I don't want to tell an "I met Tommy Emmanuel" story, I want to tell an "Tommy Emmanuel was such a gracious and approachable host during one of his workshops that he made even an amateur nobody like me feel welcome and seen" story. Such a lovely chap.
for Tommy to be such a talented man, he's surprisingly humble and personable guy. who just happened to be a fan of Chet Jerry and Tony Rice.
"Learn it as original first". That's especially important for newbies. Often times, people will learn a solo or something "in their own way", which just makes them stay in their comfort zone. Learning it exactly the way someone else does it forces you to expand your horizons and tackle difficulties you're avoiding when making things "your own".
Well said. So many hobby players don’t want tackle something the “original” way, as it takes too much time and work. They don’t realize the effort is well spent with the satisfaction of accomplishing it and their skills further improved
Tommy's playing always put a smile on my face.
Nice to here a professional musician describing his journey from conscious incompetence to conscious competence to unconscious competence. And then focus on the variations on top. Great clip.
You Sir Win, That is the best summarization I have ever witnessed. my humble hat is off to you. if Mr. Beato doesn't pin it, it's a crime.
What an absolute legend TOMMY EMMANUEL
2 Grandmasters of Music, and one is interviewing the other. Wow. The Interview with Tommy was one of my favourites, what a great guy!
Just saw Tommy play in Mesa AZ a couple nights ago - wow! What an amazing musician and performer! And great guy!👍
It's so true 1:40 The audience is the barometer. As Pete Townsend sang "The hypnotized never lie, do ya?". However, each audience has its own energy. One night they show up on fire, the next show, like dragging a bag of wet cement. But in time you can tell when they're right. And 4:41 YES!! There is no shortcut!
OMG OMG OMG!!! THANKQ for doing this one Rick and Tommy!! The Master Class in SLC UT in 2007 changed me as a guitarist and song writer and arranger of music... One of THE GREATEST MUSICIANS & GUITAR PLAYERS of our time!!
Best advice by the best❤
Rick you're videos are the best🎉
i had the pleasure of doing sound for his brother one time ,what a nice guy he was
May Tommy live forever!
My favourite Tommy Emmanuel composition is 'Amy'. A beautiful acoustic guitar piece.
That's a great reason to get out of bed in the morning. Love this. Learning music is dedication. ❤
Another great sit down. Rick, you make it look easy! So many hours in the classroom pay off. Having watched the Daniel Lanois interview, Tommy and others, one thing that they say is you've got have the melody before you can go further. You have to bake the cake before you put the iceing on it.
Wow amazing!!! Great insight on learning a song
He's stunningly perfect and ORIGINAL.
I think one of the most important things he said was he warmed up this morning at 6 am. He wasn’t joking, you don’t get to play like this man without living the guitar 24 hrs a day.
Good advice! Cheers Rick and Tommy!!
Tommy is absolutely a world musical treasure.
Love this. I've seen TE a few times. Always fantastic!
5:17
That was a great reminder of Poirot... ))
One of the greats!
Such a talented guy. There’s a reason he’s a CGP!
TE is the darling of small private colleges. His arrangements have the appeal of Jose Feliciano. Feliz Navidad.
Love it!
so Rick uses this channel for snippets and then he upload the full video on his main channel. Then he can get double profit! Thats a nice hack to you tube! Bravo!!
The goat
Where was that filmed? Looks like a music store.
A true guitar slinger..
Cool
Curious about what guitar Tommy is playing
Gibson Hummingbird
🙂💖
The Hercule Poirot reference at 5:18! My man! Americans don’t really get it lol
The songs I try to write..... they suck but the songs that write themselves tend to be the best 🤔
I saw this before.
Make reruns great again
Yeah, isn't it cool that Rick's reposting for those of us who haven't seen it before?
