I honestly don’t think Canelo would have shown _that_ much respect to Caleb if Caleb hadn’t earned it.. Plant came to genuinely win this fight and slay the beast… and he fought incredibly valiantly… But real life often doesn’t offer the story book ending…
Another reason why Canelo is so likeable, he’s 100% business in the ring between bells but when all is settled he has genuine respect and often concern for his opponents. He’s got that light switch between cold, calculating predator and caring, civilized member of society whereas a lot of other prize fighters just live in that hunt or be hunted world.
That will be the drugs they play havoc with emotions.

Caleb is a badass, he made it to the 11th round and didn't leave on a stretcher.
And than he went to sleep!!😵😵😵
He made it as far as Canelo wanted him to, it was a perfect game plan, they didn’t even switch him on until round 6, he spent 10 rounds pounding his body and arms to slow him down and open up that left hook, he tested if Caleb was tired enough to land it in rounds 8 and 9 and then just went back to pounding the body. It was a methodical breakdown and he knew the KO would come, yes Caleb was there but he didn’t realise that as the rounds went on he was walking right into that left
hand eventually, Canelo is a genius.

Canelo predicted he would stopped plant in the 8th round as he did against saunders but not successful. Caleb fought a good fight but canelo was in another class.

Caleb Plant deserves all of the respect. He really made this fight a great one. He was more of a challenge for Canelo than Saunders. I would LOVE to see a rematch
