Rugged FIRE BOOTS Are Turned Into DRESS BOOTS | Our MOST Extreme Makeover YET

  • This was one of our craziest makeover projects yet! We received this pair of Nicks Boots a couple of weeks ago. The gentleman that owns these boots used them as intended...in forest fires. These boots were rugged, dirty, and what was the request sent to us? Please try to make these into a dress boot. It wasn't easy, but we did everything we could, in the limited amount of time we had, to transition these boots from rugged and beat up to cleaned up and WOW! Time for another restoration!

      No water shortage where you guys are apparently. 😂 Next time run the water a few minutes before you begin to soap the boots and a few minutes after you’re done, just for good measure. I type this as I look at the reservoir down below my house dry out as we hope for heavy snow this year.

I don't get it unless you carried your buddy thru a bloody war and it's a sentimental thing you have to have these boots go be dress boots. Insanity. Say it with me, "a RAPID Blake stitch construction!" :)
      Hey, whilst I have all the experts here, is Rapid Blake superior to Goodyear? It seems to be the most robust (having a whole midsole as a welt).

    • @TrentonHeath
      @TrentonHeath  Před 2 lety +22

      Most blake rapids use the midsole as the welt, where we added a separate welt attached to the upper. The insole stitching was not required where it is on BR. Just as Nicks insole stitches, but also outsole stitches. Theirs is a stitchdown and not a BR. This was a hybrid between all three construction methods.

    BTW, Preston (Elegant Oxford) recently let out of the bag that he's finding good results by filling the pores of the leather first, with Mirror Gloss, and then finishing the mirror shine with Medaille D'or. The softer MD (with more solvents) seems to respond better to the water/alcohol solution he uses, to bring out the gloss faster. Makes sense, gonna see how that works next time I get motivated to be serious about a shine.

    wonderful! you steps remind me of a boot restoration i undertook myself 7 years ago with french service boots from 1939.
    i did everything but the resoling myself, which was done by a local cobbler in frankfurt am main.
    restoring / reviving / transforming footwear is one of the most satisfying things i’ve done and it’s the reason i prefer vintage shoes and boots over current products.

    Amazing! I think you guys can take a dumpster and turn it into fine furniture. Also, you’re both very articulate. You didn’t stutter, stammer, snort, hesitate, cough, grunt, or say “um” a hundred times. Well done.

    This is a great video my uncle had a shoe repair place in Gary Indiana and my cousin is a actual shoe maker in Greece where we are from on the Island of Karpathos there is a shoe specific to the island and you still go and have them made for you and they fit you up and wear them most of your life you just keep repairing that reminds me of how we do it there ,you are true artists .a dying art here in thee states where we throw everything away ,and most from China .

    What a awesome transformation from rugged boot to dress shoe. As soon as the lighter came out though it all came back to me. I was cranking out mirror finishes in the barracks for dress inspections all throughout A and C school. Easy money, boys.

    As soon as you started down the road with “you may be wondering”, my brain was right there in “old school” mode. Well done sir. Those boots are just an amazing piece. The artistry and craftsmanship gone into the transformation has to be seen to be believed.
