      I wonder how much a liter of petrol is there? How much is a pack of cigarettes? How much does it cost to register your vehicle? Do you have a fee for driving more than a certain amount of kilometers a year? Socialised medicine is paid for in so many sneaky ways!
      I pay 2.78 usd for 3.8 liters of petrol. It cost me 68.00 usd to register my vehicle for a year. I can drive unlimited amounts of miles with zero fees for my mileage. A pack of cigarettes can be had for 1.62 usd. AND… I pay 15% of my income in income taxes. I think New Zealanders pay WAY more in income taxes. The tapering guidelines are outdated and it can be very dangerous, especially when withdrawing from these drugs safely. I learned from experience and went through permanent damage and hell because of doctors incompetence with these drugs. People put too much trust in doctors. Be your own doctor and do your own research when it comes to these drugs. Joining a support group on Facebook has helped me. Btw, Effexor XR is what destroyed my life. Unfortunately I got permanent brain damage and see a neurologist from their too fast tapering because I been on the drug too long, and at a high dose. They do not always know best, unfortunately. The only aspect I don't agree on is that Sertraline has more impact on Libido than Escitalopram, because in every single Metastudy Sertraline and Fluoxetine have a lower proportion of people who got SSRI induced sexual side effects than Paroxetine, Escitalopram and Citalopram. Thus, I would rather suggest to take Sertraline than Escitalopram unless the patient has a severe generalized anxiety disorder.

    What do you think about taking Wellbutrin in the morning and a low dose of Mirtazapine in the evening, if you suffer from both, fatigue and low motivation, but also sleep disorders?

    • @Tobitube93
      @Tobitube93 Před 2 lety

      @Natalie Hey, what kind of meds are you on right now if I may ask?
      Anyway, to my experience with these meds: I started taking 150mg Bupropion XL in January 2021, the first days I slept very little, like 1-3 hours a day.
      But at this point it didn't bother me because I still felt a lot more energetic then usually (was already awake before the alarm rings and could easily get up then, which is very unusual for me), also I became very tired in the evening of course, which made it easier to go to bed early.
      At this time I also was more sensitive to caffeine, but that and the poor sleep faded within the first weeks. Though it took me still longer to fall asleep then before bupropion.
      The first time I noticed a significant improvement of my wellbeing was after a bit less then 2 weeks, from that point on everything felt "easier", I became more communicative and felt way more energetic and generally didn't worry about unnecessary stuff all the time.
      The energy and also the increased trouble falling asleep slowly faded over the year, but not entirerly. I still had to take powernaps several times a day even in the beginning though, but don't know exactly what the cause for that is, probably a burnout-like condition due to cronic stress, but the mood lift stayed all the time! So it did a great job in preventing me from spiraling into negativity and greatly improved my emotional dysregulation, which I always have struggled with.
      I also have mirtazapine, but decided not to take it daily because I've often read that it's BRUTAL to get off of it...
      So I take about 3.75mg about once a week and can say it definitely is intense. Even this small dose (1/4 pill) makes me feel really tired and dizzy and it's very easy to fall asleep on it.
      It also raises the appetite drastically though and even the next day I tend to eat more and still feel a bit dizzy (+ I sleep longer and have trouble to get out of bed).
      Generally with mirtazapine I would carefully consider taking it when you have low energy because I would say its sedating effect outweighs the energizing effect of the bupropion, making you even more sluggish all in all. A higher dose (30mg+) makes you paradoxically more energized instead of tired, but then it doesn't help well for sleeping obviously.
      Another thing: From what I've read (only comments as source, take it with a grain of salt) bupropion seems to work a bit different for people with ADHD.
      Do you also have ADHD? For me it's the case that I found out having it last year and heavily underestimated the impact (like 80% of untreated patients have depression/ anxiety and sleeping issues!), being probably one of the root causes for my issues.
      Especially women are severely underdiagnosed because the symptoms aren't that obvious and then get the wrong treatment or are even not taken seriously by some docs, saying it's "only anxiety" or something and prescribe them wrong medication like SSRIs.
      Only a tip to do some research if you can identify with some symptoms, if not, sorry to bother you with this unnecessary information.
      Some patients write that starting bupropion made their anxiety worse or that they are more irritable in the beginning,
      but for me it was exactly the opposite.
      But the downside for me (seems to be rare) is that my ambition to be productive and start comlicated tasks suffered, because I didn't "care enough" anymore, maybe because last minute pressure was a big motivator for me. Probably the med took away my anxiety and the pressure to get the work done. But like I said, that seems to be not very common, others reported the opposite effect.
      All in all bupropion really helped me improving my wellbeing and I can definitely recommend it.
      Important to know is that I always have stayed on the initial dose of 150mg, so I don't know how 300 or 450mg would have affected me, maybe it could have worked way better with energy etc.
      As a sleeping aid melatonin works really well for me, as far as I know you can also take it daily without becoming dependent on it.
      I hope that I could help you with this information and wish you good luck tomorrow,
      if you have further questions feel free to ask :)

    Hi, i need some advice. I recently completed a 21 day inpatient rehab for alcholism and benzo addiction. They cut me off cold turkey and when i was released was a nervous wreck. Eventually my anxiety started to subside but was hit with major depression. I went to a local dr who precribed me wellbutrin during the am and lexapro during the pm. Ive only been on them for 2 weeks so i havent really felt much except some rebound anxiety during the day (maybe the welbutrin?) On top of this, i releaped twice since then on wine and was told this could increase my chance of a seizure. Another doc i spoke with said that i should stay on both if i can remain sober since theyre both low dose (wellbutrin 150xl, ledxapro 10mg). Complicating things, im still titrating down on valium to complete my benzo taper, im down to about 10mg a day.

      @ErikRichardsonDO  Před 4 lety +5

      Wow, that’s a complex issue for sure. I can’t give any specific advice for you unfortunately. Definitely a good discussion to have with your doctor. Some general information that can help though, Wellbutrin can make anxiety a little worse in some. It also can lower your seizure threshold. In your case with coming off of alcohol and seizures due to that I don’t have much experience to say the effect that Wellbutrin can have. That being said Wellbutrin can help some with addiction issues so there is possibly some benefit there. You may benefit from seeing somebody who specializes in addictions. Good luck and keep working hard on your sobriety. It will be worth it!

    Wellbutrin is quite a drug, helped me a lot years ago but I've seen bad reactions. It being an NDRI, it is essentially a long acting stimulant. Girlfriend was on it for a while while she already has severe anxiety and it was awful

      Have you tried Tianeptine? 12.5 mg three times per day? Best thing I ever ran into, but you have to get it overseas... Known as Stablon.

    Hi, I am currently on zoloft 50mg a day. Was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and anxiety. Would you say the lexapro is way more effective for anxiety than the zoloft? Because I feel my anxiety is worst than my depression. If this makes sense. Thank you.

      @@AyeshaKhan-ll7mw I had slight light headedness for the first few days and slight nausea but wasnt that bad. I know it is recommended at morning but i take it in afternoon around 5 oclock after i get home from work, I didnt want it effecting me for work. By the 5 th day i could sleep through the night without waking up having racing crazy thoughts, that was the hardest time for me is middle of the night. I would wake up nothing but bad negative thoughts every night and couldnt go back to sleep, could not stop thinking about bad stuff, after 5th night on paxil that all stopped. I was always someone that worried about everything even during the day, but night was bad for me because i would get more depressed in middle of night.
      If not paxil i hope u find something that works for you. I wouldnt not take it because of the side effects, they go away after a short time, but only u can make the call on whats right for u.
