Hello from Texas! Very much appreciate these reviews as I am already researching future curricula for my 4th grader's future. Also, shout out to the Luke's Diner coffee mug at the end. Its a Gilmore Girl world, and were just living in it. 🧡

Oh no! All of our BJU Spanish just arrived this week!😢 This is supposed to be our helpful sidekick to Babel. We got Babel last year not realizing that only one person could use it🤦🏼‍♀️.
My plan is to have the kids take a lesson then go out and meet up with some of our orchard workers that speak both English & Spanish and try to have a full Spanish conversation!

I taught Spanish at our co-op (my 8th grader included) once a week. We didn’t have a lot of time for conversation. I assigned Spanish Playground videos, and “All about me” writing exercises that they would use in class, e.g. family, routines, food, likes, activities, etc. Enough to answer some questions about themselves. I think for the first year a lot of comprehensible input is needed. They don’t have enough of the building blocks to speak in other tenses for example. We also learn French this way in our home.

Awesome reviews! Just wanted to give my input re: BJU Spanish. It’s not easy to find a homeschool curriculum that caters to all goals. Either students reach for reading and grammar OR speaking…However I would say that listening and understanding are respectable goals. Like babies, older learners too understand first, speak second.

I was thinking of doing BJU Spanish 1 and combining it with the 15 class sessions from Homeschool Spanish Academy. That way they can get that verbal practice.

My son did BJU spanish 1 and I thought it was pretty rigorous and it took sooo long. My son did some speaking but he said the conversation part of was probably the hardest for him to do. We switched to breaking the barrier, which was too expensive for what you get, but I think I might be using babble, too. OH, look in the homeschool spanish academy or Kid's club spanish. You might like that .

Yes Artistic Pursuits definitely lacked for us! We will be using it again and beefing it up!

Thank you for your review on all the curriculum. Can't wait for your other review. By the way, can you do a video on how you made your transcript for your 8th grade daughter. Here in NC we can assign credits in middle school as well. Love for some tips and help honestly.

We are doing Gather Round US History this year! Thanks for sharing the book list and when they read each. What were the audio books that they listed to related to US History?

Maybe not related but what dvd player do your kids use and how well does it work? I'm looking for a dvd player for my kids❤
