Watching this video from a few years ago makes me smile as I have been detailing my wife's 2006 S-type this week and have to agree with your comments about this lovely car. It drives wonderfully, is very comfortable and the styling has aged nicely. She loves it and we only paid $7,000 for it three years ago. Very few issues mechanically at 80,000 miles. Hope to keep ours for another 80,000.
I have owned my 2.7 S Type for over 6 years now. The best car I have owned and definitely a keeper. Yes work is required and it’s value is low but I would rather spend a couple of thousand pounds (UK) to keep it nice than “invest” in a boring modern efficient box that will still depreciate rapidly! Thanks for the content and stay safe Sweden.
It's always cheaper (and more fun) to keep a good cat going than to give up and buy a new one. Hope you get many years with your S-type. Stay safe too!
Thanks for the download , I agree they are a very underated car . I’ve got a 2003 s type 3.0 v6 . Bought for £500 . Very clean inside . New radiator , plugs , oil , oil filter , air filter , fuel filter , transmission filter and fluid change , new abs sensors , crankcase ventilation valve . To do - inner sills need welding and getting done in 2 weeks , new catalytic converters and four sensors and eventually a full body restore and paint job including wheels . Is the car going to be worth the money I put into it , he’ll no but I really like this car . The Jaaaaag 🐆
Hi Adam. I have had my 2004 S-Type 3.0 for seven years now. Apart from replacing tyres and flat batteries, it has passed every inspection for the entire time and has been a pleasure. I need to state here that I do less than 600 miles per year. Mine's black with ivory over black interior and outside it's black on black. Dunno if I will see it become a classic but it's been the best car I have had since I had the kids. Before that... JDM. Sub from Yorkshire UK.

The S-Type is a fantastic car! I have a 2007, 3.0 in British Racing Green. I have had zero problems with it. No issues at all. I've only had to replace tires, battery, and wiper blades! This is the best most reliable car I've ever owned. I'm 73 & I've owned a ton of cars. This car is 13 yrs old & still turns heads. A classic? Well, time will tell.

Hi hope every one is doing well and been keeping safe , Well i have to say this is a beautiful example and i have just brought my Jaguar S Type 4.0 V8 2000 year , i Live in Birmingham West Midlands Uk and drove my car from the gentleman i brought it from Margate yes Margate even had chance to treat my self to Fish & Chips on the Beach i drove 218 miles back home and with a full tank of Shell Vmax fuel i had 3 quarter of a fuel tank and it was the best drive ive had in a long time i could have carried on & drove all the way up too Scotland ,even when i got out of my new Jaguar i didnt feel a single bit tired ,oh i will be keeping it for a very long time and its come back home too as this was JAGUARS OWN CAR WHEN IT CAME OFF THE PRODUCTION LINE AND WAS CHAUFFEUR DRIVEN ,IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY PRESENT TO MY SELF AS THE DAY BEFORE IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY .THANK YOU ALL
My sister and brother-in-law bought a 4.0 liter S Type new in 2000. They still have it and it’s been an absolutely superb, reliable automobile. I agree with you on the driving experience - it’s a lovely car to drive. Theirs is a really high spec one for that period - GPS,, an early voice activated control system, built-in phone, CD player.
@@ani-jf8pu Hi there…it really depends on the specific car. My sister’s has been garaged and meticulously maintained all of its life, plus only has about 70K miles. Also, with any old car (and even a lot of new ones) you need to be prepared to make repairs…so if you are able to do some jobs yourself, that’s ideal.
Brilliant Adam! My daily car in Spain is a 2005 S-type 2,7 V6 diesel Executive, with High Luxury full leather interior, sunroof, 16-way power driver’s seat, etc. I’ve owned it since 2011 and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. It has been taken on two trans-continental (Spain-Norway) tours twice. It’s a superb cruiser with excellent ‘gas’ mileage (6.7 liters per 100 km on motorways at around 120 km/hour). I’m looking forward to more S-type videos and also more videos on your other cars, inc the one you’re soon getting.

