Spiritual Heart of Ukraine - Cossack Cathedral in Kaniv

- Bagatov's history of Orthodoxy in the Ukrainian lands has brought to our days faceless reminders from ancient times. One of these is the Holy Assumption Cathedral of Kanev.
Not long after the baptism of Russia by the holy Prince Volodymyr, on the Kaniv mountains, like in Kiev, a bakery monastery was founded, and monks-ascetics used to pray. And for a good while, at the 12th century, at this monastery, they erected a great cathedral. For the richness of the outer and inner improvement, at that hour it was possible to compare only with the Kiev Assumption and Kirilovsky churches. It is best to speak about the role that Kanev played in the life of ancient Kievan Rus.
Roztashovane on the high banks of the Dnieper is not far from the grand duke's capital, where it protected the main waterway from the Black Sea, and Kaniv was an important strategic object for the entire state.
Following the history of the Kaniv region, M. Maksimovich wrote: “The historical life of the Kaniv Monastery is covered with a fog of mystery and ... nothing appeared about the camp in the sixteenth century. Only from the Little Russian Literature can be seen that in 1587 p. the Cossacks transported to the Kanivsky monastery and buried here [behind the walls of the Georgiyevsky temple] the body of the famous face of their Ivan Pidkovi, slain at Lvov 12 chervnya for the orders of King Batory, in which monastery, having taken tonsure and skіnchiv his life, the ascetic and friend Pidkovi... thought about Samіyla Kіshku to bury here the Zaporizhian leader. From then on, until the end of the third quarter of the 17th century, the Kanivsky monastery and the Cathedral of St. George were crowned with dignity no less than kanivtsiv, and the prestige of the entire Kievan metropolis.
And on the XVII century, the most tragic episode in the history of the Church of St. George falls. 4 spring 1678 the Turks burned and plundered Kaniv. Under the hour of the attack, the monastery and the church burned down.
After these monks, the monastic brethren fell asleep a small wooden church in the name of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos over the Melanchin stream in the tract, as we now call Monastirok Street.
From that hour, the church of St. George stood in ruins for the second century. Although in the other half of the 18th century the monastery was founded by the Basilians (the black order of the Greek Catholics), the temple was near the ruins until 1805, if the Orthodox assistant Kazarin was born in the її current look at the time of the basilian’s death.

The successors admit that they are guilty, like the lowness of other shrines, having visited those hours in the west.
The monastery was already born in the Cossack doba. To commemorate the chronicles, in those hours hetman Ivan Pidkov was buried here, and three years later in the Kaniv monastery, having adopted blackness and living out his life, hetman Yakiv Shakh. In 1669, Metropolitan Joseph Tukalsky of Kiev consecrated the future saint and theologian of holy names Demetrius of Rostov (Tuptalo) to the cathedral in 1669.
1833 p. After the restoration of the church, the church was re-passed by the Volodin of the Orthodox clergy, and in 1844, then in the year 700 a.m., the church was deafened by the cathedral and from that hour, obviously, I can name the Kanivsky Cathedral in the name of the Assumption of the Mother of God.
Since the 1861st commemoration of the history of the Assumption Cathedral, even in the early days of that rock, the stars were turning the rest of the way to Chernecha Hill of the great son of Ukraine - Taras Shevchenko. There is a memorial plaque about this. At the funeral of the poet buv i M. Maksimovich.
The life of the 20th century did not pass its storms over the Assumption Cathedral: the temple in different fates victorious as a function of its direct recognition, so and so, as if it called “atheistic supremacy” to it.

цьому храмі не священики а гімно собаче яке працює на фсб і живуть вони не по слову божому а по тому що скаже їм паша мерсидес
Так, це відома унікальна історична архітектурна пам‘ятка! Ви кажете, що козацька, а замовчуєте, що там досі московський патріархат! Якщо Ви патріот - у час війни подавайте інформацію точно, повно, достовірно і правильно! За що гинуть справжні герої?
УПЦ це Україна! Воїни прихожани УПЦ боронять Україну на війні з агресором! А ті хто й досі розділяє країну є вороги України!
