Knowing that this performance was recorded only days before he died makes it all the more poignant. Seeing him perform with such control knowing he had Parkinsonism makes it even more astonishing. Such a glorious voice and a gorgeous man.
Dean Ford brings me all the way back to my High School days with this beautiful song, he was one of the most memorable singers to enhance my life. God bless him!
I'm 65 yrs old, when i was a boy my father warned me that when i get older that, the years will seem like months and the months would seem like weeks and the weeks would seem like days and the days would seem like hours as we grow older. He was so right. Miss you pop.
I'm not too far-off I'm 64 & I see from where you're coming from. I saw something that was written on a Tee-Shirt, it said how do know that you're getting old ? When you you have more Doctors than friends. It certainly seems that way. I do miss my folks & aunts and uncles that are way up in age are dying off. You said you miss your old man and that's because you grew up with him, and perhaps you had a good relationship with him. Me even though my old man isn't around I wouldn't sing for him. I didn't grow-up with my old man because he left before I was born. One day when I met up with him he told me if I couldn't accept him. It was alright because he had other children that accepted him. That was 23 Yrs ago I walked away and didn't see him since. He's no longer around and I was loyal to the people that adopted and took me in. Even though they're no longer around I carry their last name. Family and folks are the ones that stick by you. It's sad but that's the way it is for some people.
@@joegongora2200 Amen brother. thanks for the your heart felt response. For those of us in our twilight years of life, these lyrics take on a very special meaning. I remember watching and listening to Dean sing this song when he was a young man in his twenties. Now, watching him sing it as an older man is a strange feeling. Wow, Dean Ford is still very good even in his older age. We all are getting old, his performance and the message of his song brought a tear to my eye. ''A young man in the old Mans body sings , take me back'' Absolute perfection.

Yes, Peter. What a singer Wee Dean was. First saw him in 1963, or thereabouts, in a school hall in Drumchapel - it was Dean Ford and the Gaylords at that point. One of the top bands in Scotland at the time. Worth trying to find Dean and Ian McMillan's acoustic version of 'In Dreams' (it's at a wedding reception). Or The Glasgow Road, with Joe Tansin - and other tracks, from his later years. They're on youtube.

Dean you may be silenced, but your beautiful music will live on. RIP 🎸🎶🙏
At the end of his life, despite the obvious weakness in his voice - or perhaps because of it - his voice was even more beautiful than at the start of his life. RIP Dean - a beautiful voice from a beautiful soul.