I had one of these. Silver with black leather interior. Was a 2002. Also with the V6. I drove it as my winter car for 2 years. Beautiful car and I paid 5000 Canadian dollars taxes in. Fantastic value. These cars care are extremely under rated. After 2 years of ownership I sold it for 3000. I would definitely get an other one

Any chance you can do (or point me in the right direction of) a video on how to service/check/top up the coolant on pre HE v12 5.3ltr xjs or something similar!? It's a mystery to me! I saw your comment on the other video but I'll answer here. I like to raise the nose of the car and fill the cooling system from the expansion tank as much as the car will take cold, engine off. I then put the cap back on and open the blender screw. If possible I remove it all the way. On my car I like to get a tiny funnel and pour coolant into the radiator where the bleeder screw was. Once that's full I start the car and let it warm up. The last air should get pushed out by the bleeder screw. Close it and go for a drive. When you came back raise the front again (or Park on a hill) and very carefully open the bleeder to let any air out. Please be careful so you don't burn yourself. That's how I've done it and it's always worked

No.Never seen his channel.Don't have any Alfas.They have a horrible reputation of unreliability and also corrosion problems with the older ones here.Although their styling is frequently gorgeous and Clarkson even stated frequently every petrolhead must own an Alfa at least once in his life.Apart from the Jags &R/Rover,aJeep &2Peugeots &1Renaullt ,all my cars are German & Swedish(4Volvo's & Saabs each)
2002.5 or 2003 in North America marked significant changes in the S-type. Revisions include Denso engine management, a ZF 6-speed automatic in place of the Ford 5-speed unit, revised rear suspension and an XJ style dash in place of what some call the "Darth Vader" center console/dash treatment. They are an under appreciated car that has aged nicely.
Totally agree. They are great cars. I owned two of them, both 2000 S-Type Sports 4.0 with CATS. Both drove very nicely, handling was great, performance fantastic and both got lots of complements. One was silver and the other was black. The one to have is a late STR. They are cheap now but a lot of them, at least in the US, are falling into disrepair and poor pride of ownership.....
I hope I can drive my jag on Monday home, bought it yesterday from a car seller who has a ridiculous own car and jag collection... Super V8, old Daimler ones, he must have 50 cars, really sick... I hope the s type wont let me down :D
Hi there Great Video! I have a 2000 stype and will be driving it for the first time for winter here in Canada. How does this car handle in snow/ice, also any advice on what to do with it to get it winter ready and safe. Thx
It does handle snow and ice very well. I drove it with good winter tires and I never really had traction issues. The traction control system did a really good job of getting me out of a trouble a few times. They do like to rust in the sills so I would make sure to rust proof there before the winter. Enjoy the car!
And there's me thinking that you would getting another Volvo diesel estate for winter use. BTW just got the diff back from being overhauled and £618 lighter, and what is the best way to get the hub assembly out of the carrier? No one around here, who is open, can press it out so I might have to resort to a socket and persuader, is this a safe option in your view?
The new car is very far removed from a Volvo estate mostly because it's not practical at all. My wife has a lovely V50 estate so we still have one practical and sensible car. If I remember correctly I have removed them before with a persuader (it was about 6 years ago) but I then used a press to put it all back together.
The Ugly Duckling is now a Swan, its the next Jaguar Classic to collect especially the R Type. Get them why you can boys they're only going to become rarer and more valuable as time goes by. I love my S Type R she's a Monster Sleeper I've owned her for seven months and I've never seen another S Type R on the road? I kind of like being in a select club.
Can I visit in Sweden? Lol My new 2000 Jag S type...3 days in .love it alot...totally taken care of well...no rust, cosmetic issues outside, leather seats have a few cracks...but most luxurious car I ever had..wood n leather...but .worried about repairs. I may need to have a life of crime to pay for it...so...here we go! Took a chance.

I had an X-type from this era. Unfortunately, there were too many similarities to the contemporary Ford platforms. However, it was a nice car. with the exception of having only 1 cup holder in the car.

I had a 2005 2.5v6, the worst car I have ever owned , was such a money pit and spent 2k in a year just sorting out the issues , I practically gave it away

Had a 07 for awhile loved how it drove.the problem was that is was always in the shop with electrical and wiring problems,long story short sold it and got a Mercedes E350 and have never been happier.Mercedes tops jaguar

I agree... i have one and it's ace.... i like to think of the S-type as a future classic, but a car has to be more than 20 years old to be classed as a classic... more like 40 years.
gotta say the back seats look like the cheapest and most uncomfortable things that cheapskate Ford could do, they had no Idea what a Jaguar is, FYI I had a 2000 S and it was much better

Lovely car . Ive got the 2.7 auto. Very comfy . Get a lot of BMWS and Mercs cruising up on the motorway for a closer look.I cant fault it really.

Är en bra vinterbil. Körde denna under en vinter och det gick bra. Startar alltid och går bra.

gotta say the back seats look like the cheapest and most uncomfortable things that cheapskate Ford could do, they had no Idea what a Jaguar is, FYI I had a 2000 S and it was much better
Yes some corners were cut on these cars but overall they are very nice
