I left in 1993. In the 80’s when I came up it was a great place to grow up and early 90’s. Now not so much. It’s my hometown but I am so far removed especially since I left in the early 90’s that I am sure things have changed for the worse. All I have are the memories and nostalgia.

you can take people out of perth amboy but never take perth amboy out of people it is truly a melting pot of all nationalities i am seventy and never once was afraid of walking on any street the latinos are sometimes loud but nicer kinder people you will never meet when they say mi casa su casa they mean it i miss in particular all the jewish people and greeks the chinese who lived here when i graduated high school in 66 life here was like some paradise. all jews, blacks, latinos poles and ukrainians all in love with each other without realizing it we had the great bruce taylor in our graduating class and that great saint of puerto ricans arcides cruz whose mom made the best chuletas i had ever eaten , love, love is the answer and not to love is treason of the worst kind because of perth amboy i can this, memory is the only paradise from which no one can be turned away i thank jesus for my salvation and my parents for my dear dear perth amboy
Glad I watched this as there is nothing to see here, just another congested NJ town with a slew of 1950's structures mostly of cheap construction except a few older churches and such.

I have some questions...was perth amboy affected by hurricane Sandy? is it easy to get around without a car? Is it a safe area crime wise and what school for 5th grade middle or elementary? Thank You.
Sandy hit hard here but everything has been fully remodeled. Its easy to get around with a car except for when its either morning school time or right after school because of traffic. The crime is minimum, but there are cases. And theres more than 10 options for high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools
