people need to get equipped it’s spilling over be ready for sustained lifestyle changes SHTF is practically here.

      Defo get one if you can handle the sheets. I looked at the price today for the Kelly kettle scout ‘ultimate kit’ and seems a little less expensive than when I bought mine a few years ago. The Kelly kettle scout fits sideways and upright in my main bugout bag and yet big enough to take care of 3 people comfortably xx I hope you got somewhere with your AC issue! 💙🐺

    I light mine similar to you but it’s evolved into a non-tend stove by making a slightly larger wigwam of kindling sticks held together with jute twine so it keeps its shape,then put the stove top on and pre-load it with several sticks higher than the top.
    Now when you light it you can just walk away - no need to tend it.👍

    Great video, I have the trekker now, it's a good size for a solo hike, I have the scout ordered for when my son comes with me. The Trekker was adequate for the two of us, boiled water for rice, boiled a second for hot drinks and I was able to cook teriyaki beef and broccoli to put over the rice. I'm thinking the trekker base and hobo attachment should fit into the scout which would be great since I love cooking and having the second base would allow me to do more at once.

    • @SigmaPrepper
      @SigmaPrepper  Před 2 měsíci

      Hmm I’d always wondered how usable the trekker would have been - love the idea of having the extra base etc. tbh the trekker would probably fit in my 511 rush 72 bag better but if I am carrying a big loadout I’ll often carry the Kelly kettle bag in my hand with pack on back. Thanks for sharing your experience with the trekker, I hope you love the Scout even more 😉🐺💙

    Is that the Gerber Ultimate knife? On Amazon, one of the reviews says the instructions say don’t use it for splitting wood. Have you had any problems doing that? I fancy getting one for Mr Worm for Christmas for making kindling.

    • @SigmaPrepper
      @SigmaPrepper  Před 10 měsíci

      Hey you, it’s actually pretty difficult to find - it’s called the Gerber ‘swagger’ folding knife. I’ve used it like a ‘mule’ and it acts like brand new every time. I don’t use anything more than a blade medic to sharpen after use and does everything I need. No rattle in the hinge, no bits coming away or broken or worn. Prob been on 20 days of solid bushcraft with it and super happy. I’d probably get another one the same as a backup. Thanks for your interest my lovely, I hope you’re having a good October! 💙🐺

      Defo highly recommended - my one has been on more than 30 camps and still good as new. I think the Kelly kettle scout size is perfect boiling 1.2l of water. I hope you’re well 💙🐺

      @@SigmaPrepper Think using a spirit burner would work in the base ?
