  • One surprising effect of a solar eclipse is the tendency for clouds to thin out or even vanish altogether during the event. This isn't always the case, of course, but observers have reported clear skies opening up as the Moon casts its shadow. Even a partial eclipse, with just a sliver of the Sun obscured, can be enough to trigger this celestial disappearing act. Why does this dramatic shift in cloud cover occur during a solar eclipse?
