  • It is our 1st Tour to Tea processing unit, we discussed about How to CTC tea Processed. Today we talk about Tea Processing Step by Step .
    CTC means Crush,Tear and Curl, sometimes Cut, Tear and Curl.
    Tea manufacturing starts with plucking of green tea leaf, now green leaf harvest with tea harvesting machine. After plucking green leaf sent to CTC processing Unit Or Factory. Green leaf weathering for 12 to 16 hours in factory shade. Weathering tea leaf sent a machine is called Roto ravane. CTC machine cut the leaf verry smaller shape in four times then curling process start, Ghoogie machine curling cutting tea leaf verious grade. Next process is CFM ( Continues Farmanting Machine) 3 hours humidified cold air is circulated through the curly leaf (temparature maintain 26 to 30 degree C).after this process the leaf colour change green to greenish brown.the leaf sent to drayer section, leaf is dry for 30 minutes by hot air , after this process CTC tea almost ready . before sorting Manufactured tea run into fiber clining machine is called Fiber Extractor.After clining ready tea is sent for gradation machine.
    CTC tea grades are by size from largest to smallest :
    BPS - Broken Pokoe Souchong
    BP - Broken Pokoe
    OF - Orange Fannings
    PD - Pokoe Dust
    DUST-Dust
