      @@YungEagle3k No, they're not. Top load washing machines are USA specific and most commonly made in USA by brands like Whirlpool and GE.

      It's great to see this. I've learned a lot from my stepdad and learned to repair rather than replace. Vacuum cleaners were money maker's for me. They get dirty and clog- the belt breaks and the brush has all kinds of hair etc wrapped around it. I found them in alleys everywhere. So $5 and 20min- and I sell it for 20-40$ depending. This was in the 90s. If you can read- just about anything in your home is repairable!! Repairing carburetors is like doing puzzles!. Thanks for a new one!. Buy American!🐘🇺🇸🐘

    I had that washer, replaced that part, did the calibration,.. moved and bought a set from the 90's that's easy to service.

      And way more reliable, parts are dirt cheap and plentiful, I had this washer and the main board went out and it was 300$ older ones are way better

    You should do a video on how to clean a top load washer . I just moved into a rental and the washer has some gunk in it. Love your videos very informative and easy to understand

      Use cleaning agents and scrub and if the tub needs to be cleaned use afresh pod or something

    Had no agitation on my '90s washer. Popped the softener cup out, grabbed a socket extension to reach down the column, and tightened the bolt. Works perfectly again.

    We also normally change out the capacitor with it, it's a cheap enough part and those two tend to like to break in tandem.

    My first machine both washer and drier were trashed picked- a neighbor just like you had me pick ‘em up when he saw them and had me put them in my laundry room - a day later and $9 in parts I was rockin’! Thank-you Ed Hubley!

    This vid hit me at a good time. My clothes (mostly towels) have been smelling mildewy even after washing. I planned on going thru my washing machine this weekend to see if it's broke. It's a Samsung, similar to the one in this video.
    I'll have to look thru your vids for info about the drain system and see if that's something that needs cleaned out real well. Maybe the machine has mold in it somewhere that I don't know about. I dunno.

      I have a brand new washer n it sends clothes to one side n shakes...oh n it starts to fill w water, stops n the washes w almost no water. Elderly n need ur advice.

    Don't forget to check the splutch too. I've seen lots of that style shift actuator get broken from a worn out splutch.

    These are the number 1 thing that go bad on these kinds of washers. I've also had the capacitors blow out.. fun times.

    I wash my clothes in 5-gallon buckets with a plunger for agitation.
    Rinse with clean water and hang dry or dry in my solar powered trash can clothes dryer.
    Saves money and it's good exercise.

    My washer was made in the early 70s, picked it up off the side of the road. Thing is still running like new.

    I had “this” washer. Hated it. Worked on it until the transmission finally gave out. Decided to stop fixing it and found a used machine to get us through until we moved.
    I remember when this brand was the best you could buy.

    Another thing that would be a good idea for a vid would be if you have a 2 part agitator and only 1 part will turn, changing the plastic cams inside it. They're like 5 bucks on Amazon and have been in there for about 5 years now.

    The hub under the agitator can wear out too. If you hear a loud noise while the washer is spinning or your clothes come out wet, the teeth can be worn off of the plastic gear

    Fun Fact that washer needs a new belt and pulley. You can't see it but I can feel it. The area that the belt makes contact with on that pulley has a smaller diameter that the spots that don't make contact. Witch make belt slipping possible when under load.

    I found my problem for this same issue was a little girl’s sock stuck in the water pump. Way better than paying for broken parts. Make sure you know your problem before throwing money away. Never contact a repair person unless you already know what’s wrong.

    I love that you show ppl how to work on their things but I worry that ppl won’t know how to properly de-energize their equipment and could electrocute themselves believing that unplugging is all that I required. Because I don’t know washers and dryers maybe that’s all required but I know some things hold energy in capacitors

    Fixed a similar issue on a friend's washer. It ended up being a worn splutch. But I bought the shift actuator first. So, I ended up just replacing both.

    I had a broken wire that leads to the capacitor. It was a pain to figure out. Luckily the machine came with a thorough service manual

    Any suggestions for a top load Maytag performa that is having agitation problems AND leaking from the bottom ? We have 2 kids under 3 & really not enough money for a new washer anytime soon… you helped us save our dryer a few months ago !!! Any suggestion would be appreciated greatly 🙏🏼

      You need to replace the tub seal and bearing. I just replaced that exact same washer because the 2 speed motor went and they are no longer available. It's in my garage right now. Come and get it.

    Nah, thats not why it doesn't agitate. Eventually the wash plate and transmission splines strip so you gotta replace both.

    Make sure you put the arm on the actuator into the slot on the transmission.🤣

    I have the same washer but it shuts off only when using hot water. Works fine on cold, replaced the door latch and it still does the same thing. Stops after filling with hot water.

    These washers are such crap lol but i keep piecing mine back together to keep it going the bearings even failed in mine but i didnt want to spend the money on the whole stupid assembly so i drilled all the rivet spots out and pressed in new bearings then bolted it all back together with a new tub seal and its still working

    My Maytag Bravos is making a faint tapping noise, I replaced the splutch and that is not the problem. Could you tell me if the shift actuator is the problem. Sometimes my washer wouldn't fully spin out. Anything will help.

    30 seconds into the recalibration it made a terrible short grinding/buzzing noise then all the lights shut off as if it stopped the 3 to 5 minute calibration.

    Derrickwith2rs what would keep making the IE code keep coming on an LG top Load. The hot & cold little filters were cleaned & the hose that drains the water was put in about 12 inches. What would you do next?

    Never put the belt shroud back on… those cause problems with the belts getting jammed…

    Pardon, do you know why a Kenmore 700 would be inclined to over-fill during a Normal cycle? the level sensor works.. When I start a cycle, the drum fills to the proper level, then spins, then starts filling again without draining, and doesn't stop filling.
    But the Handwash cycle runs properly.. I'm thinking there's some issue in the logic of the clocking apparatus/cycle selector.
